Yes, LL, obviously you were. And thank God for people like your family. I would have defended my God awful stepmother if anyone had come looking for her Jewish roots. And my half brother's. She used to talk to me on rare occasions, and I know how frightened she was.
And I can imagine how traumatised you were, because I was too.
To me it is all quite simple. The Palestinian hierarchy want The Jews dead or gone, and always have, since the end of the last War, if not before. But it ain't going to happen. Not again. Turning the other cheek just doesn't work sometimes. And this is one of those times.
Sorry, it really upsets me. Six Effing Million?

Re: Death in the Middle East
IMO, there is NO comparison between the founders of Israel, and the racist lunatics now in charge, Sabot. You cannot expect Palestinians to have their land stolen, be herded into a ghetto, and be happy about it. Israelis are doing to Palestinians what was once done to their forebears.
Look at their social media, look at those spoiled b*tches posing for selfies to show what plucky heroines they are, while children are being blown to bits by Israeli planes, tanks and naval gunfire a few miles away.
Atrocities against civilians are NEVER acceptable, whoever is committing them.
That's scarey, LL, that bimbo Psaki shouldn't be allowed to comment on anything more difficult than the weather.

Which is why it is best that I don't comment all that often on this subject.
But I remember a time in the shelters when everyone laughed about anything at all.

Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ military wing, has announced it shelled Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion airport with three rockets, the second attack in a week on the Israel's main international airport.
Al Jazeera’s correspondent confirmed that rockets were fired towards the airport from the Gaza Strip on Friday.
A statement from the Palestinian armed group said: "At 11:45am (08:45 GMT), the Qassam Brigades bombarded Ben Gurion airport with three M75 rockets".
On Tuesday, a rocket struck near the airport's runways, effectively shutting Israeli air links to the outside world. Hamas claimed the attack as a "victory" in the conflict.
US and some European airlines had resumed flights on Thursday after a two-day suspension.
According to flight trackers, Air Canada flight AC84 appeared to have circled over southern Israel several times on Friday, unable to land in the airport.
I may be getting my war zones muddled up, but I think the ban was lifted yesterday, which would explain why there is a Canadian jet circling?

It was, but it was left up to the US airlines to decide what to do at their own discretion. LLI think the ban was lifted yesterday, which would explain why there is a Canadian jet circling?

three teenagers were abducted and murdered in an incident that Israel attributes to Hamas
The deaths of those boys has worked out well for Netanyahu, hasn't it? And yes, I do think the current Israeli government is capable of faking their abduction.
That is indeed an interesting piece, LL, lots of well-concealed cynicism about this.

Indeed there is. And, remind me, have we heard anything further re the Palestinian lad who was burned alive in retaliation for this 'abduction' other than some ultra right Israelis have been arrested? Have I missed this? LLbb1 wrote: three teenagers were abducted and murdered in an incident that Israel attributes to Hamas

I read somewhere or other that they were right-wing zionist extremists who'd just been to some zio-nazi rally demanding Death to all Palestinian scum! but that's about it, LL.
I am still waiting to find out how three jewish boys could be kidnapped by armed Palestinians in that particular area of the West Bank....

Three Palestinians Dead Amid Prayer Lockdown
Israelis are blamed for the deaths on a "day of rage" in the West Bank, as only men over 50 are allowed into a Jerusalem mosque.
Call me silly, but I can't see Israel locking young men out of the mosque, thereby giving them something else to be angry about, is going to work out very well.

Some news re the Al-Aqsa Mosque - the Israelis are afraid that there might be riots after Friday prayers so forbidding the young men from the mosque is supposed to stop anything happening. More articles re happenings as well. LL

Telling angry young men NOT to do something is just about guaranteed to make them do it, IMO.

Re: Death in the Middle East
The orthodox Jewish people must rebuild Solomon's Temple in the place it was historically built - twice before and destroyed.
Remember Moses and the Ark of the Covenant and later on the Crusades? It is alleged that the Al Aqsa Mosque was built over the Temple.
There is the large rock in the Mosque said to be Jacob's pillow and also the spot where Mohammed went to heaven. I think that's right.
Just found this link.

Re: Death in the Middle East
Ah yes, I do recall that the mosque is built over...just about everything. Bit of a problem with Jacob's pillow, though, it's also supposedly the Stone of Destiny, in which case it's in Edinburgh Castle....
The timing of the gathering isn’t coincidental: This was the date on which the people of Israel were commanded to take a lamb and sacrifice it, before the exodus from Egypt. The ceremony on Thursday will be, in Israel Defense Forces (IDF) lingo, “practice with live fire.” Slaughtering lambs, sprinkling their blood on the altar by priests dressed in kosher priestly garments and roasting the lambs, with their heads, legs and innards. Just as God intended.
Oh, YUCK.

Re: Death in the Middle East
At the Temple Institute, researchers are working hard to relearn the laws as well as study the architecture, location and necessary tools. “One of the unique elements of the course,” says Friedman, “is the actual practice. In my course, they learned how to sacrifice birds, so we brought stuffed doves, so that the priests would learn how to hold them, how to execute the specific moves. We work on standing in front of the altar to demonstrate the action, so that it’ll become natural to them.”
What? And they call muslims barbarians?

Re: Death in the Middle East
I know, Bonny. Only Orthodox Jews believe in the sacrifice. For instance in the US, most are Conservative etc.
Sincere apologies, I mis-remembered about the Jewish connection to the rock in the Dome of the Rock. It was where Abraham offered his son in sacrifice.

Re: Death in the Middle East
Thanks, Lily - it's a beautiful mosque.
It's at times like this that I think this particular 'God' has been having a laugh all along, as the three branches of his followers have spent centuries shedding each other's blood, and other people's.
