Trump: Scottish Independence should be buried for 50 years
A second independence referendum should have been blocked for half a century Donald Trump has claimed.
The business tycoon, who is running for the Republican Party’s presidential nomination in the USA said the UK Government should have demanded a clause that in the event of a no vote there could be no return to the question for 50 years.
He said it was “crazy” that Scotland could “go through all that again” in an interview with the Press and Journal newspaper.
He said “Cameron, or whoever was planning it… should have secured safeguards to prevent an early repeat.”

Mr Trump said he didn’t want to get involved in Scottish politics but people were repeatedly asking him for his opinion.
He said Scotland was better being “unified as opposed to being independent.”

Re: US politics and election
The Donald can think about more than one thing at once...
http://www.scotsman.com/news/scotland/top-stories/donald-trump-gets-go-ahead-for-25ft-turnberry-fountain-1-3874545
Donald Trump gets go-ahead for 25ft Turnberry fountain
DONALD Trump has been given the go-ahead to erect a massive Roman Chariot fountain outside the Turnberry Hotel.
The US tycoon won a battle to erect the 25ft monument despite concerns that it was too big and out of keeping with the upmarket resort.
The billionaire is to demolish the resort’s current water feature at the entrance to the five-star hotel. In its place will stand a new fountain boasting lions, big cats and an ancient Centurion on top riding the chariot.
Trump, 69, has already erected a smaller, 13ft fountain at his new £5 million clubhouse at the course.
The hotel version, a massive 40 feet in diameter, will weigh in at double the size and is expected to cost more than £100,000.
Planning officials at South Ayrshire Council said they had concerns about the design of the fountain but approved it after ruling that Trump had the right to build it as owner of the resort.
In a written report, they said: “Listed building consent is sought for the demolition of fountain and associated hard landscaping and erection of fountain at Turnberry Hotel.
“The Planning Authority is duty bound to consider the impact of the proposal in the setting of the Listed Building. The courtyard elevation is an important aspect of the building’s setting as it acts as the main entrance point to the hotel.
“When viewed from the east, the fountain will impact on the setting of the listed building given its height and proximity to the hotel. There are some concerns that the fountain is excessive in height and has no contextual reference to the architectural style of listed hotel.
“However, it is considered that the development is reversible and will not directly impact on the fabric of the main hotel building. Given the above, and having balanced the rights of the applicant against the general interest, it is recommended that the application be approved subject to conditions.”
Fountains have become a signature feature of the Trump empire and are sited at many of his top venues across the globe.
It is being made by Florida-based firm Bernardi USA who have previously designed fountains for Trump’s other resorts.
Trump, who is currently running for US President, bought the iconic golf course and hotel last year and pledged to spend a minimum of £100m on renovations.
He immediately renamed the resort in South Ayrshire Trump Turnberry after buying it for an undisclosed sum from the Dubai-based group, Leisurecorp, and said he was determined to make it “the finest resort of its kind anywhere in the world.”
I like the way his presidential ambitions are merely mentioned in passing.
And at least he won't have to worry about droughts affecting his giant fountain in Ayrshire....

Yes, someone is bound to jump in it...
I looked up Trump Fountains out of curiosity:
Definitely large, but not that bad - and one in Ayrshire will soon get that ancient, weathered look.

That restrained little number was erected by James V at Linlithgow Palace - unlike it, Donald's doesn't even have unicorns!
He really does need a unicorn or two, as it's a Scottish fountain....

http://news.sky.com/story/1546310/trump-signs-pledge-ruling-out-independent-run
White House hopeful Donald Trump has signed a party pledge not to run as an independent candidate if he loses the Republican Party's nomination.
"I see no circumstances under which I would tear up that pledge," he said in a news conference at Trump Towers in New York City.
The real estate baron made the announcement following a meeting with Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus.
The party has asked its pool of 17 candidates to sign a non-legally binding loyalty pledge to ensure future party unity, which analysts say was aimed directly at Mr Trump.
The billionaire businessman was booed in a televised debate last month when he refused to rule out a third-party campaign if Republicans didn't pick him as their White House candidate.
The pledge states: "I, _________, affirm that if I do not win the 2016 Republican nomination for President of the United States I will endorse the 2016 Republican presidential nominee, regardless of who it is."
Party chiefs fear an independent campaign by Mr Trump could suck votes away from the eventual Republican nominee, thereby handing victory to the Democratic candidate, which many strategists expect to be Hillary Clinton.
In Thursday's news conference, Mr Trump taunted rival Jeb Bush as "sad" and a "very low-energy person".

I see he met some wildlife.
http://edition.cnn.com/2015/09/03/politics/obama-salmon-spawning-alaska/
Washington (CNN)During his historic trip to Alaska, President Barack Obama spent some time fishing at Kanakanak Beach in Dillingham and in a comical moment, a salmon spawned on his shoes.
Wearing a pair of orange gloves, Obama examined some of the fish that he caught. The second one he picked up began squirting at his shoes.
"Uh-oh, what's happening there?" he asked.

The woman standing by him explained that the salmon was spawning.
"Did you see that? Something got on my shoes," Obama called to the press. "He was spawning a little bit, which, generally you don't want fish spawning on your feet."
"He was happy to see me," Obama added.
He shouldn't touch things, it never ends well. Now, Trump and Putin would both have known what the salmon was doing.....
