Ms Sturgeon's sole acheivement has been sparking a Tory revival, which I don't think was really the plan.....

Gosh; Greens aren't contesting any seats in the Highlands & Islands because #GE2017 is "immature behaviour" & has "no relevance" in Scotland
Aye, right. More like they know their SNP allies are heading for bloody noses outside Glasgow and the Central Belt, and don't want to split the vote.
Mind you, it is going to increase 'voter anger' - just not the way they imagine. Greens = Gardening Branch of SNP. Or watermelons.

Oh God, Jezza's just had a Rally, complete with soap star 'celebs' droning on, and triumphal 70's disco music. No, I don't know he said, it just sounded like Blah blah blah, magic money tree, Toaries.
Correction, it wasn't a Rally, it was his Official Launch.

New literacy statistics show less than half S2 pupils (49%) now performing well in writing. Down from 64% in 2012. Shameful.
Reading and writing standards among younger pupils in Scotland has fallen, official figures have revealed. The writing performance of youngsters in the second year of secondary and the final year of Primary fell between 2016 and 2012, according to the latest Scottish Survey for Literacy and Numeracy.
The reading ability of children in Primary 4 and Primary 7 was also down slightly, according to the annual survey.

Re: Mrs May calls snap General Election
I confess, I am a bit lost on the nuances of what is going on elsewhere in the UK, and who is backstabbing who. Though one constant seems to be that Jezza is leading Labour to disaster.
Interestingly, the Labour vote here held up better than many expected, BUT - Scottish leader Kezia Dugdale isn't a Corbinista. Sadly, Kezia would do a marvellous job of running an animal rescue centre, and isn't really cut out for the sheer awfulness of Scottish politics.
If she holds the Scottish party line on Corbyn, though, she may be able to salvage something from the wreckage.
Scottish Greens have blown both their own feet off by acting as Sturgeon's poodles, so I suspect the LibDems may pick up a few votes there, from people who care about environmental issues but don't like the Greens hard Left approach, or their supine grovelling to the SNP.
Oh, and lots of people - me included - detest Patrick Harvie:
and the way he and a handful of other List Green MSPs have been shoring up the SNP minority government and riding roughshod over other opinions.

Women trafficked to Glasgow for sham marriages
Quote:
The suspicious markers include young Eastern European brides, older Asian grooms and the same addresses being used for multiple marriages, yet little sign of them living there.
She also looked at how many got divorced after the five-year-mark, the length of time someone has to have residency before being granted a UK passport.
The programme team found dozens of such marriages in Scotland.
Seventy of them were registered in Glasgow and a third in Govanhill.
And 40% of those who married there just over five years ago - the cut-off for the passport - are now divorced.
Sam Poling in Govanhill, an area of Glasgow where many of the sham marriages occur
One address - Westmorland Street in Govanhill - had more than a dozen links to marriages between men from Pakistan and young Eastern European brides in recent years.
Witnesses of the weddings were also registered there.
Yet there was no trace of any of the couples living at any of the properties.
Jim Laird, one of Scotland's leading experts on human trafficking, said: "There's a high number of victims from the Govanhill area, and that's because there's a clear link between Eastern European crime gangs, who have human trafficking as one of the things they do, and links with organised Asian crime gangs in Glasgow.
"So the Eastern European crime gangs will provide the victims and the Asian crime gangs here will provide the accommodation which is why there is quite a lot of it in Govanhill."
And who, you may ask, is the MSP for Govanhill? Who has had this horrible situation repeatedly shoved under her nose many times over the past few years? And who has done absolutely naff-all about it, showed no sign of concern whatsoever?
Why, 'tis none other than our beloved Nikla, Queen of Scots that has chosen to turn a blind eye to this national scandal.

