Re: Sir Cliff Richard's Berkshire property searched by police in relation to an alleged historical sex offence.
South Yorkshire's Police Commissioner has refused to resign over the Rotherham child sex abuse scandal.
Shaun Wright is facing calls to stand down, including by his own Labour Party, in the wake of a damning report which revealed more than 1,400 children were victims of abuse there between 1997 and 2013.
It detailed examples of 11-year-olds being gang raped and children being forced to watch violent sex abuse while being threatened that they would be next.
Mr Wright was a Labour councillor for Rotherham until he was elected Police Commissioner in 2012, and was in charge of children's services from 2005 to 2010.
I am tired of saying how disgusting these corrupt bas.tards are. Anyone with a shred of honour or backbone would resign instantly.

Re: Sir Cliff Richard's Berkshire property searched by police in relation to an alleged historical sex offence.
Notice something, Lily? The start of this thread - the BBC link:
The search in Sunningdale was carried out by South Yorkshire Police, which told the BBC it did not force entry to the property.
The investigation is not connected to Operation Yewtree and police said officers from that operation - set up by the Metropolitan Police to investigate hundreds of allegations in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal - had been notified.
Thames Valley Police said it had assisted the South Yorkshire force with the execution of a search warrant at the property.
Eight plain-clothed police officers in five unmarked cars arrived to conduct the search which ended at about 15:30 BST.
And:
South Yorkshire's Police Commissioner has refused to resign over the Rotherham child sex abuse scandal claiming he was unaware of the scale of the problem.
Clearly, sending a convoy of police cars to an elderly pop star's occasional abode, all being filmed by the BBC with total disregard for anything resembling long-established law, is much more important than doing anything about OVER A THOUSAND young girls being abused in the most vile ways imaginable.
Priorities!

As a true Guardian reader, and liberal leftie, I didn't want to rock the multi-cultural boat says former Rotherham Labour MP Denis MacShane as he insists no-one raised town's child sex abuse scandal with him
Report found 1,400 children abused between 1997 and 2013 in Rotherham
Victims terrorised with guns and doused in petrol and threatened with fire
Report's author condemned 'blatant' failings by council's leadership
Mr MacShane said there was a culture of 'misplaced racial sensitivity'
Majority of victims described the perpetrators as 'Asian' men
Labour's Shaun Wright, head of children's services 2005-2010, refuses to step down from new role as South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2735194/Girls-young-11-doused-petrol-told-raped-next.html
I don't think I'd better say what I would like to do with these self-serving, corrupt ba.stards.

This sounds too insane to be true, but I know it is true.
Those people who did nothing to help the children after being told what was happening are just as guilty as the perpetrators.
What a complete and utter disgrace that grown people could allow this to happen to kids.
ETA: So why did they go after Cliff Richards?

Re: Sir Cliff Richard's Berkshire property searched by police in relation to an alleged historical sex offence.
I don't know what the truth of all this is, Lily. But when South Yorkshire police resources and manpower are being thrown away on melodramatic 'dawn searches' over thirty year old allegations, at the same time as South Yorkshire police have done worse than nothing about children suffering the most vile abuse imaginable NOW, then something stinks to high heaven. For sure, there is something very wrong in South Yorkshire police.
Will the truth come out? The way things are at present, I doubt it, unfortunately. Maybe the whole rotten edifice needs pulled down, before we have to listen to any more pious bullsh*t about 'lessons being learned'.

From what I've read, they will get - you've guessed it - compensation. As if that's going to make it all right!
Frankly, the links between the police, the Labour party in these areas - or rather, NuLabour - and assorted bottom-feeders should be looked at - but there simply isn't anyone that can be trusted to investigate.

