Re: Syrian terrorists being trained by US
This is going to be the problem, IMO:
US Secretary of State John Kerry said after the council met there remain "sharp differences" on the fate of Mr Assad.
The text makes no mention of Mr Assad's future.
He said: "This council is sending a clear message to all concerned that the time is now to stop the killing in Syria and lay the groundwork for a government that the long-suffering people of that battered land can support."
French foreign minister Laurent Fabius also cast doubt on the future of process if Mr Assad remains, saying guarantees were required and the idea that he could stand in any elections that follow was "unacceptable for us".
Western nations simply have NO right to keep overthrowing governments they don't like, for whatever reason. It's ended in bloodshed and anarchy in Iraq, Libya and Ukraine - apart from Crimea, which ran as fast as it could back to the safety of Mother Russia.
Assad isn't going to go just because Obama tells him to; I will happily bet that, barring assassination, Assad is still President of Syria long after Obama goes, next year.
And why should Assad back down? He's seen what happened to Saddam and Gaddafi courtesy of 'democracy', and what has been done to their countries. The government-held part of Syria is still more or less functioning, with schools, hospitals and food. It's pretty battered, mainly because of the West supplying terrorists with weapons, but it is hanging on, and Christians and other minorities are all not just protected, but normal members of Syrian society.

Re: Syrian terrorists being trained by US

DAMASCUS: Syrian President Bashar al Assad attended Christmas choir preparations in an ancient church close to a frontline area in the capital Damascus where his army is engaged in heavy fighting with rebels, state media said on Saturday.
State television showed footage of Assad and his wife Asma making the visit overnight to the Notre Dame de Damas Church, where he was shown chatting to the choir. He took a seat near the altar and listened to a recital of Christmas poems in the main cathedral hall.
The surroundings of the church in the old part of the ancient capital were hit by mortar fire on Friday, officials said.
The church is only 2 km away from Jobar, a neighbourhood of the rebel-held eastern Ghouta suburb of Damascus that has been the focus for months of heavy aerial bombardments and more recently Russian bombing that have left dozens of mostly civilian casualties.
Rebels have also frequently targeted government-controlled residential parts of central Damascus.
Assad has portrayed himself in recent interviews with the Western media as a protector of Syria's minorities, saying his rule was an example of religious tolerance in a country threatened by Islamist insurgents who have taken swathes of territory and seek to impose their version of strict Islam.
The church visit came at around the same time as the United Nations Security Council unanimously approved on Friday a resolution endorsing an international road map for a Syria peace process, a rare show of unity among major powers on a conflict that has claimed more than a quarter million lives.
It's Assad or the jihadists - there are no 'moderate rebels' any more.

Re: Syrian terrorists being trained by US
From the Sky piece:
the fact that we've got the relevant international powers round the table, including Iran, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, all points to some real progress."
Saudi Arabia, the absolute monarchy that finances terrorists and refuses to take in a single refugee.
Turkey, the rathole of corruption that is hand in glove with terrorists.
At least Iran is actually fighting ISIS, not aiding them.

http://news.sky.com/story/1608841/iraq-us-airstrike-kills-nine-soldiers
An airstrike by the US-led coalition aimed at Islamic State (IS) militants in Iraq has killed nine Iraqi soldiers, according to Iraq's Defence Minister.
The "friendly fire" incident happened as Iraqi troops were fighting the extremists just outside the IS stronghold of Fallujah on Friday.
The US military had said the incident may have killed "up to 10 soldiers", adding that the strikes were in response to requests and information provided by Iraqi security forces on the ground near the city.
All coalition strikes were conducted with the approval of the Iraqi government, the US said.
Iraq's Defence Minister Khaled al-Obeidi said: "The coalition air forces were covering the advance of army ground troops near Fallujah because the Iraqi helicopters were not able to fly due to bad weather.
"The final death toll of the strike is nine soldiers killed, including an army officer."
In a statement, the US military said: "Despite coordination with the Iraqi security forces on the ground, initial reports indicate the possibility one of the strikes resulted in the death of Iraqi soldiers.
"The coalition offers condolences on the unfortunate loss of life of brave Iraq security forces on the front lines in the fight against Daesh (IS).
"To the best of our knowledge, there have been no previous incidents of friendly fire in Iraq involving the coalition during the course of Operation Inherent Resolve."
It said an investigation would be launched into the incident.
Fallujah, 30 miles (50km) west of the capital Baghdad, is IS's main stronghold in Anbar province.
Iraqi forces, backed by daily coalition airstrikes, have been battling jihadist fighters in the province's capital Ramadi.

Assad looks a damned sight healthier than Obungle does these days. Of course, his British-born wife is an attractive woman - not something that is often said about Michelle.

A long read, but essential to understanding what has been done to Syria.
I must say, if sane people at the Pentagon - who haven't yet been purged by Obama - have been deliberately undermining his insane Middle East policies, there is still hope for the US.
Can anyone still doubt that Obama's real sympathies lie with militant islam, and not genuine democracy and moderate/secular islam?

I know, Lily - Syria is almost a repeat of Afghanistan. Fortunately, Assad is made of sterner stuff, and information is much more readily available now.

Israel’s defense minister has alleged that the Islamic State terror group has long been funded with “Turkish money.”
"As you know, Daesh (Islamic State, previously ISIS/ISIL) enjoyed Turkish money for oil for a very, very long period of time. I hope that it will be ended," Moshe Yaalon told reporters in Athens on Tuesday after meeting his Greek counterpart, Panos Kammenos, Reuters reports.

"It's up to Turkey, the Turkish government, the Turkish leadership, to decide whether they want to be part of any kind of cooperation to fight terrorism. This is not the case so far," he said.
Yaalon’s counterpart, Greek Defense Minister Panos Kammenos, made similar statements, saying that a large part of the Islamic State’s oil trade, as well as the financing of terror, is going through Turkey.
Earlier, Russia had accused Turkey of shady dealings with ISIS. In December, the Russian Defense Ministry released maps and satellite images it said proved that Turkey was the main consumer of oil smuggled out of Syria and Iraq by the terrorists. The ministry also claimed that the Turkish president and his family were involved in the criminal dealings.
Iran has also said it was in possession of photographic and video evidence of ISIS oil entering Turkey in trucks.
In December, Syria’s envoy to the UN Bashar al-Ja’afari also accused Turkey of supporting terrorist groups. The diplomat appealed to the UN, urging it to end Ankara’s "violations and crimes."...etc.
Ooops, I think Israel has just thrown the Washington script away.....

Re: Syrian terrorists being trained by US
Tareena Shakil, 26, was convicted last week of being a member of the group and encouraging acts of terrorism. In October 2014 she and her 1-year-old son boarded a plane to Turkey and then traveled to Syria. After three months Shakil fled, taking a taxi from the IS stronghold of Raqqa to the Turkish border and then returning to Britain. She was arrested at Heathrow Airport in February 2015 and her son has since been taken into social care.
Fine 'British' name. I would rather these people simply were not allowed back into the country; as it is, taxpayers will be paying for her, her child's care, and doubtless her lawyers, too.

So, the 'refugees' are fleeing Aleppo, just as the legitimate government is about to liberate them from ISIS and other headchoppers? Yet they didn't 'flee' when ISIS was in charge?
I see. And so can anyone that isn't a deluded, blind moonbat.
