Re: Political, financial turmoil in Greece
The other thing is, there's going to be a referendum in the UK in a year or so on whether or not the UK should stay in the EU. A great many people, me included, have changed their minds about that completely recently due to the bullying from Merkel and others.
Hello? We didn't vote to be ruled by Merkel, Juncker and co....

I do feel that, after reading his comments about Greece, Juncker is such an arrogant person. Who would want to be 'ruled' by him?

Re: Political, financial turmoil in Greece
He's absolutely awful, frankly. He seems to be some kind of honorary German - he's actually from that mighty world power, Luxemburg. Rumour has it that he's an alcoholic:
Senior Tory MPs backed their leader yesterday after a Mail on Sunday investigation uncovered a number of fresh reports about his drinking:
A senior diplomatic source told this newspaper: ‘Mr Juncker reportedly has cognac for breakfast’.
He was allegedly ‘blind drunk’, acted in a ‘vulgar’ way and repeatedly used the f-word in a meeting.
A respected German news journal claimed he had ‘drunk too much for years’ in an article headlined Achtung, Alkoholkontrolle! (Attention. Breathalyser Test!).
A top Dutch politician called him a ‘stubborn drinker’, forcing Mr Juncker to issue an angry denial.
An EU envoy told The Mail on Sunday: ‘Juncker and his boozing is the worst-kept secret in Brussels. He is politically and personally unsuited to run the EU.’
His supporters, however, claim he is the victim of a dirty-tricks campaign. One said: ‘He has a proven track record in taking tough decisions.’
Mr Juncker’s father was injured fighting for Hitler, something he cites as one of the reasons for his belief in the EU. He speaks fluent German, though his mother tongue is Luxembourgish. Both are official languages of his home country, as is French.
Germany’s Der Spiegel magazine said: ‘The more often Juncker’s name is dropped, the more the question arises whether he would be sturdy enough for the office of President. Long-time companions report of human weaknesses almost unknown to a broader public.’
His drinking was ‘an open secret’ in Luxembourg, it said, claiming Juncker had ‘drunk too much for years’.

Kicked out? He's on the gravy train for life, like the rest of them. Only the little people get sacked for being drunk at work - not eurocrats.

Juncker is Luxembourgishe - and they are the heaviest European drinkers. LLlily wrote:Oh my!! No wonder he's so nasty, he's sozzled all the time. He should be kicked out.
The World’s Hardest-Drinking Countries
Luxembourg, where residents pound down 15.5 liters of alcohol in a year, on average, ranks first. Close behind are France (14.2 liters), Ireland (also 14.2 liters, a lot more of it from beer), Hungary (12 liters) and the Czech Republic (11.8 liters).

The President and German Chancellor Angela Merkel spoke by phone this morning about Greece. The leaders agreed it is in everyone's interest to reach a durable agreement that will allow Greece to resume reforms, return to growth, and achieve debt sustainability within the Eurozone. The leaders noted that their economic teams are monitoring the situation in Greece and remain in close contact.

Re: Political, financial turmoil in Greece
And just in case anyone still thinks bankers have the foggiest idea what they are doing:
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-07-07/caught-tape-hsbc-bankers-recreate-isis-beheading-execution
HSBC just can't seem to help itself. As The Sun reports, as part of a "team-building" exercise, six bankers filmed the fake ISIS-style beheading of an Asian colleague - while yelling 'Allahu Akbar'. However, given that these were not C-level executives, there has been some consequences - the six bankers have been fired with HSBC noting "this is an abhorrent video and HSBC would like to apologize for any offense."
I cannot even begin to imagine what sort of team they thought they were building...
I liked it when bankers were boring, middle-aged men in suits. Not cokehead ar@eholes that imagine they are indeed Masters of the Universe because they regularly wreck people's lives via fun and games on computer screens.

Of course they will, Bonny.
I read this comment and wondered if anyone knows whether or not it is true?
And today the EU meeting REFUSED to have 1 minute's silence despite 2 requests from UK MEPs - what else do you need to know?

FARAGE ROCKS EU PARLIAMENT: TELLS TSIPRAS – ‘LEAVE THE EURO, RECLAIM YOUR DEMOCRACY’
Rousing speech met with cheers, applause

UKIP leader Nigel Farage gave a rousing speech in front of the European Parliament in Strasbourg today during which he directly told Greece’s Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to lead the Greek people out of the Eurozone and reclaim the country’s democracy.
https://youtu.be/94UcyJnRcGU
Farage told Tsipras that his country should have never joined the euro in the first place, but that it was forced to do so by big banks like Goldman Sachs and German arms manufacturers.
“When the bailouts began, they weren’t for the Greek people, those bailouts were to bailout French, German and Italian banks – they haven’t helped you at all,” said Farage to the sound of applause.
“You have been very brave, you called that referendum, when one of your predecessors tried to do the same, the bully boys of Brussels had him removed,” said the UKIP leader as Tsipras looked on.
“There were threats and bullying, but the Greeks stood firm….they will give you no more these people – they can’t afford to – if they give you more they’ll have to give other Eurozone members more – so your moment has come and frankly if you’ve got the courage you should lead the Greek people out of the Eurozone with your head held high, get back your democracy, get back control of your country, give your people the leadership and the hope that they crave,” added Farage.
The response to Farage’s speech – given that he is normally used to being heckled by pro-Brussels MEPs – was quite momentous as loud applause once again filled the room.

What Farage said in that speech on Youtube is accurate. That was some speech to be honest.

We never seemed to have the problems like United has had today before computers?
