Because the case would have been thrown out before it left the DA's desk.

If they and Leandro Silva (who did NOT make a false confession and is therefore a free man) had been tortured in a US police station, they would have won mega-bucks compensation.

Now, the brother might well have fetched up in jail anyway, due to his alleged involvement in drugs, but Leandro and Leonor would now be on the talk show circuit.

Because there is that small problem of there being no actual evidence against them - photos of saws and wearing red trousers does not normally count as 'evidence' in 21st century western democracies.

The Gonc cult seem to be unaware that all the penny-dreadful fantasies invented by Gonc and Cristovao were thrown out of court.

They seem to be unaware that the blood supposedly found was never even tested to see if it was human.

They seem to be unaware that there were other people in the house when all this incest and dismemberment was supposedly going on - or rather, the incest and dismemberment invented by Gonc and Cristovao, as that was thrown out of court.

They also seem to be totally ignorant of the fact that the appeal court judges were tied 2-2, and that a fifth judge had to tie break.

That Leonor Cipriano was tortured in police custody is now a matter of law, confirmed by two courts.

This scandal is every bit as bad as the Dreyfuss case, all those years ago. It's just as bad as all the miscarriages of justice in the UK.

At the very least, it MUST be retried - this time, with proper evidence, and not just 'hypotheses' involving fridges and red trousers.

I love a Conspiracy Theory as much as the next man, but I have never come across one where The Whole World was INNIT, apart from a handful of lunatics. If their Conspiracy Theory was true, they would all be dead by now. Nobody outside of Authority knows who they are, so they wouldn't even be missed.

Well yes, it's always just pointless conspiraloon rambling, isn't it? They're only preaching to the converted, which is about 130-140 hard-core haters. The real world (like us) goes when they persist in saying the same things in 2012 as they said in 2007.
