Re: Home Secretary sends formal request to Portugal
I really don't care about who they send emails to, or about what. But why do they have to keep on putting their semi literate, rambling garbage up on The Net for all to see how stupid they are?
Although I do have to say that some of them are amusing to read,

It's stunning how little insight they have into how the rest of the world sees them. But most entertaining.

antis can send emails to Mrs. Theresa May, but, that proves what we all know, that antis are insane, full of hate, also Mrs. Theresa May, including Scotland Yard, knows this very well.

Seriously, what is wrong with these people? Hounder -
I still believe that the key to the mystery is in Algarve. At the beginning it was a review, the Met had to analyse every piece of paper. It took time.
They selected 38 persons of interest and those persons will be interrogated. Of course there are no 38 persons involved in the case. Only a few. When most of them of all of them are cleared of suspicion, the Yard will turn itself to Tapas 9, who are the left overs.
How bl**dy stupid can you get? Have they managed to somehow forget the earlier, 'scoping' exercise, before the Yard became officially involved?
Has it really not sunk in with them that any involvement by the McCanns and their friends were discounted long ago?
Have they also managed to forget the early review by senior PJ officers which was so scathing of the wonderwoofs?
What on earth is wrong with these people, that they have so little grasp on reality?

Re: Home Secretary sends formal request to Portugal
If the dog is trained to react when he detects what he is looking for, why, in most of the cases, we see the dog passing more than once by that place in an uninterested way, until he finally signals the place where he had already passed several times'
On one of the films, it's possible to see that 'Eddie' sniffs Madeleine's cuddle cat, more than once, bites it, throws it into the air and only after the toy is hidden does he 'mark' it (page 2099). Whys didn't he signal it when he sniffs it on the first time'
That is a senior PJ officer speaking. He and the others caught on to the farce that was the business with the dogs well before the case was archived.

Madeleine McCann inquiry wins backing from Portugal
SCOTLAND Yard detectives searching for Madeleine McCann are set to fly to Portugal as its law chief yesterday confirmed receipt of Britain’s request to follow up fresh leads.
By: John TwomeyPublished: Thu, August 1, 2013
The exchange of letters between London and Lisbon means the Portuguese end of the Yard’s new inquiry is now on an official footing.
Detectives from Operation Grange are expected in the Algarve in the next few weeks.
But sources stressed the British police officers can do nothing in Portugal without being accompanied by public prosecutors.
Portugal’s Attorney General’s office confirmed receipt of a letter from Home Secretary Theresa May.
A spokesman said: “A request for judicial assistance has been received from the British authorities.
“There is currently no timetable for when and how we will proceed.”
Yesterday’s confirmation by the Portuguese is another significant step in the two-year operation which has cost £5million so far.
Last month detectives announced a new investigation after a review identified 38 potential suspects.
The “persons of interest” come from five countries and include 12 Britons.
Madeleine was three when she went missing from the McCann family apartment in the Algarve resort of Praia da Luz in May 2007.
Her parents Kate and Gerry have never given up hope that their daughter is still alive.
The couple, both doctors from Rothley, Leicestershire, welcomed the new Yard inquiry and described it as a “big step forward”.
Scotland Yard says there is no firm evidence that Madeleine is dead.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Redwood said both the British and Portuguese “remain completely committed” to solving the mystery.
Operation Grange was set up to review available evidence in 2011 after the McCanns appealed to Prime Minister David Cameron and Mrs May.
As part of the review, Yard detectives travelled to Portugal 16 times to discuss evidence gathered so far and any possible new leads.
The Home Office says it “remains committed” to providing detectives with the resources they need. Last week Gerry McCann said: “You’re not going to accept that your child’s dead unless there’s conclusive proof.”

Excellent news, Max. I suspect the diplomatic niceties have been sorted out behind the scenes, and the Yard have a pretty good idea who they want a word with in Portugal?

Well reading between the lines it would seem that the Portuguese are getting a bit peeved at being told what to do by SY and/or the UK government.

David Cameron shares a drink with Monchique mayor

Monchique Mayor Dave and Rui, best mates at last Rui André shares a toast of medronho with David Cameron.
The British Prime Minister, David Cameron, was welcomed to the council building by Rui André to thank him for choosing Monchique for the Camerons’ family holiday, and for bringing untold PR benefits to André's hilly fiefdom.
The reception was "simple and relaxed" according to the mayor. The meeting took place in the town hall, where André and Cameron talked about the Camerons’ Algarve holiday.
Cameron signed the city's Book of Honor and received yet another basket filled with local Monchique specialities including thankfully some stiff liquor with which they toasted each other.
Rui André is delighted of course that Monchique was the chosen destination of the British PM, as well as for Cameron having accepted his invitation to the informal reception.
"We are proud for Monchique, for our people, and also for the entire region to receive such a distinguished person, this is the final proof that the top people choose the top of the Algarve for top quality tourism,” said André, giddy with delight.
David Cameron's stay in the hills of Monchique, according to the Mayor, "consolidates the idea that there is a shift in tourism trends" as people are staying inland and visiting the coast for day trips.
Rui André was of course pleased that David Cameron had visited local restaurants and has walked some of the local trails "which should be an example for all those looking for a family holiday destination away from the usual confusion of the coast."
David Cameron commented that the natives are extremely friendly and the restaurants have excellent food, also the magnificent landscape, nature and views are "fantastic." "I am very happy and plan to return. Here everything is close by and I have opted to go to a different destination each day, to the beach and other places in the Algarve region," he said.

Good PR all round, Sabot, and no danger of Mrs May's getting 'lost' by blowing out a window and landing on a Portuguese tabloid employee if Cameron delivered it in person.

