Perhaps they have never been helped, Lily. Or never known how to ask. I've know a couple of people like that who thought I was trying to rip them off when ever I tried to help. But there really isn't anything you can do if this is how they feel.

I have sadly developed a life threatening allergy to Tree Nuts, Lily. But not to Peanuts. On the last occasion I ate a handful of Walnuts, I nearly died, and certainly hoped I would at one point. It was Cristovao who published that rumour, in his book. There is no record of anyone associated with The McCanns, or The McCanns themselves, ever stating such a thing. And if this odour was so easily transmitted, and hung around for four months, then why was nothing other than two items of clothing contaminated? It just doesn't make any forensic sense. And it would never have washed in a Court of Law.
So, Cristovao made a few bob from his book. But look at the state he is in now. Yet another Portuguese, Ex PJ. Arguido. Who is about to lose his Pension. And will probably finish up in Gaol.
