PJ makes searching the chamber Portimão
The Judicial Police (PJ) made this Wednesday searching the chamber Portimão, told Lusa the head of the presidential office of the municipality.

The source declined to give details on the operation of the PJ, the explanations referring to a note that is still distributed to the media.

The Portimão Council reported today that the searches made by the Judicial Police (PJ) in municipal facilities, held in connection with an investigation involving the vice president Luís Carito and Councilman Jorge Campos.
In a short statement sent to media, the Portimão Council indicated that the searches are related to procedural steps that are targeting the two mayors, elected by the Socialist Party.
The searches, according to the city, "are related to a process that originated in anonymous complaints in 2011, involving the municipal company Portimao Urbis."
For its part, the municipal source told Lusa that the efforts of PJ extended also to the residence of the two mayors.
The management of municipal enterprises Portimão, to which are attached the two councilors, has been investigated since 2012 by PJ.
The agency Lusa contacted the board of Faro PJ who declined to advance any evidence about the case.

Mayors of Portimão arrested for alleged corruption
The deputy mayor of Portimão, Luís Carito, Councilman Jorge Campos and three others were arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of corruption, among several crimes in the management of the municipal Portimao Urbis, said a police source.


"At stake are contracts for municipal company [Portimao Urbis] with other companies. Corruption is suspected, among other crimes of an economic nature," the same source said, adding that one of the situations investigated relates to the project Pictures Portugal - private initiative for the creation of the city's theater Portimão.
Carito and Jorge Luis Campos belonged at the time of the alleged facts (2011), the board of directors of the municipal Portimao Urbis. Both mayors and three suspects were arrested in connection with an investigation of the Judicial Police that culminated with the completion of searches on the premises of the municipality and the municipal company.

According to police sources, in addition to vice president and councilor, were also arrested Lélio White, administrator Portimao Urbis, Artur Curado, the Algarve Film Commission, and Luis Marreiros municipal employee. The suspects are still linked to Sin Pictures.
The five suspects will be on Thursday the first judicial interrogation in Central Criminal Court of Lisbon, Campus of Justice, since the research is being coordinated by the Central Bureau of Investigation and Penal Action.

Sofia was tied up somewhere with that lot.  Did she not get the sack from somewhere or other in the municipal area?

Was it tourism, or something she was involved with? I can't remember for sure...

I thought she used to work for one of the Mayor's Offices, and then got the sack for not being committed.  Turning up late and taking days off.

They lived without their father since May, because he worked in Portimão and we still lived in Faro. Then, on the day that Madeleine disappeared, I started to work in Portimão. They remained with their grandparents, and when they finally came to live in our new home, their father ceased functions in Portimão and had to return to Faro. How far is Faro from Portimao?  It can't be all that far.  Not that I really care.  But I suspect that their house was being repossessed at that time.

But let's step back and look at what was happening chez Amaral that week.

She'd started a new job in Portimao.

He was supposed to be off work childminding while they moved.

He was also getting made an arguido for his involvement in the torture of Leonor Cipriano.


What's Amaral doing in the middle of this domestic chaos? Why, he's feeding his face at the Carvi Brasserie. He spends more time describing his meal than he does any of these  rather more relevant events.

And then Madeleine McCann is abducted.

I would really, really like to know if he seized the chance to play the Great Co-Ordinator to avoid having to deal with any of the chaos in his personal life.

The deputy mayor of Portimão, Luís Carito, was today remanded in custody until conditions are met and legal techniques to pass that house arrest with an electronic bracelet, informed lawyers.

The mayor and four other defendants, heard first judicial questioning by Judge Charles Alexander at the Central Criminal Court, Campus of Justice in Lisbon, are suspected of corruption, maladministration, money laundering, economic participation in business and criminal association.

The lawyer added that Luís Paulo Batista Carito, besides being subject to duress as electronic surveillance, was also banned from holding public office, in contact with the other defendants and to leave the country.
The remaining defendants left at liberty subject to other measures of coercion.

Must be a worry for Amoral, with him having been as thick as thieves with the
Portimao city bosses when he was riding high.

Amaral still missing from Dear Julia's daytime telly sofa, then? Stooge Carvalho was left to chat with the human windmill about the Yard wanting to re-open the case.

Seems a bit odd, that the Great Co-Ordinator wasn't on hand to burble and hiss his way through yet another a recitation of how hard-done by he was.

He is not scared by their tactics , has been clever in making this case so huge re the basic rights of a PORTUGUESE CITIZEN , he has protected himself . Do they seriously believe Gonc has gone bankrupt, etc., because he's just waiting to play that Ace? When is it going to sink in that there is no Ace, no smoking gun, that Amaral has played them all for fools?

That it's him who has delayed the libel trial, time after time?

After all, there was nothing stopping him from revealing his Ace on the Dear Julia show, on any of his many appearances. Why, he would have been the Man of the Hour, he would have been set for life, able to afford as many chavvy ear-rings and fireworks as he wanted!

But no. He just sat there, getting thinner and thinner. Looking like a man who knows time's up, and he has no Ace to play. Which everyone knows except his deluded cult.

That oaf was tasked to find a missing child, not conduct a vendetta against her parents as part of some 'game' that existed only in his sick head.

I really, really hope that when the Yard have finished, Amoral is charged with deliberate incompetence. There's bound to be something in Portuguese law that covers disgraced ex-policemen who foul up missing child cases, conduct vendettas against the parents of said child, and use the missing child to line his pockets.

And this is what hoho and co idolize, so what does that say about them?
