Re: Home Secretary sends formal request to Portugal
in my opinion:
more important than to know what happened, is, to find her, also to bring her safe and sound to her home.

One of Bennett's lot:
Such a high profile case, the Scotland Yard would become ridiculous. If they don't make it, I hope the British media will crash them.
Losing their prestige in front of te world, feeling embarassed and ashamed, defeated by a mediterranean country.
The PJ are showing them their own teeth. Beautiful Portuguese teeth.
Bet you didn't know you live in a Mediterranean country, Pedro. Especially one where the policemen have fine teeth.

Re: Home Secretary sends formal request to Portugal
Another idiotic hounder - this one's on about the Independent front page:
There's a piece on there about Blue-chip corruption, and the arrest of a top City lawyer. Any idea who it could be?
Yes, it's very easy to find out. Just read the story.
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/city-lawyer-questioned-over-alleged-police-bribery-8744341.html
Ian Timlin held over claims he hired private eyes to buy information from the Met
Ian Timlin, a former litigation partner at City law firm Speechly Bircham, was held by Met anti-corruption detectives investigating the alleged bribery of police officers. The senior lawyer was arrested at his home in Kent on suspicion of conspiracy to corrupt a police officer, perverting the course of justice and money-laundering offences.
The investigation relates to his work for James Ibori, the ex-governor of Delta State in Nigeria who was jailed last year for embezzlement. Mr Ibori admitted stealing almost £50m, although the true amount may have been many times greater.
See how easy that was? No need to speculate and get everything wrong, as usual.

Re: Home Secretary sends formal request to Portugal
My friends, this was taken from Diário de Notícias newspaper:
http://www.dn.pt/inicio/tv/interior.aspx?content_id=3355971&seccao=Media&page=-1
English police and PJ again on the field to investigate the case Maddie McCann - Page 17
Although in Portugal have been filed the investigation of the disappearance of the girl, the PGR has authorized a request of the British authorities to investigate new leads and suspects. The situation is unprecedented in judicial cooperation.

Thank you, Pedro. It's glaringly obvious that Gonc and co are whining because they are completely out of the loop, and their attempts to sh*t-stir are getting them no-where.
I wonder if Gonc's Certificate of Incompetency will arrive in time for his trial? Not that there's going to be a libel trial anyway....

So what is holding it up? Amaral surely can't be trying to negotiate. There is nothing to negotiate.
But then The McCanns won't be gloating in public. And Amaral won't be admitting his shame.

I really don't understand him at all, Pedro. He had a God sent opportunity to make his career for all time, but he had to get twisted by that thug Cristovao, who almost certainly, personally beat up Leonor Cipriano.
And he knew jolly well that he couldn't publish a book about a case that he was personally involved in unless he retired from The PJ. So all that crap about repairing his reputation is just, well, crap.
He had every intention of leaving The PJ even before he was thrown off the case, probably when he didn't get promoted. He was right pissed off about that, as The Lovely Sofa so fortuitously pointed out in her sickening letter to Kate McCann.
But the real truth of the matter is that he is a thoroughly immoral man who thought nothing of cheating his brother, defrauding mortgage companies and banks, and avoiding paying his taxes. He thought he was above the Law.
I am sorry that he is so obviously ill. I never want anyone to be ill. And "Sorry" is always enough for me. And I suspect that it would be enough for The McCanns.

Re: Home Secretary sends formal request to Portugal
My own view is that he knew he was going to be at least disciplined by the PJ, and possibly thrown out, over his involvement in the Cipriano scandal, Sabot.
Remember, Cristovao had already 'retired' from the PJ after the mysteriously-dropped rape allegations, and his conviction for stealing €800 from the PJ.
Given Gonc's chaotic domestic situation at the time, and the charges over Cipriano, I suspect he thought if he could somehow twist the evidenceto benefit him, and ignore what didn't, he could save his sorry hide? That doesn't explain why Team Gonc was spreading anti-McCann propaganda so quickly, though - hopefully, that is one of the side issues the Yard/Porto PJ will be looking at.
It was never in Amaral's interests to find whatever scumbag/s abducted Madeleine, let alone get the child back alive.

