If I remember correctly, those who donated could also be called upon to pay costs? It's something like that but we discussed it quite some time ago.

Maybe another poster could verify?

Simple response to that.

It is the perfect example of him showing that he really has no understanding of the law.

He was in contempt of court. He was rightly punished for that contempt. If he has any issue with that he should take it up with Mr Justice Tugendhat. It is no business of anyone else and most certainly not the business of his descendants.

The man is a fool with a disgracefully poor lack of understanding of the legal profession and the laws he was once supposed to be upholding (till he was ignominiously reprimanded for his appalling actions).

In answer to the question above - no - someone who contributes money to help fund a defence would not be called upon to contribute more if the defence fails.

On the other hand, someone who funds a plaintiff may be called upon if the plaintiff fails and costs are awarded against them.

Which if you think about it is sort of equitable.
