US President Barack Obama says investigators have still not ruled out terrorism a day after a mass shooting in southern California.

Speaking from the Oval Office, Mr Obama said they don't know what motivated the "terrible event" in San Bernardino that left 14 people dead and 17 injured.

"It's possible this was terror-related, but we don't know," he told reporters. "It's also possible this was workplace related."

He said they would establish the facts before reaching a judgement on what sparked the gun assault by a husband and wife.

Mr Obama said that although many Americans feel powerless to stop such violence, there's a part for everyone to play, including lawmakers.

He's wound his neck in a bit since the killers turned out to be his co-religionists.

I should think Geraldo and a good few others are wishing they had STFU until more was known about these killers. If they had been watching twitter, they would have known what was likely coming - I posted this before 10pm last night, UK time.

That was rather a clue that the killers weren't going to be Episcopalians....

I could not help but note that the whole operation had been thought through even to the point of that fake device left in the building to enable the a-holes time to get away.

From today's reports that these two were merrily making bombs at home, I wonder if they had something even worse planned, and he lost his rag over an Evil Christmas party, or something? So shot up people who thought he was harmless instead of waiting?

Obama appears to be the only Western leader that can't say ISLAMIC TERRORISM. Everyone else can, but not him. It's become too obvious to be ignored now.

Oh diddums, did someone insult the poor ickle wickle snackbar? It should be astounding that lawyers are trying to paint the murdering scumbag as the victim, but sadly, it isn't.

As he and his homicidal, security-cleared snackbar-ess had been making bombs and stockpiling ammo BEFORE they massacred these poor people, it would seem to be obvious that he lost the plot and acted early because someone laughed at his beard, or something.

The only small shred of comfort for the families of the victims is that him losing his temper and killing their loved ones, prevented him and his snackbar-ess doing something ten times worse.

Mr Thalasinos – worked alongside Farook as a county restaurant inspector and the pair are said to have regularly discussed politics and religion.
Colleague Kuuleme Stephen said she had called Thalasinos while he was at work when he was having a heated discussion with Farook.
Mr Thalasinos had identified Farook by name and told her the 28-year-old believed Islam was a peaceful religion. She added that Farook said that Americans do not understand Islam.
Mr Thalasinos was known to be passionate about pro-Israel causes and regularly ranted about Islam on Facebook.
On September 11th, 2013, alongside a photo of a shirtless victim plummeting to his death from the burning World Trade Center, Mr Thalasinos posted: 'On behalf of this guy… You can stick your Million Muslim March up your asses'.

The home, opened to reporters by the landlord, showed signs of a thorough going-over by local and federal investigators. A well-nourished houseplant sat on a marble table amid opened mail, a rug with Arabic inscriptions hung from a wall and a baby walker sat parked in a corner as reporters filed past. A treadmill, suitcases, books and even identity cards for the former occupants lay strewn across a bed.

WTF? Why wasn't it taped off? Where were the police? They've just made everything within that apartment valueless as evidence.

I guess they already have the evidence they needed before letting them in?  Otherwise, did they bring Gonzo on the case..........

Or it's been done deliberately to muddy the waters, on orders from the White House? There are documents and all sorts still lying around.

CNN is reporting that the landlord of the apartment rented to the San Bernardino terrorists was escorted away by police this morning.

The FBI is now officially investigating the San Bernardino attacks as an act of terrorism.

Really? I would have thought most Americans were far more concerned about being blown to bits by some deranged snackbar, than offending the followers of a 7th century cult that believes in magical flying horses.
