This latest boat is adrift in the oceanic area that the Samalia pirates operate in. They say that the pirates do not board cruise ships. I hope they are right.

i believe that the boats have good means of deterring them from boarding, Sadie. There are sophisticated water cannon which prevent anyone climbing up the sides and defences using terrible and painful noises. I saw it on TV.

Shame that.

Somali pirates are active in the region but have not been sighted near the 28,597-tonne ship, which has a group of armed marines on board.
There are 636 passengers on the Costa Allegra, 31 Britons and one Irish person, along with 413 crew members.
They include a dancer from Sutton Coldfield, Rebecca Thomas, whose brother James was working on the Costa Concordia when it ran aground in January.

'Twist Of Fate': Costa Cruise Mum's Anguish


I think that is the young lad I have seen interviewed on TV; I am not surprised he is still shaken - he was in a group which swam to shore, if it's the same young man.

He really had thought he was going to die when the Concordia started toppling over, he was clearly upset.

What are the odds of that happening?

The mum seems really calm. Wow.....
