Singer Amy Winehouse has been found dead at her home in Camden, north London, at the age of 27, police have confirmed.

The London Ambulance Service was called to her flat just after 4pm but were unable to save her life.
"On arrival, officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene," a police statement said.
Her death is being treated as unexplained and inquiries are continuing into the circumstances, it added.
The Back To Black artist had cancelled all tour dates and engagements last month
after a series of erratic public appearances.
She had been troubled by drink and drugs problems throughout her career

Poor lady; such a shame the demons took her at such an early age.

Thanks for that bonny, I have never heard her sing, jsut vaguely seen her mentioned in paper reports, usually she was in trouble with the police as I remember. LL

She had a fabulous voice.

She did indeed have a fabulous voice. I am gutted.

She had a fantastic talent, LL, but her life was blighted by drug and alcohol issues.



I also suspect she was exploited by people who did not actually want her to free herself.

Yes, she had tremendous talent but her life was a mess. Did she recently get together with her husband again, Bonny?

I think there was some kind of reconciliation, but her life had become increasingly chaotic, Lily. From where I am sitting, she was murdered by the scum who had been selling her poison for so long, like so many before her.

Her poor parents tried so hard to sort her out and support her. This is awful. No more wonderful songs.

Her husband was not a good influence on her at all. He had such severe drug problems. Her parents must have been besides themselves about that relationship.

Oh, no doubt he is already C & P-ing away on some vile potboiler, Lily. Fortunately, in the great scheme of things, he doesn't matter greatly.

Her parents believed that her husband first gave her drugs, and it does look a bit that they. But she didn't seem able to get away from him.

Thanks for posting that song,bonny but I'm afaid I could only listen to a tiny bit of it. I found her voice grating - sorry, not my style. A shame she's dead but it does seem that fame often goes with the drugs and sex syndrome. LL

Amy's voice, when she hit top form, sent shivers down your spine, LL; I will be honest, I could not bear to listen to some of her material, as she was so obviously ill, and performing when she should have been in hospital.
IMO, those around her were not looking after her best interests, as long as the money kept coming in.

Her voice grew on me. I was listening to one of her songs a couple of days ago. Really listening, and it was wonderful.

I feel she was very much in the same vein as Billie Holliday, Sabot. When Amy was in top form, she was electrifying.

I have never been a great fan of the blues, Bonny, but she was something else, although I did like Billy Holliday.

Proper blues has always been one of my first loves, Sabot - not some whiny, spotty youth moaning about being miserable, but real blues - like the old timers singing St James Infirmary, for example...makes my hair stand on end!
