Donald Trump leads a new Public Policy Polling survey of Republican primary voters in North Carolina.

PPP's previous polls picked former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush as the frontrunner, but he has since taken a back seat to "The Donald."

Trump leads the poll with the support of 16 percent of those surveyed, followed by former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker at 12 percent apiece.

"Trump's favorability rating in North Carolina is 55/32, much higher than we were finding in national polls prior to his entry into the race," the PPP's release said. "Trump's really caught fire with voters on the far Right."

I was watching some talking heads this morning and some candidates have changed their stance about illegal immigration following that murder in San Fran.  

Quite shameful what some have said about it now as they said completely different earlier.  GW Bush did nothing much about the problem when he was Pres.  A Mexican guy who used to help me with my garden, he was in the country legally, told me about how bad many of them were who came to the US.  He told me that they were criminals of the worst order and he didn't want them in the US!   

Hillary has 'reset' her comments for instance.

It's interesting to follow this from a safe distance, Lily. I find it especially fascinating to see the Republican establishment in such a flap about Trump.

They have little control over him, which may be a factor?

Somewhere, I saw it described as Trump is Main Street and they are Wall Street - he isn't in their club.

Trump has his own money and doesn't need to be funded.  They do.  He is therefore not for sale so says what he wants to say because he is not beholden to any special interest groups.  

That is enough to exclude him from anything.  So they are doing their best to exclude him?

Hillary is described as Hitlery in a comment.

It's beyond me why anyone would consider that ghastly woman for any position other than scrubbing out her jail cell, frankly, Lily. What does she have to do to get charged with....something?

House Republicans investigating the 2012 attacks in Benghazi, Libya, on Wednesday released a March subpoena issued to Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton, one day after she said in a nationally televised interview that she "never had a subpoena" in the email controversy.

Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., chairman of the Benghazi panel, said he had "no choice" but to make the subpoena public "in order to correct the inaccuracy" of Clinton's claim.

Clinton told CNN on Monday that she "never had a subpoena," adding: "Everything I did was permitted by law and regulation."

Gowdy said the committee issued the March 4 subpoena to Clinton personally after learning the full extent of her use of private emails while serving as secretary of state.

She is showing herself to be the pathological liar that she is.  

I like Trey Gowdy simply because he is very intelligent and truthful.

Interesting. He certainly can't be all bad if he's managing to upset the talking heads, establishment lackeys and elitists.

He's shocked so many people on both sides because they thought they knew better.  After all, they are politicians aren't they?

They all need a wake up call.....

It's fascinating to watch from a distance, Lily. My knowledge of The Donald is rather confined to rows about golf courses and rows about windfarms, and his private jet flying over my head...

But anyone that gets up McCain's nose can't possibly be all bad.

I suspect they've got another problem with Trump - his private life has been all over the scandal sheets for years, so it is hard to see what they can use to smear him.

Also, he doesn't seem to be one of the Bilderberg cabal?

I don't like him as a person per se, Bonny, but he is being something the others are not.  He is honest with common sense piled on top.  He's not warm and fuzzy but the country does not need that.  There are massive serious problems that need fixing and the others are beholden to the money people who don't want them fixed.  Or so it seems.

No, I don't believe he is not a Bilderberg member.   He doesn't need them.

You bet it does, Bonny.   If that had not happened (and for the victim's sake I wish it had not) they were after him and calling him every name under the sun.

And they should be reported, Lily. Established politicians of whichever party sticking their fingers in their ears isn't going to make the problem go away.

Indeed, I would say that every time one of them pretends it isn't happening, it's another few votes for Trump?

I do believe that had Trump not said what he did followed by that poor girl's murder, nothing would have been said about the two drunk drivers that were mentioned in that link.

This has been going on for years.  Numerous people have been seriously injured or killed by drunk illegals with no insurance and nothing has happened.  This is way overdue.

The people now denouncing what is happening are quite hypocritical if you ask me.

I find this whole business of 'sanctuary cities' somewhere beyond madness, Lily.

They are, Bonny.  Such are the rose colored glasses that some of our State politicians wear.

It is, IMO, rather like the Mariel boatlift on a huge scale, but this time, the US government and officials are actually encouraging God knows who or what to enter the US.

In a break from the immigration rhetoric that has garnered him condemnation and praise, Trump asserted that he would have more positive results in dealing with China and Russia if he were president and said he could be pals with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Asked by an audience member in Las Vegas about U.S.-Russia relations, Trump said the problem is that Putin doesn't respect Obama.

"I think we would get along very, very well," he said.

Does anyone respect Obama?
