Police in riot gear have cordoned-off the Lawnmarket area in Edinburgh's city center. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a man with a bomb strapped to his chest

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said that “police in Edinburgh are currently attending an address in the Lawnmarket after receiving a report of concern for a male occupant.
“The incident is ongoing however there is no threat to the wider public
“An area around the Lawnmarket is at present cordoned off to pedestrians and traffic as we work to bring this matter to peaceful conclusion.”
Emergency service raced to Lady Stair’s Close, an area near the mound, according to Live Edinburgh News.

All seems to have quietened down. As the Festival is still going on, mayhap it was some idiotic street performer, or a drunk. Or a genuine nutter.
