A woman PJ Inspector? Oh my goodness me. This cannot be true. And she won't be into pushing vulnerable peasants down the Police Station stairs, or beating them around the head. Did you ever. I thought it was a prerequisite for the job.
Don't worry, she won't last five minutes, especially if she doesn't indulge in very long lunches.

As for that pile of morons, who do they think they are? They have no right to anything, and would be given short shrift in UK. But obviously they think that Portugal is incapable of handling it's own affairs.

Gosh, what glory. Although I have never been a Feminist. So basically a woman replaced the arseholes. And about bloody time too. The macho arseholes were running rampant and treating The Algarve like their own particular Fiefdom.

Apparently her name is Ana Paula Rite, not Rito.

Seems she had problems with the secrecy law too.


Annulled the trial of Inspector PJ
The trial of Inspector of Judicial Police (PJ) from Faro, charged with violation of the secrecy of Justice for having provided clarifications on the abandonment of a baby, was canceled and must be repeated.

The CM found that all the evidence already produced in the two trial sessions was lost by the process have been stopped more than 30 days. The trial judge entered a low after the last trial session on 14 February, due to the deaths of two family members.

The sentencing came to be scheduled for March 13 but was postponed to an undetermined date. Almost two months after the last session, the court decided to annul the trial and proceed with the repetition. The CM knows that four more lawsuits delivered to Judge Silvia Catela also have to be repeated for the same reasons.

According to judicial sources "all was lost and the trial will start from scratch. They have to be done all the steps again and summoned the witnesses." The same source explained that there can be no substitution of judge because "when a judge starts a process must finish." In all cases there is no accused arrested. Only in one case the judge prevented the re-trial: the case of an accident with the INEM ambulance, where the victim was quadriplegic and whose verdict was read yesterday.

In the case of the inspector, the Attorney General had concluded that Ana Paula Rite should "be acquitted."

ABANDONED BABY CASE

The case of Inspector Ana Paula Rite resulted from an accusation of the Public Ministry (MP) for alleged violation of the secrecy of Justice. It all began with the publication of a statement of the Judicial Police (PJ) on the arrest of the mother of an abandoned baby with months of life. The child was found in a shopping cart in the parking lot of the Forum Algarve in Faro, in April 2004. Clarification was sought on the PJ, after settling the case, and the inspector has made statements to the press, because it is a case for which social alarm. The MP felt that information was disclosed other than as allowed and advanced with a criminal proceeding.

So basically, she told the truth. Goncalo Amaral could never be accused of that.

A PJ Inspector reports the truth and gets charged. Another PJ Inspector leaks lies and nothing is done. Sounds about right in a Patriarchal and Fascist Society.

She sounds like a breath of fresh air to me.

She said whatever it was on the record, not as a sly leak.
