Re: War in Ukraine
http://rt.com/news/179496-lavrov-humanitarian-corridor-agreed/
Moscow and Kiev have agreed on a humanitarian mission under the authority of the Red Cross, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated.
“With careful optimism, I can now say that, I think, all possible and impossible pretexts have been dismissed. I hope that in the very nearest future this humanitarian action will take place under the authority of the Red Cross,” Lavrov said.
“We’ve agreed on all details with the Ukrainian leadership,” the Foreign Minister declared.
He also expressed hope that “Western partners won’t put a spoke in the wheel and will think about the people who are badly in need of water and electricity,” Lavrov said.
Russia will supply the humanitarian aid, he added.

Ukraine crisis: the neo-Nazi brigade fighting pro-Russian separatists
Kiev throws paramilitaries – some openly neo-Nazi - into the front of the battle with rebels

The fighters of the Azov battalion lined up in single file to say farewell to their fallen comrade. His pallid corpse lay under the sun in an open casket trimmed with blue velvet.
Some of the men placed carnations by the body, others roses. Many struck their chests with a closed fist before touching their dead friend’s arm. One fighter had an SS tattoo on his neck.
Sergiy Grek, 22, lost a leg and died from massive blood loss after a radio-controlled anti-tank mine exploded near to him.
As Ukraine’s armed forces tighten the noose around pro-Russian separatists in the east of the country, the western-backed government in Kiev is throwing militia groups – some openly neo-Nazi - into the front of the battle.
The Azov battalion has the most chilling reputation of all. Last week, it came to the fore as it mounted a bold attack on the rebel redoubt of Donetsk, striking deep into the suburbs of a city under siege.

I know, Lily. It would be really nice if, just for once, the West decided NOT to support neo-nazis or liver-eaters, and especially NOT arm them - on our taxes.

From RT:
Russian aid convoy resumes journey to Ukraine
The convoy of humanitarian aid for eastern Ukraine has left Voronezh, where it stayed overnight, and is moving towards Belgorod, RIA Novosti reported. Uncertainty remains as to how much time it will take for Ukraine to vet the 2,000 tons of cargo and let it in, once the trucks arrive at the Russian-Ukrainian border.
It beggars belief that anyone is dumb enough to think there's anything except humanitarian aid on that convoy - are there really people stupid enough to think Putin would hand Kiev a publicity coup like that? With the entire world watching?

Amazing! I've just watched some imbecile bureaucrat from Brussels revealing that it never occurred to them that Russia would retaliate when the EU slapped on sanctions....

Are they that used to people (e.g., the people of the EU) following their orders without any consequences?

Yes, I think they are, Lily. Far from being the trading bloc people (me, for instance) voted for years ago, the EU has turned into a many-tentacled, smothering, intrusive, bureaucratic superstate. Most people who attempt to argue with anything the EU does, end up giving up; they simply were not prepared for anyone saying, OK, keep your apples, there are other countries in the world that are happy to trade with us.
This latest mess is liable to kill off the few signs of recovery many nations in the eurozone were beginning to feel.

Ukraine Guards Begin To Inspect Russian Aid
Border guards begin to inspect a large convoy of Russian lorries purporting to carry humanitarian aid supplies to Ukraine.
Ukraine has spoken of its concerns that the convoy of about 260 vehicles will be used as a 'Trojan horse', allowing Russia to establish a permanent presence in the east.
In an effort to ease tensions, Russian emergency services officials allowed journalists covering the convoy to see the contents of trucks of their choosing.
Among the supplies the journalists saw were bottles of water, sacks of buckwheat and portable generators.
Last night there were reports a smaller group of Russian vehicles, including armoured cars, had already crossed the border.
More at link.
There are always reports that 'Russian vehicles have crossed the border', generally from that idiot Rasmussen that apparently runs NATO. His response to everything is to shriek, The sky is falling!!!!! The Russkis are coming!!!!!!
Let's hope the Kiev troops don't loot the aid trucks before the civilians they've been bombing get a sniff of a can of stew.

Re: War in Ukraine
http://rt.com/news/180512-ukrainian-mp-firewood-coal/
The decision by the Ukrainian parliament to allow companies from the US and EU to co-manage the country’s gas pipelines could lead to the country being left with no gas supplies in the coming winter, an MP has warned in an emotional online address.
Nikolay Rudkovsky, an independent MP in Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada, believes the law allowing 49 percent of Ukraine’s national gas transportation system (GTS) to be managed by foreign companies is a big mistake.
“People, my advice to you is: buy firewood and coal! After the Law on reforming the management system of the united gas transportation system of Ukraine (#4116) was passed today, our country has been left with almost no chances of staying with gas,” Rudkovsky said on Facebook, following the Rada session.
“Don’t the MPs understand that we are now guaranteed to have a winter with no heating?” he asked.
More at link.
Priorities, dear boy! Freezing Ukrainians are of no importance besides people like Vice President Biden's son, Hunter!
The Biden family fortune needs all those billions he was planning to wring out of Ukrainian energy. And it's soooo thoughtless of those nasty people in East Ukraine to delay his plans to frack Hell out of their land!
The little people don't count - only the oligarchs do!
Hunter, Daddy Biden, and Ukrainian oil.