Re: Home Secretary sends formal request to Portugal
Was not Cristovao also retired before he wrote The Star of Joana? Another reputation protecting pile of crap, before he ever got near The Star of Madeleine.
Amaral certainly knew that he was on the way out, certainly with regard to promotion. But he was still put in charge of The Abduction of Madeleine McCann. This does suggest that he was being given another chance to redeem himself. Unless the entire hierarchy of The PJ were as thick as two short planks, and/or corrupt as well. Which I doubt.
I do know that no Police Force ever wants to force someone into retirement, should it even be that easy, which it isn't.
Nope, I am convinced that Amaral saw Madeleine McCann as his get out, and his opportunity to make loads a money. He didn't give a shit about Madeleine or who he hurt. He was going to leave anyway. Probably egged on by that appalling second wife of his. Such good Catholics as they are.
He deliberately twisted the evidence and thought that no one, least of all The McCanns would call him to account.
The Propaganda? I don't know. I saw it happening almost from day one. Even believed some of it. But I can't remember who actually started it. However, they did have a willing audience. Including me for a while.
Very strange that I somehow forgot that I had done exactly the same as The McCanns did. It cost me some to admit that I had done this. And I am still ashamed that I was so afraid of castigation that I pretended that I hadn't.
I do suspect that the likes of Morais and Astro are fascist by birth, and probably nature, and were fighting to defend whatever privileged life style they thought they had. But they didn't take account of The Brits, pile of numpties that we often are. We will believe anything. Until they go too far.
No shame in believing what was supposedly going on. You weren't alone, Bonny, by a long chalk mark. A large number of McCann supporters did exactly the same as you.
But we are pretty terrible when we realise what fools they took us for.

amaral crashed and burned, his thirst for easy fame and dirty fortune, along with his ego or arrogance made him act with the despicable behaviour. When he saw that PJ sacked him, he decided to initiate attacks against innocents, what he didn´t expect is that those innocents are intelligent people, who instead of being intimidated with his nasty behaviour, did exactly the opposite, which can be proved through:
the involvement of Scotland Yard in this abduction case, also the assistance of PJ of Oporto in this issue, with their real belief or fact that Madeleine is alive, waiting to be found.

Re: Home Secretary sends formal request to Portugal
There was a vast measure of arrogance in Goncalo Amaral, Pedro. And this is such a bad thing to be for anyone. But it is a moral issue. You either understand or you don't. Goncalo Amaral obviously doesn't understand. But then he is an immoral person, so completely incapable of understanding what he did.
And for that, I feel sorry for him. Me? I agonise about everything I do if it is likely to offend anyone.

2. The British Prime Minister, David Cameron, this time chose the Algarve to spend a few vacation days. The Cameron, the couple and their three children, opted for a rural tourism unit and have sought to make the life of any ordinary family. David Cameron and wife have been seen shopping and were photographed to acquire fish market Aljezur. Not outside the security that inevitably accompany them as discreetly that it is possible, and nobody would be in the presence of one of the most relevant personalities from around the world and one of the most powerful in Europe. And yet, allowed to be captured images that stay in Portugal, which inevitably passed borders.
You have to be grateful. Images relaxed that it passed the media did more than the Algarve tourism fairs and all official promotions carried out in the UK.
Moreover, in recent years, motivated by the unfortunate disappearance of little Madeleine McCann, Portugal and the Algarve have been the target of a negative campaign conducted by the British media, whose noise has not been easy to absorb.
The presence of Cameron in our country is a valuable aid for the recovery of the image of Portugal as a country safe and for the affirmation of the Algarve as one of the best quality European destinations.
------------
Many thanks to the member who spotted this. What was the deal? I'll have a family holiday in the Algarve if Portugal gives the Yard the go-ahead to operate in Portugal?

