Re: Death in the Middle East
AJ is reporting the same as this story:
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-07-25/john-kerry-fails-broker-gaza-truce
Over the past few days, John Kerry flew to Egypt, where among other things, he proposed a weekling Gaza Truce. Alas, that was one taxpayer funded trip for the Secretary of State flushed down the drain:
ISRAEL CABINET UNANIMOUSLY OPPOSED KERRY PLAN: CHANNEL 1
ISRAEL'S SECURITY CABINET HAS REJECTED GAZA CEASEFIRE PROPOSAL, SEEKS MODIFICATIONS -GOVT SOURCE
AP had some more details:
Israel on Friday rejected a Gaza ceasefire proposal presented by US Secretary of State John Kerry, Israeli public television reported.
"The security cabinet has unanimously rejected the ceasefire proposal of Kerry, as it stands," Channel 1 said, adding that ministers would continue discussing it.
Or, largely just as was expected (because even Bloomberg is now reporting how the entire middle east is mocking John Kerry). But perhaps the reason why gold appears to have suddenly found a bid is the following:
JOHN KERRY TO SPEAK FROM CAIRO LATER TODAY
Because just when you thought things couldn't get any worse, John Kerry opens his mouth..
.....though AJ isn't being rude about Kerry, so far at least. No details, but Kerry is supposedly due to speak in Cairo.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-07-23/kerry-s-gaza-truce-bid-undercut-by-rifts-in-region.html
The top U.S. diplomat hurriedly departed for the Middle East this week with his customary eagerness to tackle complex international issues. “We’ve got to get over there,” Kerry told an aide in a phone call picked by Fox News microphones as he made the rounds of Sunday talk shows. “It’s crazy to be sitting around.”
'Top US diplomat'? He leaves bloodshed, chaos and war behind him wherever he goes. Perhaps he should try 'sitting around' for a change?

Re: Death in the Middle East
http://news.sky.com/story/1307709/israel-may-broaden-assault-as-truce-stalls
Israel is preparing to "broaden" its ground assault on Gaza after reportedly rejecting an international plan for a temporary truce.
US Secretary of State John Kerry remains "confident progress can be made" on a seven-day truce that would "bring people together to create a more durable plan".
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told him the country's military would begin a 12-hour pause in its offensive from 7am (5am UK time) on Saturday, according to a US official.
But shortly after these comments, Israel's defence minister told troops: "You need to be ready for the possibility that very soon we will instruct the military to significantly broaden the ground operation in Gaza."
One or two hospitals and schools must still be standing.

Re: Death in the Middle East
Let us not forget that the US, as in 'US secretary of state Kerry' was the ONLY country in the world to vote against Israeli war crimes being investigated, LL.
Do you really trust Kerry, of all people, to work as an honest broker, when it's his government that is bankrolling Israel? It's a sick joke, a mockery of diplomacy.

I've not seen that before, but since the US has been bankrolling Israel since the end of WW2, nothing surprises me. LL

That was just a few days ago, LL
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jul/23/gaza-crisis-plo-supports-hamas-conditions-for-ceasefire-live-updates#block-53d01db5e4b0a4fb5d85f9df
The United Nations voted 29-1-17 to open an investigation into potential war crimes during the current conflict, with the United States casting the sole 'no' vote. Israeli premier Binyamin Netanyahu called the vote a 'travesty'.
It's a travesty all right, and makes a mockery of Kerry being anywhere near negotiations. Whatever's said in public, in private Israel knows it has nothing to worry about with him running the show.

Biden, the US Vice President, claims he 'is a zionist'. His son is currently up to his corrupt neck in oil-related matters in Ukraine.

That's real double talk as Biden is a RC, and zionists are by definition Jews. Bit like Kennedy claiming to be a Berliner (a small jam donut). LL

Of course not, LL, you have earned your money . There is no comparison with folk like yourself who have worked hard all their lives and given society far more than they have taken out.
These bloodsuckers are something else, they just don't care how many people die as long as the $$$$$ keep coming in. Remember the old Bob Dylan song, Masters of War? That's them.

Not quite dear lady. I inherited a very large amount of dosh! And also property. I did indeed also work but started off with a big advantage. Some might say I had it easy, but they would be well off the mark. At least I can hold my head up and proudly say I have never sponged off anyone, no state benefits either. LL

Re: Death in the Middle East
Israel has now killed 1,000 Palestians.

Gazans survey devastation as lull takes hold
Gaza death toll from 19 days of Israeli offensive tops 1,000 according to Gaza health ministry
[video]
Beit Hanoun, Gaza Strip - The bodies of dozens of Palestinians were pulled from the ruins of bombed-out homes in Gaza on Saturday during a brief humanitarian truce that top diplomats meeting in Paris urged Israel and Palestinian faction Hamas to extend.
The death toll from the 19-day Israeli offensive on Gaza reached 1,000 on Saturday, according to Gaza health ministry.
More than halfway into the 12-hour ceasefire, medics said 85 bodies had been retrieved from buildings ground into rubble across the Gaza Strip. Thirty-seven Israeli soldiers have also been killed, along with two Israeli civilians and a Thai foreign worker.
Palestinians ventured onto Gaza's streets after the truce took effect, some eager to check on homes they had fled, others to stock up on food and other items while it was still safe to do so.
In many places they found astonishing devastation: apartment buildings levelled, entire blocks of homes completely wiped out by relentless Israeli bombardment.
For Sareya al-Massri, the truce provided a rare window to return home to collect clothes for her 10 children. "Nothing is left. We lost everything," said al-Massri, wiping away tears with a white tissue as she surveyed what was once her three-storey home in Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza.
Al-Massri fled her home last week under intense Israeli shelling. She is now living at Gaza City's Beach refugee camp with her husband, children and grandchildren. The family's house sits in ruins after it was hit by an Israeli F-16 missile. "My husband doesn’t yet know… I don't know how I'm going to tell him," she said.

Re: Death in the Middle East
Remember the film Exodus? LL
This land is mine; God gave this land to me
This brave and ancient land to me
And when the morning sun reveals her hills and plain
Then I see a land where children can run free
So take my hand and walk this land with me
And walk this lovely land with me
Though I am just a man, when you are by my side
With the help of God, I know I can be strong
Though I am just a man, when you are by my side
With the help of God, I know I can be strong
To make this land our home
If I must fight, I'll fight to make this land our own
Until I die, this land is mine.
