I think the slogan 'Stop the world, I want to get off' sounds appealing now...

They're just....awful, the whole damned lot of them. US, UK, EU, each and every one of them is a waste of oxygen.

Too true, Bonny. The people deserve a clean slate with people who have honesty and good moral values leading them.

Something happens to them when they walk through the portals of where ever. Perhaps they get beamed up or something.

Union flag to be plastered across bridges and roads to highlight public spending... to the annoyance of Scottish nationalists
Provocative Treasury move to put Union Flag on all state-funded projects
Roads, flood defences and broadband hubs will all be branded with logo
Plan drawn up to hammer home the benefits of infrastructure spending
Logo is also similar to one used on foreign aid funded by Britain

Let me guess - a Tory dreamed that one up to make the peasants feel grateful. That bit of patronising carp should get the SNP a few more votes.

Re: By-elections in England
Rather puts the cost of the McCann investigation in the shade, doesn't it? And if it's being admitted that it's a quarter of a million, you can be sure it's far more than that in reality.

It's three quarters of a million, Bonny? There's plenty left to go around. isn't there? I mean, vulnerable people don't need any help, for instance?

Apologies, Lily, yes, so it is! That's every single day - and politicians wonder why people are fed up?

That's okay Bonny. You were probably very angry at the time you wrote it.
Yes, every single day. What a wonderful way to spend taxpayers' money. I am sure they are thrilled.

I am sure we can all think of better things to do with that money than giving it to people that detest us, and everything about us.

I just don't believe they didn't know, rumours had been circulating for years - and that was long before the internet.

Re: By-elections in England
It's two months till the General Election, so I won't bore anyone - yet - with the ins and outs of the feuding. But, long story short, the Labour party in Scotland is set fair to be wiped out, with the SNP winning just about every seat.
Which is causing panic in England, as it is looking like being another hung parliament (and yes, many of them should be )
Anyways, the Scottish Labour party is tearing itself apart, not knowing which seat to try to save. Which has led someone to say this of one of their current MPs:
A party insider said: "Margaret is getting a terrible reception on the doorstep, and the more hostility she gets, the more resources she wants for a seat nobody thinks we are going to hold."
Another Scottish Labour source said: "Margaret has always been out for herself and Jim needs to have a word with her. It will be a blow to Labour if we lose our Scottish Secretary but we can take comfort in the knowledge that the IQ of the Westminster group will rise when Margaret goes."

Re: By-elections in England
We're seeing backstabbing and plotting on a truly epic scale from Labour and the Tories, Lily. They're so desperate, one Tory grandee actually announced that the only possible solution was a Grand Coalition of....Labour and Tories, to keep assorted SNP, UKIP, Greens, etc., well away from the corridors of power.

Yes, Bonny. There is nothing worse for them than to dilute power. They don't want to share that gravy train with others.

Seems perfectly reasonable to me. Don't know what they're all getting their panties in a bunch about.
It doesn't seem to have occurred to the panickers south of the border is that the reason the SNP are so popular in Scotland is that they've done a pretty good job of running the country on a very limited budget. Which they have stayed within.
I do realise, however, that the concept of balancing books has long since been forgotten in Westminster....