Attorney General's Office has given the OK to Scotland Yard to investigate
Marisa Rodrigues
Published 01 August 2013
IT IS CAUSING BAD FEELING within the Judicial Police (PJ) - the coming to Portugal of British detectives investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, in 2007, from the Algarve. The Attorney General's Office (PGR) has accepted the request for assistance, but the timetable for the Scotland Yard officers has not yet been scheduled. For now, the investigation continues to be archived, since 2008, because "there are no grounds to reopen it," said the PGR, to JN yesterday.
Once on Portuguese territory, the British police cannot carry out the measures they deem necessary. They are only allowed to observe what the Portuguese police do, at their request. And it is precisely this question that is leaving investigators angry. "They want to hear people who have already been heard at the inquiry stage and repeat other steps which were taken by us and were inconclusive. They are passing us a certificate of incompetence," complained an inspector who participated in the investigation, to JN. Another policeman recalls the "barriers" that were placed when the PJ requested assistance in the initial investigation. "The letter of request to conduct investigations in England had to be changed several times by imposition of the British authorities. We collaborate, but the opposite is not always there," he says. The public prosecutor will now have to assign the execution of the inquiries to a criminal police body. Most likely it's the PJ but, from what JN has found, nothing has yet been reported to the National Office [of the PJ].
PORTUGUESE PAY
38 "persons of interest"
Have been identified by Scotland Yard after reviewing the Portuguese case files, by more than 30 specialized English policemen at a cost of more than five million euros.
Expensive investigation
All inquiries requested by the British authorities to the national authorities will be paid for with Portuguese taxpayers' money. The Maddie case is the most expensive ever in Portugal.
"Base in Portugal"
According to the British press, the letter with the formal request for cooperation was signed by the Home Secretary, Theresa May, who spoke of "setting up a base" in Portugal.
Oh dear, what a shame. Never mind.
The letter of request to conduct investigations in England had to be changed several times by imposition of the British authorities.
Perhaps they shouldn't have demonstrated abysmal ignorance by sending letters concerning citizens of the Irish Republic to London, then? That's as bad as sending letters concerning someone from Porto to Madrid, FFS.
They are passing us a certificate of incompetence," complained an inspector who participated in the investigation, to JN.
And well-deserved it is, too. Wonder which of them that is moaning?

Re: Home Secretary sends formal request to Portugal
There was nothing strange about the delay in the Rogatory Interviews. Portugal simply got the legal details wrong. Nothing new there then.
For any trial to proceed and succeed everything must be correct no matter which country is asking. Otherwise Defendants will be acquitted on technicalities. And have been in the past.
Not interested in anything any Inspector involved in the original investigation has to say. Most of them were incompetent. That's why Scotland Yard have to do most of it again.
And anyway, I thought that bunch of cretins wanted the case reopened. Changed their minds, have they?

It was entirely predictable that Gonc and co would be whining, Sabot, they aren't worth listening to. Doubtless the McCann-haters will lap it up, though.
As you say, they've suddenly changed their minds, if they possess such things, about the entire re-investigation. Not surprising, really, the last thing they want is for Madeleine to be found. Because what would that make them, except an internet lynch mob that protected child abductors?

According to the loony maraic woman, Stooge Carvalho was moaning - guess where? Yes, on Dear Julia's daytime telly couch, once she'd finished talking about nettle recipes and how to choose a hat.
The rant seems to have managed to include something about Perfidious Albion and the British Empire in Victoria's day, and went on....
Sent the request now but they are already here for a long time. The DC is up here ..........
All already here.
Therefore, it is formal.
All life did what they wanted and will continue to do. This is all to play.
It seems that they are convinced that this here is Moroccan Angle.
What is written is that it can not perform any operations with interrogations or investigations.
And every time that the British could not do, they did. We lost forever. Why should now be any different?
Request permission to come here to investigate?
Already have walked here without asking anyone ....
The scoundrels! I'm surprised he didn't rant because Cameron had the nerve to set foot on the sacred soil of the Algarve for his hols.

There is absolutely no Law that say British Detectives cannot go to Portugal to talk to the Portuguese Team who are already investigating the incompetence of The Portimao PJ.
Is that what's worrying him?
Goncalo Amaral is about to be exposed by his Portuguese peers, and they all know that.

Is that what's worrying him?
Yes, they do seem a bit miffed about the possibility of getting a Certificate of Incompetence. Don't know why, they've really, really earned one.....
I would also hazard a guess that the Algarve has-beens are being kept out of the loop by the Porto team, except when they are being summonsed to explain just how they managed to foul up the case so badly.
Child abducted on the Algarve and smuggled out of the country? And Portugal's most famous Co-Ordinator then proceeds to waste time and money trying to frame the child's parents and have the UK police followed?
Let's just hope the Yard and Porto PJ can make up for all that lost time and find Madeleine - and possibly other missing children. Team Gonc really have earned that Certificate of Incompetence.

Re: Home Secretary sends formal request to Portugal
How's this for delusion, from hounder pretendypete?
I think if we read it carefully SY said that the Tapas 9 were not within the 38 persons of interest.
The rest was left hanging . .
No, it wasn't. Nothing was left hanging. It was perfectly clear and allowed for no far-fetched interpretation by deluded McCann-haters.
On July 14th, 2013, DCI Redwood said...
"Neither her parents or any of the members of the group who were with her are either persons of interest or suspects.
"They (the McCanns) are parents who have lost their daughter and we are doing all we can to bring resolution for them to find out what has happened to Madeleine.''
Clear enough?
