IMO, the correct decision - it was ridiculous to think he would, well, do a runner. Again, IMO, if he had been charged with manslaughter, or the equivalent, he may well have pled guilty.

I don't think for one minute that he intented to kill poor Ms Steenkamp - and I wish the media would stop referring to her as 'his girlfriend'. She had a name, and lost her life in the most tragic of circumstances.

Hopefully, all concerned will now take time to think about the matter PROPERLY. Unlike the homicidal detective who didn't seem to know his ar@e from his elbow, but who wanted a high-profile scalp and to Hell with anything as boring as 'evidence'.

I suspect Pistorius will end up in jail at some point, as he undeniably killed Ms Steenkamp, but at least he won't be railroaded.

As I have said, my own feeling is that it was a ghastly, avoidable accident - but I doubt if he will ever get over killing someone he cared so deeply for.

And maybe he shouldn't - having to live with himself may be a worse punishment than anything a court could do.
