Ian Timlin, a former litigation partner at City law firm Speechly Bircham, was held by Met anti-corruption detectives investigating the alleged bribery of police officers. The senior lawyer was arrested at his home in Kent on suspicion of conspiracy to corrupt a police officer, perverting the course of justice and money-laundering offences.

The investigation relates to his work for James Ibori, the ex-governor of Delta State in Nigeria who was jailed last year for embezzlement. Mr Ibori admitted stealing almost £50m, although the true amount may have been many times greater.

I really don't understand him at all, Pedro. He had a God sent opportunity to make his career for all time, but he had to get twisted by that thug Cristovao, who almost certainly, personally beat up Leonor Cipriano.

Remember, Cristovao had already 'retired' from the PJ after the mysteriously-dropped rape allegations, and his conviction for stealing €800 from the PJ.

Given Gonc's chaotic domestic situation at the time, and the charges over Cipriano, I suspect he thought if he could somehow twist the evidenceto benefit him, and ignore what didn't, he could save his sorry hide? That doesn't explain why Team Gonc was spreading anti-McCann propaganda so quickly, though - hopefully, that is one of the side issues the Yard/Porto PJ will be looking at.

amaral crashed and burned, his thirst for easy fame and dirty fortune, along with his ego or arrogance made him act with the despicable behaviour. When he saw that PJ sacked him, he decided to initiate attacks against innocents, what he didn´t expect is that those innocents are intelligent people, who instead of being intimidated with his nasty behaviour, did exactly the opposite, which can be proved through:

Moreover, in recent years, motivated by the unfortunate disappearance of little Madeleine McCann, Portugal and the Algarve have been the target of a negative campaign conducted by the British media, whose noise has not been easy to absorb.

The presence of Cameron in our country is a valuable aid for the recovery of the image of Portugal as a country safe and for the affirmation of the Algarve as one of the best quality European destinations.

A SEX offender being hunted by police in Wales could have fled to the Plymouth region, it is feared.
Nigel George Burnell is facing a recall to prison after breaching the terms of his licence by failing to notify the authorities of a change to his address.

The 45-year-old is wanted by South Wales Police, but has now not been seen since Friday, March 5.
Burnell, who is from Bridgend in South Wales, may be in Devon, Cornwall or Dorset, investigators believe.

They are desperate for information concerning his whereabouts, and are urging people in Plymouth to be on the lookout for anyone matching his description.
Burnell is described as white, 5ft 6ins tall and of medium build.
He has brown receding hair and blue eyes.
A police spokesman said: "Efforts are continuing to trace Nigel Burnell. and we would appeal for anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact South Wales Police.
"The public can be reassured that stringent procedures are in place for dealing with sex offenders and that they are adhered to by the police and statutory partners at a local, regional and national level."
