The McCanns were first warned of an alarming number of cases in the Algarve by British consul Bill Henderson.

When police made public their files on the case in the summer of 2008, Kate discovered five cases of British children being sexually abused in their beds while on holiday and while their parents slept in another room.

She wrote in her book: "It broke my heart to read the terrible accounts of these devastated parents and the experiences of their poor children.

"What these cases do demonstrate however, is that British tourists in holiday accommodation were being targeted.

"It is so hard not to scream from the rooftops about how these crimes appear to have been brushed under the carpet."

She has also revealed she is tortured by a belief an abuser is responsible for her daughter's disappearance.

She wrote in the book: "When Madeleine was first stolen, paedophiles were all we could think about, and it ate away at us.

"The truly awful manifestation of what I was feeling was a macabre slideshow of vivid pictures in my brain that taunted me relentlessly.

"I was crying out that I could see Madeleine lying, cold and mottled on a big grey stone slab.
"The idea of a monster like this touching my daughter, stroking her, defiling her perfect little body, just killed me over and over again."

Three paedophiles thought to have been in Portugal when Madeleine McCann vanished were said to have been put on a list of suspects British police drew up after announcing their review.

They included two Brits. One, child molester Raymond Hewlett, died in 2010 from throat cancer after refusing to speak to investigators hunting for Madeleine McCann.

One theory officers were said to be investigating was that Hewlett (64) snatched Madeleine to sell her to gypsies who were apparently trafficking children to Morocco. Scotland Yard has refused to discuss him.

Urs Hans von Aesch, who shot himself dead after kidnapping and murdering five-year-old Ylenia Lenhard in his native Switzerland, has also been put in the frame over Madeleine.

A new Portuguese police team was mobilised to make inquiries on missing Madeleine after Home Secretary Theresa May sent an official request for assistance to Portugal's Attorney General's office in July.

The Algarve-based officers are understood to work for the Policia Judiciaria's Faro-based southern division, the same division tasked with the original probe into Madeleine's disappearance headed by disgraced former police chief Goncalo Amaral.

He is currently being sued by Kate and Gerry over a controversial July 2008 book he wrote accusing them of covering up their daughter's death in their apartment by faking an abduction.

British police were expected to work along Portuguese police on the new inquiries but that has so far failed to materialise.

Pedro do Carmo, the Policia Judiciaria's National Deputy Director, refused to discuss the work Portuguese police were doing.

He said: "British authorities sent a rotatory letter to Portugal which was forwarded by the Public Prosecution Service to the Policia Judiciaria so it could be complied with in the normal way."

yep, no wonder the British Counsel was so quick to get to them. He knew what had been going on as was quite aware of how the Portuguese "investigated" stuff.

It was the logical thing to do and, of course, the forkers, hounders and Co do seem to be clueless in the ways of the big wide world. They put that down to the government and every Tom, Dick and Harry being INNIT, as we all know. When the reality was that it was the consulate doing a part of it's normal remit.

The McCann-haters who are currently ranting, raving and frothing would be well advised to STFU till the actual programme airs tomorrow night - look where speculating and believing every single word in tabloids is 100% accurate has got them so far.

They also need to grasp one or two realities. As the Yard is very well aware, 'eye witnesses' are notoriously unreliable, and the McCann-haters really should have remembered that instead of ranting for six years about 'inconsistencies' as if that was damning.

To add, I think this is why Isabel Duarte failed to attend court the other day. I think she has walked out on the MCanns knowing this is taking yet another ludicrous turn. They've ruined her career IMO

Because nothing of much note was going on before 10pm on the 3rd, it could have started with all the people involved being out by a few minutes. Then further errors crept in as things were being translated back and forth.

Gonc the disgraced perjurer didn't stir himself to do anything besides decide uncertain memory is a sure sign of guilt, so whipped things up further.

By the time we get to Dodgy Translations and police statements leaked by Duarte Levy, then God knows what's accurate and what isn't.

Do try to remember that the Yard laid special emphasis on what's in the PUBLIC DOMAIN.

Because here's the thing.

The real police know that if witness statements are 100% accurate, tally 100%, then they're a pack of lies.

If no-one can be sure what they were doing and when they were doing it, and statements seemingly contradict each other, then it's a fair bet the witnesses are telling the truth.

It's only armchair defectives, pretendycops and disgraced perjurers who think it's the other way round.

The timeline we have now established has given new significance to sightings and movements of people in and around Praia da Luz at the time of Madeleine's disappearance.

The McCann-haters might like to think about that instead of wildly speculating yet again.

We know where the McCanns and their friends were. Where were other people in and around PDL? Maybe not where they have claimed to have been?

Try thinking, just for once.

Their daughter, dressed in pink shorts, a light pink T-shirt and pink hat, will be seen running across the court, clutching a batch of tennis balls just days before she vanished from the Algarve.

Now, shouldn't the McCann-haters have waited for more information, before jumping to conclusions yet again and making remarks like,


If Madeleine was the ball girl at her father's tennis match at 6:00 O'clock, how could she have been in 5A at 6:30, bathed and ready for bed, all dressed up like an angel in white, according to Payne's rogatory statement? How are they going to explain that one?

See how silly they've made themselves look? If they hadn't speculated then they would have known that that sequence referred to a DIFFERENT DAY.