Re: War in Ukraine
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-08-15/ukraine-president-issues-statement-elimination-russian-convoy-ukraine-artillery
President of Ukraine and Prime Minister of Great Britain discussed international efforts on the settlement of the conflict in the Donbas
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a phone conversation with Prime Minister of Great Britain David Cameron.
The parties coordinated their actions on the response to the information regarding the entry of Russian military machines to the territory of Ukraine that has been clearly witnessed by international journalists, particularly of "Guardian" newspaper. The President informed that the given information was trustworthy and confirmed because the majority of that machines had been eliminated by the Ukrainian artillery at night.
Yes, of course they were.
That's why there are photos of this epic battle between Our Gallant Allies and The Russkis all over the internet....oh wait, there aren't any.
Just more sh*te from the Chocolate King....and as for using the Guardian as an excuse for yet more warmongering.
Does anyone seriously believe this rubbish any more - except for UK tabloids, of course?
Oh, and naturally Generalissimo Rasmussen, head of NATO from that nation renowned for its martial skills.
Denmark.
He's running round shouting, The sky is falling! again.

Re: War in Ukraine
Worth noting that Rasmussen has 'previous' for bare-faced lying:
http://www.grevilsupport.dk/uk_version.html
The day before the invasion of Iraq, Prime Minister Rasmussen told the Danish Parliament, "Iraq has weapons of mass destruction. This is not something we just believe. We know." Grevil was stunned. To convince Parliament to vote to go to war, Rasmussen completely ignored the intelligence reports.
And I still have NO idea what on earth qualifies him to be head of NATO, unless it's his eagerness to lie on behalf of his masters.

Re: War in Ukraine
Note not even their masters in the US are wiling to back up the latest p*sh from Kiev:
http://news.sky.com/story/1319564/russia-assures-us-over-humanitarian-convoy
The US later said it was not able to confirm whether Kiev's forces had attacked the convoy, but said Russia had no right to send vehicles into Ukraine.
But the US can bomb, invade and regime-change any nation on earth it targets, despite said nations being thousands of miles from Washington? It can install the US VP's son as head of foreign nations' energy, having staged coups?
Stinking hypocrisy.
And serious questions need to be asked of the Guardian and Telegraph reporters that claimed to have seen this phantom column of APCs - they must be the unluckiest reporters on earth, that NEITHER of them seem to have cell-phones on them when they saw this historic and important event. Because right now it looks like they were BOTH spreading a pack of lies to suit Kiev.

Quote:
More to the point, the onus is on Ukraine to present some evidence, in fact any evidence, of a destroyed Russian military convoy instead of merely building upon a story conceived by the two UK media outlets, because if Ukraine indeed has no evidence, then its story falls apart and what's worse, the credibility and reputation of its government, of NATO and certainly of the UK press would be in tatters.
Well, the UK press hasn't far to fall.....and Kiev, the US and NATO have lied, and lied again from the start of all this.

The only thing that appears to have been 'destroyed' is the latest Ukraine attack on the east, in the course of which a number of the conscripts have fled over the border to Russia.

Ukraine officially recognizes Russian aid convoy as humanitarian

Ukraine Minister of Social Policy Lyudmila Denisova has signed an order officially recognizing the Russian convoy stuck at the border as humanitarian aid cargo of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
"In accordance with Articles 4 and 5 of the Law of Ukraine 'On Humanitarian Aid' considering the initiative of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on receiving humanitarian aid within the framework of international humanitarian missions under the auspices of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to recognize the cargo as humanitarian aid,” the document reads.
Russian and Ukrainian officials have agreed on Sunday to proceed with the inspection of the first group of 16 Russian trucks of the humanitarian convoy, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said.
The ICRC will be supervising the delivery of the aid and will go ahead after it receives security guarantees from the warring sides in Ukraine.

Incidentally, where are all the screams of outrage from the west about nearly 100 civilians being killed, and others horribly maimed, by Kiev bombs this week?
Why no outrage about Kiev using white phospherous against civilian targets?

On the howls of pain coming from Europe as it sinks in that sanctions can work both ways. I actually do not know why US/EU/NATO expected Russia to put up with this nonsense and not retaliate.
One can only assume that the goons in Washington have got so used to regime-changing Middle Eastern nations and reducing them to ruin and chaos, they thought they could do it on Russia's doorstep without any consequences for themselves.
