Re: Royal baby: Duchess of Cambridge in early stages of labour
http://news.sky.com/story/1476490/duchess-gives-birth-to-baby-girl
The Duchess of Cambridge has given birth to a girl, Kensington Palace has announced.
The baby weighs 8lbs 3oz and her father the Duke of Cambridge was also present for the birth, the palace said.
The Duchess and the new baby, whose name will be announced "in due course", were both said to be doing well.
The Queen, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall and the baby's uncle Prince Harry had been informed and are "delighted" with the news, the palace added.
Kate was a number of days overdue and had been taken to the Lindo wing of St Mary's Hospital at 6am from her nearby home Kensington Palace.
It was just a few minutes ago. I was watching Kay Burley talk to some bloke about elections and royal babies, when another woman rushed over clutching her cellphone and announced, It's a girl! We've just got the email!

Kay Birley is now frantically trying to think of things to say beyond, It's a princess!
Must say, I was rather taken with the unofficial Town Cryer - he certainly threw himself into the role.

As is being discussed at great length, Princess has equal throne-inheriting rights with her brother George, as it no longer goes strictly down the male line.

It makes a welcome change from shouting politicians, if nothing else.
Meanwhile, Wills has just left the hospital, and has now apparently popped back to Ken Palace to pick up George....

George has now been carried in by his dad, giving the crowd a wave in the process. I think Kay Burley's fainted with joy.

Ah, George has been taken home for his bath and bed. So we are now looking at the hospital doors again. While Kay Burley tries to think of yet more to fill the airtime....

Back out again, with baby in car seat. Much ooh-ing and ahh-ing from crowd.
And they're off home.