The car carrying Jeremy Corbyn to Labour’s manifesto signing has run over a BBC cameraman, apparently injuring his leg. Jeremy Corbyn is understood to have been in the car at the time – ITN say he went inside. Twitter posts show the snapper on the ground receiving medical treatment and an ambulance has been called. Convoy of chaos…

That a***hole gets in and I'm abrogating my UK nationality!!!! I remember only too well being attacked by some moronic miner outside a corporate financial institution and spending weeks in pain with a fractured wrist! I know people don't like Thatcher but she did take the unions on head to head! LL

Oh, there's no danger of Jezza getting in, LL, don't worry! Just watch, Mrs May will get back with a big majority, and a few days later, the usual Antifa and rent-a-mob lefties will be rioting in London and shouting about 'kicking the Tories out', like they did after the last election.
Anyone who lived through the 70s - who wasn't a Union fatcat - never, ever wants to go back to that. Can you imagine Generation Selfie putting up with rolling blackouts, reading by candlelight, gathering wood to try to keep their homes warm, the dead lying unburied, and scenes like this:
No thanks! Like it or not, Mrs Thatcher dragged Britain off its knees - we were teetering on the edge of turning into Jezza's other favourite socialist paradise, Venezuela.
My BIG gripe with Mrs T. is that she closed down huge swathes of outdated heavy industry, but put nothing in its place, no plans for jobs and regeneration. That, IMO, was her biggest blunder, and the cause of the lingering resentment.
PS - as far as I am concerned, miners v. police was six of one and half a dozen of the other.

Re: Mrs May calls snap General Election
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/05/11/labour-mps-reject-jeremy-corbyns-manifesto-theresa-may-warns/
Labour MPs have turned their back on Jeremy Corbyn's left-wing manifesto and vowed to oust him after the election in an attempt to save their seats.
Mr Corbyn faced an open revolt after his socialist plan for Britain was leaked to The Telegraph and his own MPs claimed he did not speak for them.
Some Conservative MPs fear the Labour split could undermine their bid to win a landslide in June if voters choose to back their local MP despite Mr Corbyn's leadership.
It comes as Theresa May will today accuse the Labour leader of "deserting proud and patriotic working class people".
The Prime Minister will say that generations of Labour voters have been "abandoned" by Mr Corbyn because he has turned against Labour’s core values.
She will reach out to Labour voters by offering a “positive alternative” to the bleak tax and spending plans of Mr Corbyn that economists have described as “unprecedented”.
Predictions of up to 100 MPs breaking away from Labour after the election - first revealed in the Telegraph this week - began to materialise on Thursday as senior figures publicly rejected the manifesto.
One Labour MP said they and their colleagues are promising Labour voters they will remove Mr Corbyn after the election in a desperate bid to win support on the doorstep.
The Welsh Labour party and one of his most senior backbench MPs launched their own manifestos and dozens of others said the leader’s plans to re-nationalise rail, mail and energy would not feature on their campaign literature.
There was also in-fighting between Mr Corbyn's office and Labour headquarters after one of the leader's former advisers accused party staff of leaking a draft version of the manifesto to The Telegraph in a bid to undermine the leader....etc.
Good luck with getting Jezza out - you'll need it.

So, Jezza is making a speech about foreign policy, which in fairness started fairly well, by his standards. It's now turned into the usual Jezza snooze-fest. Bizarrely, he keeps quoting President Eisenhower - oh, and now we're onto Martin Luther King.

Well worth a read:
https://annaraccoon.blog/2017/05/12/the-nhs-that-you-really-really-want/
The NHS that you really, really, want!
Also, something interesting has been happening as a side effect of the NHS 'ransomwear' business. It appears that 'emergency' admittances to A & E have fallen sharply, which rather suggests the service is being heavily abused...
I am sure the A & E staff will be delighted, for all the chaos, to be free to treat genuine emergencies, instead of ar@eholes that have vomited outside the pub at closing time, decided they had 'food poisoning' and needed an ambulance to A & E, where they then proceed to abuse the staff and demand they be seen before some poor old lady who's broken a hip.
