At New Year’s Eve celebrations in Dortmund a mob of more than 1,000 men chanted ‘Allahu Akhbar’, launched fireworks at police, and set fire to a historic church.
Already by 7 pm a man was hospitalised with first-degree burns to his face and hands after fireworks were hurled at a group of homeless people outside the city’s main train station. More than two dozen people were injured at festivities in Dortmund, some seriously.

The events of the night were described as “quiet” by police in a statement, and as “normal” by a spokesman for the city government.

But at 11:30pm police announced they were adding to their already much larger than usual presence in the city centre for New Year, sending in further reinforcements of officers.

This came after the force reported there being a “large number of young men from North Africa” in town, with federal police officer Volker Stall noting there was an “aggressive mood” towards the public and police.

At midnight, the situation threatened to escalate. A livewire published by the Ruhr Nachrichten reported that a crowd of “at least 1,000 young men” began throwing fireworks into crowds of visitors, which also included families with children. Asked by officers to stop, the mob turned to pelt fireworks at police instead.

Despite the prohibition of lighting pyrotechnics near churches, firemen had to intervene after fireworks were launched at St Reinolds, Germany’s oldest church, setting the roof alight.

BREAKING: Armed raid on refugee centre as cops discover migrants 'helped Berlin attacker'

A CRACK team of the armed German elite have stormed a refugee centre in the country’s capital and arrested a man suspected of helping Christmas market killer Anis Amri.

The 26-year-old Tunisian was detained at the scene after eight German commandos stormed the home in the Spandau district on Tuesday night.

A unit from the SAS trained GSG9 and the SEK anti-terrorist police raided the centre just before 9pm.

Prosecutors claim he “knew of the attack plans and possibly helped Anis Amri.”

The man, suspected to have been in contact with Amri "shortly before the attack", is said to have known the killer since 2015.

Another man was arrested in a separate raid at an apartment elsewhere in the city.

Said to be Amri’s former roommate, it is alleged he too knew of the deadly plans and may have assisted the killer in the days and even hours leading up to the attack.

Boxes of documents were carted away from the refugee centre after the operation.

German intelligence and security forces have been ramping up their efforts to close in on the terror cell which supported Amri, and to prevent further bloodshed.

Four people including a 16-year-old girl have been arrested on suspicion of planning a suicide attack in Paris.

According to French media, the four were arrested in Montpellier in the south of the country.

They were allegedly planning to detonate an explosive belt in a tourist area of ​​the capital.

Explosives and computer equipment were discovered at the suspects' homes, according to a French prosecutor.

France has been targeted in a number of terror attacks, leading to a state of emergency being declared until after the Presidential elections in July.

Three co-ordinated teams were said to behind a series of shootings and bombings in Paris which killed 130 people and critically injured another 100 in November 2015.

A rock concert, football match and street cafes were hit.

And in July 2016 a 19-tonne truck was driven through a Nice tourist area, killing 86 people.

Radical Islamists were blamed for the attacks.

Iraqi migrant 'raped 13-year-old girl at train station then fled Germany to Hungary'

AN Iraqi migrant has been arrested on suspicion of raping a 13-year-old girl at a German railway station.

The unnamed migrant, 37, allegedly violently attacked the girl in Hamburg on November 2016, but fled the country before being detained in Hungary.

Hungarian authorities identified the man, who had used a string of different names and dates of birth, by his fingerprints after he tried to gain access to a holding camp in southern Hungary.

When authorities took his fingerprints they realised a European Arrest Warrant had been issued under one of his aliases.

If the Iraqi man is found guilty of raping the 13-year-old girl it would contribute towards the growing clamour of German citizens who are angry at Angela Merkel for implementing the infamous open door policy towards refugees and asylum seekers.

Aside from the sex attacks carried out in Cologne on the New Year’s Eve before last, a host of migrant-related sex attacks have been reported to German police....etc

Germany and Sweden really have screwed up bigtime, and denying there is a problem is making that problem ten times worse.

Brussels isn't so much about present-day migrants, but they sat and did nothing for years while no-go zones grew, little more than yards from the heart of the EU - and NATO.

Düsseldorf axe attack suspect identified as 'man with mental problems'.

An axe-wielding attacker suffering from mental health problems injured seven people at the main train station in the German city of Düsseldorf late on Thursday, police told AFP.

Previously police had said several attackers were involved and two were arrested, but they later said one suspect was behind the assault, a 36-year-old man from the former Yugoslavia living in Wuppertal. Thus far police have said there was no evidence of terrorism.

"An assailant probably armed with an axe attacked people at random" at about 8.50pm, city police said in a statement.

The axe attack began on an S-Bahn train line as the man reportedly randomly went after other passengers. It continued when the attacker got to the train station and there injured other passersby. More at link.

Germany shuts down shopping mall over attack threat.



German police ordered a shopping centre in the central city of Essen shut on Saturday, citing the threat of an attack, less than a year after a deadly shooting spree in another mall in Munich.

"The shopping centre will be closed all Saturday due to security concerns. The police has concrete information regarding a possible attack," local police said in a statement published on social media.

The alert only referred to the Limbecker Platz in downtown Essen, the police said, adding that parking garages and the nearest underground rail station had also been closed.

They did not describe the nature of the threat, but said an investigation was under way.

Germany is on high alert following the Christmas market carnage in Berlin last December, in which an Islamic State jihadist rammed a truck into a crowd of pedestrians, killing 12 people.
