Re: Hopey-changey in the UK
I doubt if Blair feels the slightest bit of shame about any of that.

http://news.sky.com/story/1662752/iain-duncan-smith-resigns-over-disability-cuts
Iain Duncan Smith has decided to resign as Work and Pensions Secretary in the face of further cuts to his department.
Announcing his resignation in a letter, he said: "I have for some time and rather reluctantly come to believe that the latest changes to benefits to the disabled and the context in which they've been made are, a compromise too far.
"While they are defensible in narrow terms, given the continuing deficit, they are not defensible in the way they were placed within a Budget that benefits higher earning taxpayers.
"They should have instead been part of a wider process to engage others in finding the best way to better focus resources on those most in need."
Mr Duncan Smith had been battling to head off a growing Tory rebellion in a Commons vote on the Budget next week....etc.
That came out of the blue - some good news, for a change.

Oh, I suppose that's one of the good things about having a non-political Head of State, the public doesn't have to treat them with the slightest bit of reverence.

TWO senior figures at prominent Scottish mosques have links to a proscribed terrorist organisation, according to the BBC.
Sabir Ali, the head of religious events at Glasgow Central Mosque, and Hafiz Abdul Hamid, the leader of Polwarth Mosque in Edinburgh, have been heavily involved in Sipah-e-Sahaba (SSP).
The outlawed group has previously committed terrorist atrocities in Pakistan.
The BBC says it has evidence showing both men continued to be involved with the Pakistani-based organisation after it was banned in the UK in 2001 although it is not clear whether they are still involved.
Sipah-e-Sahaba was founded in Pakistan in the 1980s. Its followers belong to the Sunni tradition within Islam.
The group and its armed off-shoot, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), have carried out deadly sectarian attacks against Shia Muslims and other religious minorities in Pakistan.
That's the mosque that Sturgeon and co, for some reason best known to themselves, keep trotting off to to 'show solidarity' with Scotland's tiny muslim community.

http://news.sky.com/story/1677504/calls-for-minister-to-quit-media-supervision
The Culture Secretary is facing calls to withdraw from the regulation of the press after admitting he had a relationship with a prostitute.
Responding to reports on the internet over recent weeks, John Whittingdale said it lasted six months but he ended it when he found out someone was trying to sell the story to newspapers.
It happened more than two years ago, he said, when he was chairman of the culture, media and sport select committee of MPs and before he joined the Cabinet last year.
Downing Street said Mr Whittingdale is "a single man who is entitled to a private life" and the Prime Minister "has full confidence in him".
However, campaigners for stricter press regulation said his position has been compromised after it was reported a number of newspapers had investigated the claims but decided not to run the story.
A bit tacky and desperate, but not illegal. And at least it was a grown, adult member of the opposite sex. Oh, and not dead poultry, either.