If I were them, I would turn the amount down and sue if it were possible. They will only be offered a pittance?
Heads should be rolling over this and nothing less would do. Definitely an inquiry should be made into how this mess could ever have happened and name and shame the lot of them.
Is everyone so corrupt that no one could do this independently?

http://news.sky.com/story/1325675/who-should-be-called-to-account-in-rotherham
Many people are asking why no-one in a position of responsibility has been held accountable in the wake of the Rotherham sex abuse scandal.
A devastating report revealed at least 1,400 children were sexually exploited over 16 years - between 1997 and 2013 - with girls as young as 11 repeatedly raped by large numbers of men.
The inquiry found Rotherham council knew as far back as 2005 of sexual exploitation on a wide scale - mostly by Asian men - but failed to act.
Three reports into the extent of sexual abuse were published between 2002 and 2006, but were "ignored or suppressed" by the police and council.
Where do you even start with corruption on that scale?
Well, you could start by sacking every single person who knew and, even worse than doing nothing, suppressed the reports. And then put each and every one of them on trial for conspiracy to abuse children - because THEY COVERED IT UP AND LET IT GO ON.
How many of them are involved? Dozens? Hundreds? However many, unless there is a complete clean-out, then nothing will happen. And nothing will happen after the next scandal like this, it will just carry on.

Quite seriously, this is the sort of thing that can end with politicians decorating lampposts; the sheer scale of this abomination beggars belief - but the people who not only ignored it, but deliberately let it happen, don't seem to care greatly.
Look at that prat of a councillor saying he didn't speak out because he read the Guardian and it wouldn't have been politically correct.
And? So what? Is falling out with NuLabour luvvies more important than HUNDREDS of children being unspeakably abused? It must be, to spineless gits like him.

Local Labour party gets tough:

Police Commissioner Given Ultimatum By Labour
Shaun Wright is warned he must resign over the Rotherham child abuse scandal or be suspended from the Labour Party.
South Yorkshire's Police and Crime Commissioner has been told he must resign over the Rotherham child abuse scandal or be suspended from the Labour Party.
Shaun Wright, who was responsible for children's services at the town council for five of the 16 years when at least 1,400 children were abused, has resisted growing calls for him to stand down.
A Labour source told Sky News: "We have given Shaun Wright time to reflect. If he has not resigned by the morning we will suspend him from the Labour Party."
Earlier, Home Secretary Theresa May also piled pressure on Mr Wright to quit his £85,000-a-year job, saying he "has real questions to answer".
Mr Wright told Sky News he was "completely astonished" at the extent of the abuse revealed in a damning report, which told of 11-year-olds being gang raped and children being forced to watch violent sex abuse while being threatened they would be next.
But Professor Alexis Jay, who headed the inquiry, cast doubt on claims people had been unaware of the problem, which had been set out "unambiguously" in seminars and reports.
She also told Sky News nearly everyone in positions of authority should have done more.
Mr Wright was a Labour councillor for Rotherham until he was elected Police Commissioner in 2012, and was in charge of children's services from 2005 to 2010.
He told Sky News he was unaware of the scale of the problem, adding: "I take my share of the responsibility.
"There was systemic failure. I only wish that I knew more at the time. If I knew then what I know now then clearly more could have been done.
"I do have regrets I wasn't more aware of the issue at the time."
He claimed information was not "escalated up" to the political level or senior managers.
But pointing to a number of seminars and reports detailing the abuse, Prof Jay told Sky News: "I would be surprised if anyone could say at the end of that, they didn't know."
Roger Stone, the leader of Rotherham Council, stepped down with immediate effect following the publication of the report.
Chief Superintendent Jason Harwin, police district commander for Rotherham, said no officers had faced disciplinary action but added: "A number of individuals that were in the service then are no longer in the service."
Solicitor David Greenwood, who represents some of the victims, told Sky News they intend to take legal action against the authorities.
More follows...
'Suspended from the Labour Party'? Oh, the horror of it - that'll teach him.

So they should run those horrendous headlines. Maybe it will now sink into the scum bags.
That one girl had to go overseas? She should sue for millions. It won't change anything but will make her more comfortable now.

Breaking news on Sky-
http://news.sky.com/story/1325838/police-commissioner-resigns-from-labour-party
South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner Shaun Wright has resigned from the Labour Party, and said he will continue in his job.
He announced the move an hour after Labour began action to suspend him from the party over his perceived failings in the Rotherham child abuse scandal.
A party spokesman had said moves to suspend the Labour PCC would begin on Thursday morning if he still had not resigned from the post he has held for two years.
Shaun Wright was a Rotherham councillor, charged with heading up the local authority's child protection services at the height of the scandal, where an estimated 1,400 children are believed to have been groomed and abused by gangs of Asian men.
Big deal - getting kicked out of the Labour party.
