I think you'll find that Portugal is the same time as UK. Not that it matters as the peasants lining the route from the airport won't mind standing in the cold, sharpening their hachettes.

Seriously, it is vastly entertaining watching the forkers work themselves into a frenzy about this - they still haven't realised that she has about as much clout in Portugal as FoxyBlondie did.

I have never been to Portugal, but surely at this time of the year most places are closed? I am thinking of establishments such as Ocean Club, Tapas Bars etc. I may be wrong here, but this is a seaside town, where people go for summer holidays, the only people around in the winter are the locals. So is she intending to 'inspect' the scene of the crime and, if so, will it even be open? LL

And of course, none of the Summer Staff will be available for questioning. None of the cleaners or waiters or gardeners or reception staff. Unless Ms. Brown intends to track them down and harass them.

i have some retired friends who spend three months (Dec., Jan., Feb.) each year in the Algarve. They tell me it is very quiet but there are bars and restaurants open throughout the period. There is also a big full time ex-pat community which is boosted by those who visit just for the winter months.

And I have just checked and you can make a booking for the Ocean Club this month. The only difference in facilities listed for Nov-Mar is that the reception isn't 24hr during that period.

Perhaps brown´s arrival in Portugal has the purpose of finding new breweries for gonçalo amaral:

about brown´s inspecting the scene of the crime: I doubt that it will be allowed, because she is no police force, she has no authority. She will not find anything inside 5A, because I´ll bet that the apartment is cleaned.
