Former Scottish secretary and Lib Dem MP Alistair Carmichael has confirmed he will stand in June's election.
The member for Orkney and Shetland said he was looking forward to campaigning for his seat at a time of "enormous challenges" in UK politics.
All of Scotland's sitting party MPs have confirmed they will stand again, with the exception of independent MPs Natalie McGarry and Michelle Thomson.

Well, as the voters wisely assume all politicians are liars anyway, being called one by a judge probably won't make that much difference.

And I still don't know what possessed him to get caught up in the bizarre tale of the French consulate........

Sturgeon is now a liability. She spent yesterday shouting about Toaries!!!! but had little else to say.

Which doesn't really matter, as outside the Cult, people rapidly change channels when she appears on their screens.

Sturgeon and the rest of the Cult are failing to grasp that the last thing normal people want is chaos, because they are worried about their jobs, mortgages, children's education, etc.

Nicola Sturgeon has branded opposition claims that she is avoiding talking about independence in the General Election campaign as "ridiculous".

The SNP leader said the June 8 ballot was about electing "strong voices" to fight Scotland's corner at Westminster.

Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson has said Ms Sturgeon risks becoming a "laughing stock" by distancing her campaign from a drive for a second vote on leaving the UK.

The First Minister's spokesman has said it is unlikely Ms Sturgeon would outline her next steps towards another referendum by the spring of 2019 before the general election

Alex Salmond has said that Scots will be voting on the “right of the Scottish Parliament” to hold a second independence referendum when they go to the polls on June 8. The former First Minister also indicated that Nicola Sturgeon has delayed her plans for a second referendum in order to “get another victory” which would re-inforce her mandate to hold a another vote on leaving the UK.

How on EARTH would that drunken clown Juncker know what happened at a dinner? He is alleged to start the day with brandy, so there is no way he would have an accurate memory of anything from the afternoon onward.

A young SNP adviser is set to challenge the Liberal Democrat’s single remaining Scottish MP in the General Election.

Miriam Brett, 25, is aiming to unseat incumbent Alistair Carmichael who maintains a slim majority of 817 in the Orkney and Shetland constituency.

Victory on June 8 would see Ms Brett become one of the youngest MPs at Westminster. She previously worked as a senior economic adviser to the SNP’s Westminster group and played a prominent role in the Yes campaign during the Scottish independence referendum in 2014.

Germany 'interfering in General Election in attempt to undermine Theresa May

Germany has been accused by allies of Theresa May of trying to influence the General Election by undermining the Prime Minister over Brexit talks.

Allies of Mrs May believe Germany, in tandem with the EU, is embarking on a new “project fear” by repeatedly briefing against her.

Senior officials in the German government and in Brussels have openly mocked Mrs May or leaked sensitive information about private meetings in what is being seen as an attempt to undermine the Prime Minister.

Last week Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor, also suggested Britain had “illusions” over what it could hope to achieve from Brexit.

Weakening Mrs May’s mandate with the electorate would tilt the balance in favour of the EU negotiators, and Conservative sources have suggested she is the victim of a co-ordinated plot ahead of next month’s election.

One close ally of Mrs May said: “There is a long-standing tradition that countries do not involve themselves in the elections of other countries, and they seem to be breaking that.”...etc.

No surprise there; the very last thing the eurocrats want is the UK leaving their rich boys' club and being successful.

Also worth noting that the SNP have been beating a path to Brussels and Berlin since the Brexit result. Their predecessors did exactly the same thing in the 30s and 40s - well, until 1945, that is.

PS - maybe history really does repeat itself, as for the second time in several centuries, Scotland's got the emotional, incompetent drama queen, and London's got the cunning, plotting one....

But at least Sturgeon's head should stay on her shoulders, providing she stops running to Brussels and Berlin in the hope of trashing the Brexit negotiations. And doesn't start hiding secret messages in barrels.
