Boredom is behind many incidents of cyberbullying and trolling on social media sites, according to the first major study into the matter.
Linguistics expert Dr Claire Hardaker, of Lancaster University, studied almost 4,000 online cases involving claims of trolling.
She has revealed the methods most regularly used by trolls on sites such as Facebook and Twitter to trigger outrage for their own amusement.
Trolling is a phenomenon that has swept across websites in recent years where online forums, Facebook pages and newspaper comment forms are bombarded with insults, provocations or threats.
Supporters argue that it is about humour, mischief and freedom of speech, but for many the ferocity and personal nature of the abuse verges on hate speech.
Trolls operate out of a feeling of power, amusement, boredom and revenge and thrive on the anonymity which the internet provides, said Dr Hardaker.

It couldn't be ignored, could it. At least, not forever. But it seems to me that banning them from The Internet is the best idea, through their Internet Provider. It's got to be cheaper than taking them to Court.

Like so many anti-McCanns, Mike Hardy the pretendy journalist and proven LIAR and ONLINE OBSCENE THUG from Kent, is too thick to realise that his involvement in such ONLINE THUGGERY, LIBEL AND OBSCENITY blinds him to reality.



He tried to LIE about a subject he knew NOTHING about (ie University Research) and has been shown to be an absolute fool by the plethora of proof about such research which is now appearing. And his laughable claims to have "outed" me which were never followed up by any actual evidence of that outing have also been shown to be LIES.

They always come unstuck eventually. Because they are simply liars.

And Hardy is another of the priests and priestesses of the Anti-McCann campaign.

The drunks and slobs like Emu and Sean Hyland (lovely picture of him clutching his booze somewhere) who spend their drunken hours posting abuse about people online and rallying the anti-McCann trolls.

The no-lifes like JillyCL who spends every hour God gives her posting tens of thousands of old news garbage to fulfil her ambition of being the most prolific online abuser ever.

The online thugs and obscenity spewers like RothleyPillow and the creep who abuses a working UK doctor by stealing his identity and of course this creep, Mike Hardy the martial arts fanatic of Kent.

Don't they make a pretty bunch when looked at as a whole?

Is there a single High Priest or Priestess on the Anti-McCann side of the case who is a normal decent human being?

Oooh. Who lamped him one?

And No, there isn't one single half decent person accusing The McCanns. In fact none of them have ever been heard of apart from Bennett, and he isn't half decent.
