Re: America goes to the polls
I am genuinely stunned that so many people are so stupid, they cheered this on like sheep, and didn't bother to think for one minute about what they were opening the door to, Lily.
Begging the government to control the internet? What could possibly go wrong?
Better start brushing up your Morse code, oiling old typewriters, stocking up on carbon paper, etc. Oh, and best all get used to using dead letter drops, like in the good old spying days. It's only a matter of time before Washington decides that anyone writing letters, instead of using the lovely, regulated internet, must be up to No Good.

Bonny, am genuinely sickened to the core. We know what's ahead, millions of other fools don't.

There may still be hope, Lily:

Republican Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul earned a standing ovation at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) Friday, with members of the conservative activist crowd chanting “President Paul” at one point.
Paul made clear overtures to a presidential run. The video of his speech is below. Here are some highlights:...more at link.

Thank you so very much for posting that, Bonny. The apple does not fall far from the tree does it? What a brilliant speech. The US needs him and so does the rest of the world.

Re: America goes to the polls
It sure does, Lily. I doubt if it's coincidence that this is happening in Chicago -
http://www.infowars.com/exposed-the-hidden-truth-behind-americas-black-sites/
You have to wade through the rhetoric a bit to get to the heart of the story, but it does appear that some kind of 'black' detention centre has been operating outwith the law in Chicago.
It seems to have been the Guardian that broke this story:
http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/feb/26/police-black-site-chicago-washington-politicians-human-rights
Now, the reaction may be to say, So what, I don't care what happens to troublemakers and gangbangers. The point is that if the rule of law can be so easily torn up for these people, then it can and will also be torn up for people who are late paying their fines for not buying Obamacare, going on an internet site the FCC doesn't approve of - any number of the many petty new restrictions Obama has inflicted on the US public.
And why is no-one objecting? Well, I saw this likened to a frog in boiling water; the water has been heated up so slowly, the frog doesn't notice till it's too late.

Re: America goes to the polls
Oh, and just think of all those Americans who saw nothing wrong with 'terrorists' being tortured at 'black' CIA sites. Now Chicago PD has its very own 'black' prison, where the rule of law doesn't apply to Americans, and there are probably others. See how easily it happens, how readily people give away their rights?
Should have listened to Ron Paul.

I hope Rand Paul makes a run for the Presidency - and succeeds - Lily. I know he's not his father, but he's head and shoulders above the rest of them. And he respects your Constitution.

He certainly does respect it, Bonny. I think that someone who is at the right of center will prevail in the next elections.
I hope that Senator Rand Paul does his best and it would be wildly wonderful if he wins.

Re: America goes to the polls
It sometimes seems to me, from the outside, that it's even got beyond simple Left/Right, Lily. Obama is inflicting this liberal-marxist culture on the US at one level, while vulture capitalists like Harry Reid work hand in glove with his administration to rip off anything that's left after the government has rifled the public's pockets.
I saw him described as a Constitutional conservative, which sounds about right. Less government - less corruption, though I don't envy anyone trying to clean the mess up.

I think he has at least got some idea of how to do that, Bonny. It would be tough, but someone's got to do it.
Oh and someone who is not susectible to corruption.

I am not even going to attempt to understand the ins and outs of all this:

hdr22@clintonemail.com - How A Romanian Hacker Exposed Hillary Clinton's Secret Email Life
Suffice to say, Hilary Clinton appears to have been using her own, ordinary email addie for EVERYTHING, so no doubt all sorts of goodies are about to leak out.
Among the other memos to Clinton can be found titles like “Comprehensive Intel Report on Libya,” and included all-cap warnings that, “THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION COMES FROM EXTREMELY SENSITIVE SOURCES AND SHOULD BE HANDLED WITH CARE.”
Quite right too. It would be dreadful if the entire world got to read her secret, secret emails. That's a nice one she got about Libya - about the time the US ambassador was murdered, if memory serves?

More there, apologies, I got the year of the Benghazi deaths wrong.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton used a personal email account to exclusively conduct official business during her time at the State Department, a move that raises questions about access to the full archive of her correspondence, as well as the possibility that she violated federal law requiring official messages to be retained for the record.
Astounding stupidity and arrogance.

Re: America goes to the polls
Ooops, I forgot too! Perhaps Netanyahu should read the story of Esther and take note of what happened to Haman? I see Obama said Netanyahu had offered no viable alternative to the current negotiations and that Nancy Pelosi said he had insulted the US people. I am inclined to agree with both of them. This was just a stunt to up the ratings as the election draws closer. LLlily wrote:Just remembered, today is the Jewish Festival of Purim.

Re: America goes to the polls
I've been reading US reactions to all this, and one of the problems seems to be that well-meaning folk in the US see Israel as it was fifty or sixty years ago, not as it is now.
Vested interests in the media and elsewhere present this tale of plucky little Israel, surrounded on all sides by mad headchoppers, where Holocaust survivors bravely fight off invaders daily in between raising organic produce in communes.
They don't see modern, apartheid Israel, covered in barbed wire and concrete, which keeps stealing other people's land, operates its very own Warsaw ghetto, which it bombs regularly, and refuses to co-operate with international inspectors over its own nuclear weapons.
Quite frankly, the fact that Netanyahu does have nuclear weapons scares me far more than the possibility that Iran may have them at some time in the future.
This is one of those stories where I find I don't like anyone involved in it....

Re: America goes to the polls
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/03/04/state-department-says-netanyahu-twisted-kerry-words-in-speech-to-congress/
The State Department accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of taking congressional testimony by Secretary of State John Kerry out of context in Netanyahu's address to a joint meeting of Congress Tuesday.
In a statement released early Wednesday, State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki quoted in full an article written on the website FactCheck.org that claimed certain remarks made by Netanyahu about Iran's nuclear program "misrepresented what Kerry had said" in testimony before the House Foreign Affairs Committee Feb. 25.
Don't ask me who is telling the truth in all this - if anyone. It is, however, worth remembering that Netanyahu has been claiming that Iran is only 'weeks away' from having an N--bomb for over a decade now.
These days, you're likely to get a closer approximation of the truth from press.tv than anyone in either the US or Israel.

Re: America goes to the polls
Quite a good summary of the wierdness:
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-03-03/why-obama-missed-netanyahus-speech-today
What exactly is Obama doing in the photo above? As Politico explains, "Speaking in the Oval Office with Defense Secretary Ash Carter and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey, Obama said he was unable to watch because he was meeting with European leaders via video conference." A meeting in which the western world brain trust was discussing what... how to best confiscate the funds of broke Greek pensioners to fund the broke US puppet government in Kiev, so they can pay their bills to Gazprom for one more week using the IMF as a conduit?
