US elections - Round Two

This is nothing new, though, it just gets more coverage due to 24 hour news and technology.



1968 riots at Democratic convention. I don't think anyone was killed at that one? Dozens were killed in the riots that followed the assasination of Martin Luther King - imagine seeing that on rolling news nowadays!

Trump may just secure the delegates he needs so that no convention will be needed.  (Sorry,  did not make that clear earlier).  It looks like he may be nominated fairly soon - after going to the Western States.

Ah, so it isn't compulsory to have a Convention?

Trump has to get 1237 Delegates to win the Republican Convention.  If he does not then it will go to the Convention where the Delegates will decide who they will have to be their front runner in the election.  

The Democrats need 2383 to win the nomination.  Otherwise it is similar to ^^^

It is a proportional system.

It could be worse, Lily, it could be the d'hondt system of proportional representation.....I still don't understand how that works.

I find it astounding that the rioters think they are harming Trump's campaign; they don't know much about human nature. Or history.

They are literally proving some comments that Trump has made.

I thought Hillary's speech was absolutely awful, with its tired, old, 1970's Wimmens' Lib rhetoric - and this:



If there's one thing female politicians have proven beyond doubt, it's that they are NOT naturally more competent and less corrupt than men; they're every bit as bad.

Big one tonight - Indiana. I just watched Cruz being demolished by some of the locals....so much for his great debating skillz.

The latest national polls are starting to suggest Trump could beat Hillary......

I loved the two locals giving him hell.  Did you hear the one say "Are you Canadian?"   

Oh yes - that was a car crash for the Great Debater. I don't think the locals were treating him with the deference he thinks he deserves......

Hey, don't knock the Enquirer, LL, they get a lot of stories others are scared to publish. Cruz jnr has made NO effort to sue over the mistresses story.

And look at the trouble the 'celebrity threesome' story has caused in the UK.

I've no idea whether the story about Cruz snr is true or not - there were some very peculiar people in those circles back in the '60s. Probably still are.....

I was neither praising nor knocking the Nat Enquirer, I was merely posting up something that had caught my eye and stating I had no comment to make. Lamplighter

I must confess that this morning the tears were rolling down my face at watching this

I'd forgotten the bit about Cruz spanking children - and when he said that, I suspect it fired voters' memories of those videos of his daughters pulling away from him.

I am struggling to think of a presidential candidate with so few positive personal traits; I can see why no-one who's had dealings with him can stand him.

Oh, I see the Lee Harvey Oswald story is all over the media now. And I have just seen Cruz raving about God, or Trump being an adulterer, or something.

And Cruz has dropped out.

So it rather looks as if The Donald is going to be the Republican nominee for President.
