It is possible that repeated beatings around the head with a solid cardboard tube could do this sort of damage. But it would need to be long and sustained.
Personally, I think that they went too far, and knew that they had done, long after Leonor had confessed. But it was all such fun by then. And these sort of people have no boundaries. They never know when to stop. Which is why they do it in the first place. They actually enjoy bearing up women.

The mere thought of what they did to her makes me feel ill.

Leonor Cipriano got an extra seven MONTHS for being unable to accurately identify the thugs who beat her up - a sentence worthy of Nazi Germany.

Wouldn't you just LOVE him to be wrongly accused of something by some police force none too bothered about human rights, democracy, the rule of law, etc? See how much he approves of torture then.  

I try so desperately hard not to wish this on any of them, and it has lived with me for the last six years. And there have been times when I din't like me all that much because I almost hoped.
