Why should they now? I mean isn't everything free? What about perks for the arduous job?

Re: Hopey-changey in the UK
Labour Shadow Chancellor has done just about the worst thing imaginable in reply to Osborne's budget stuff....
What is that little red book he is reading? concerned observers asked. And Lo! It was indeed THAT one...
Jim Pickard @PickardJE
McDonnell is waving around Mao's little red book - apparently oblivious to the signal this sends out.

I don't think it would matter whether McDonnell gave a spectacular response to this. Most Labour MPs are horrified he's even doing it.

Re: Hopey-changey in the UK
"We must learn to do economic work from all who know how. No matter who they are, we must esteem them as teachers, learning from them respectfully and conscientiously. But we must not pretend to know what we do not know."
Chairman Mao
Was that before or after millions of Chinese died of hunger under his vicious regime? No wonder they've embraced capitalism with such enthusiasm!
I though EdHenge was the stupidest thing the Labour party could possibly do - astoundingly, Corbyn's lot have managed to top even that by quoting mass murderer Mao on economics.

Oh, they've now managed even worse....

Ken Livingstone said terrorists ‘gave their lives’ in protest at Iraq invasion
He blamed former prime minister Tony Blair for the 2005 atrocity

Re: Hopey-changey in the UK
This is a very strange one, Lily. Various Tories have apparently been bullying other Tories - which makes a change from them bullying the rest of us. Anyway, Tories get trained in bullying at public schools...
Various Tories have been sleeping around with other Tories - no dead poultry appears to be involved at present. And some young Tory activist allegedly killed himself over - whatever all this is, I can't get a grip on this scandal.

Labour Increases Share Of The Vote In Oldham
A "delighted" Jeremy Corbyn says the extent of the victory shows Labour is the party that "working people trust".etc
Really? Since when did the 'Asian community' *cough* work? No-one in their right minds believes that that is a genuine result, and there are widespread suspicions that it's down to yet more postal vote fraud, and instructions from imams.

http://news.sky.com/story/1599586/farages-fury-over-oldham-by-election-result
Nigel Farage wrote a furious tweet about the Oldham West and Royton by-election - even before the result had been declared.
As candidates were told about the outcome behind closed doors, the UKIP leader tweeted: "As a veteran of over 30 by-elections, I have never seen such a perverse result.
"Serious questions need to be asked."
Mr Farage later claimed he had evidence from an "impeccable source" that postal voting was "bent".
According to Sky's Political Editor Faisal Islam, UKIP supporters were "angry and annoyed" as the votes were counted.

12:33 AM - 4 Dec 2015
Labour's Jim McMahon saw off the party's challenge with a majority of more than 10,000 and an increased share of the vote.
John Bickley collected 2,405 fewer votes than UKIP's candidate back in May - although the turnout was considerably higher at the General Election.
He claimed the postal voting system was "not fit for democracy right now", while UKIP's deputy leader Paul Nuttall said postal votes had "distorted the result".
Mr Nuttall said: "We should go back to the old system where you had to give a good reason why you can't get off your backside and go down to a polling booth. etc.
Quite.

http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/14133530.Alistair_Carmichael_cleared_by_election_court_judges_after__Frenchgate__legal_challenge/
LIBERAL Democrat MP Alistair Carmichael has been cleared by election court judges after legal action challenged his election.
The ruling follows a three-day Election Court hearing at the Court of Session buildings in Edinburgh last month.
It came after four of Mr Carmichael's constituents launched a bid to oust him from his Orkney and Shetland seat. Following the ruling, Mr Carmicheal said the case was "politically motivated" and "a mark of the unhealthy polarisation of Scottish politics since the referendum." He pledged to continue as an MP.....etc.
I haven't read it properly yet, but the gist of it seems to be that the action has failed because he didn't lie for personal gain....

Re: Hopey-changey in the UK
In a judgement issued in Edinburgh on Wednesday, Lady Paton wrote: “If a candidate in the course of an election campaign made a false statement to the effect that he had ‘never been convicted of forgery/bribery/extortion (when in fact he had been so convicted) it is likely that we would be persuaded that the words amounted to a false statement ‘in relation to his personal character or conduct’.
“In the present case, when speaking to the Channel 4 interviewer, the first respondent did not make such an express statement about his personal character or conduct.
“He did not, for example, describe himself as a trustworthy, straightforward and honourable individual who would not be involved in any leak, far less an inaccurate leak.
“Accordingly we are not satisfied beyond reasonable doubt that the words used by the first respondent amounted to a ‘false statement of fact in relation to his personal character or conduct.
“It follows that we are not satisfied beyond reasonable doubt that an essential element of section 106 has been proved.”

A magnificent piece of legal obfuscation. I think it means, Yes, he's a liar, but what he lied about doesn't come under the section alleged.....

Re: Hopey-changey in the UK
It's fairly astounding, really.
Lady Paton said: “There is no dispute that the words ‘I told you the first I became aware of this, and this is already on public record, was when I received a phone call on Friday afternoon [i.e. Friday 3 April 2015] from a journalist making me aware of it’ constituted a false statement of fact, in other words, a lie. Obviously the first respondent had been aware of the existence of the memo and its contents as described to him by Mr Roddin since the flight to the Faroe Islands in March 2015. Moreover he had authorised Mr Roddin to release the memo to the Daily Telegraph.”
However, on the matter of whether the lie could properly be characterised as a false statement of fact “in relation to [his] personal character or conduct”, the judges were left with a reasonable doubt.
Carmichael has saved his skin, but he's been ruled a liar in court. All very bizarre.

Jeremy Corbyn's extraordinary plea to judge: 'Let Muslim fraudster who fleeced pensioners out of £600,000 spend Christmas at home - not in prison'
Fraudster was part of gang of three who targeted the elderly for cash
They told victims they could lose their money if they didn't move it
One of the gang handed letter from Corbyn to the judge in the case
Judge turned down Labour leader's pleas for conman to be given bail

I get the impression the moderates in the Labour party want rid of him ASAP, Lily. Unfortunately, Corbyn only seems to be listening to the Trots, moonbats and general sh*t-stirring losers that voted him in.
