Redheads have their day with Scotland parade

EDINBURGH, Scotland

Canadian comedian Shawn Hitchens called Saturday's Ginger Pride Parade in Scotland a defining moment for the redheads of the world.

About 100 marched through downtown Edinburgh carrying signs with catchy slogans like "Ginger and proud" and "For the love of ginger."

"I believe we sent a message to the world of how proud we are to be gingers," Hitchens told The Scotsman. "It was a special moment for gingers everywhere. All hail the red, orange and pale."

Hitchens said the parade generated plenty of cheers as it made its way to the busy Royal Mile district.

The red-headed Hitchens has developed a show based on his hair color, which he will perform at this year's Edinburgh PBH's Free Fringe, the newspaper said.

Natural place to hold it considering red hair is seen on the heads of only four percent of people. Most of these exist in the U.K., the Republic of Ireland, and Australia.

The highest percentage of natural redheads in the world is in Scotland (13%), followed closely by Ireland with 10%. In the US, about 2% of the population are natural redheads. LL

oooo I'm one of them....although it's only about 30% of my hair colouring now because it's gone brown the older I've got. Dad and his relatives haven't gone grey, just browner.

Don't like my 2-tone arms though, brown and freckled on the tops and white and few freckles underneath---it's a very odd look Hahau
