Fresh from the fertile imagination of the Portuguese comes this illumination and boon to mankind: Saint Goncalo.
In its infinite wisdom the Catholic Church has assigned certain curative powers to yet another saint, this time assigning the power to cure hemorrhoids to Saint Goncalo. Yes, that's right, piles. People are flocking to a church in Murtosa, Portugal, the Saint' birthplace. For maximum efficacy, people are exposing their behinds to a statute of the saint. The statute is also considered a cure for pimples. One badly afflicted woman wanted to pray naked in the church, but the local priest stopped it.

It's strangely apt......though I do hope they don't have any Special Secret Rituals......

Do you suppose they have a Special, illuminated, hand-scribed copy of The Truth - I'm a Liar that they worship on Special nights, like the Full Moon?

A Source managed to take this sneaky pic of new initiates joining the Knights of St Goncalol. Part of the ceremony is alleged to involve saying dogsdon'tlie backwards five times, while genuflecting to that piccie of St Gonzo with the spikes coming out of his head.

I think that it would be better if the insane knights of freak saint gonzo being in the secret spying mission of finding taverns to feed the desire for beer which is what gonzo enjoys.

Lisbon Trial: Awaiting the Verdict



Many of you who have been following the trial will be aware of the fact that the deadline for all parties to deliver their legal arguments to the court ended on the 26th of February.

Legal arguments were delivered by several parties and now we await a verdict from the Judge.

Article 607 of the Portuguese Civil Process Code stipulates an indicative period of 30 days after the process is concluded by the Judge. While this is not a legal deadline but merely a recommendation, several jurists believe that this case will receive a relatively swift decision.

Judicial holidays over the Easter period (March 29-April 6, dates are inclusive) mean that no verdict will be issued during this interruption of the Courts' work.

We trust in Justice and serenely await the Judge's decision, in solidarity with Gonçalo Amaral.