God spare us from ignorant forkers-
Why did Justine leave a pile of papers under a sofa in the villa, before collecting her P45 and departing on bad terms?
What was in those papers anyway?
What papers? Do they really know so little? Are they not aware that Duarte Levy invented the whole story, as he and Amaral invented so much else?
Really, the best thing the whole lot of the haters could do is stop posting for a month and take the time to sort fact from fantasy; they would be horrified to realise how LITTLE they actually know.

To answer the question - I hope they do.
No body = no post mortem.
And the converse is also true.
Disgusting - and further proof that Amaral supporters hate Madeleine McCann as much as they hate the rest of her family.

Re: Home Secretary sends formal request to Portugal
Probably nothing, as it involves MWT:
http://www.itv.com/presscentre/ep1week33/run
quote -
The team then travels to the Algarve on the trail of Nigel Burnell, and finds him in a karaoke bar where he reveals to an undercover reporter that he works in a strip club occasionally, 'doing the music'. Mark asks the Portuguese police to arrest him as Burnell is the subject of an international arrest warrant. But the Portuguese police say they are unaware of the warrant and cannot arrest him. Mark describes how frustrating he finds the situation: “This is a man who has been on the run for a long time, he’s out there unable to be caught because of an administrative issue. The worst case scenario of course is that he goes on his toes and he goes missing again.”
His wife Maureen tells Natasha she thought he was the perfect husband - until he was arrested for a sex offence: “He was the type of guy that everybody loved. We had lots of friends. Everybody loved him. Everybody called him Taff. Everybody loved him. Totally disgusted that I could have been conned by a man like that and it’s left me with a wall that I build and I don’t let anybody over that wall. It’s not a nice feeling and he’s not a nice person.”
Having given the police a fortnight to arrest Burnell, Mark returns to the Algarve after hearing he is still at large, in an attempt to confront him.
The pay-to-read Sun seems to be getting agitated as well:
Snared...fiend ‘let off’ by Maddie row cops
FUGITIVE Brit sex offender was allowed to remain free by Portuguese cops — in a row over the Madeleine McCann probe.
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/5065155/British-sex-offender-remained-free-after-Portugese-cops-refused-to-take-him-in.html
Until someone who has handed over personal info like their granny's blood group to the Sun, posts the full story it's going to have to languish unread.
As MWT is involved, it's probably a load of hype and hot air about nothing. Especially as the Sun didn't even manage to spell 'Portuguese' properly in the link.

It's not our fault Amoral couldn't find his own backside with the lights out, the formerly fat fool's your responsibility.
PS - if you don't get a move on, we'll send Mark Witless Thomas over with that female from Come Dancing and let them go nonce-hunting in the Algarve to make you lot look useless again.
Yours ever,
M.

Sex offender may be in Plymouth area after breaching terms of licence
Tuesday, May 04, 2010
A SEX offender being hunted by police in Wales could have fled to the Plymouth region, it is feared.
Nigel George Burnell is facing a recall to prison after breaching the terms of his licence by failing to notify the authorities of a change to his address.
The 45-year-old is wanted by South Wales Police, but has now not been seen since Friday, March 5.
Burnell, who is from Bridgend in South Wales, may be in Devon, Cornwall or Dorset, investigators believe.
They are desperate for information concerning his whereabouts, and are urging people in Plymouth to be on the lookout for anyone matching his description.
Burnell is described as white, 5ft 6ins tall and of medium build.
He has brown receding hair and blue eyes.
A police spokesman said: "Efforts are continuing to trace Nigel Burnell. and we would appeal for anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact South Wales Police.
"The public can be reassured that stringent procedures are in place for dealing with sex offenders and that they are adhered to by the police and statutory partners at a local, regional and national level."
Anybody with information should call police on 01656 655555 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
