Re: Jimmy Savile accused in ITV documentary
BBC News Scotland:
28 October 2012 Last updated at 17:36
Savile's Glencoe home vandalised
Savile bought the cottage in Glencoe in the Highlands in 1998
Abusive slogans have been spray-painted on a house in the Scottish Highlands which belonged to disgraced TV presenter Jimmy Savile.
It is thought Savile, who died last year aged 84, may have abused hundreds of young girls and some boys over a 40-year period.
Police said the house at Allt Na Reigh in Glencoe was vandalised overnight but witnesses say it was during the day.
"Jimmy the beast" was written on the wall and the door was badly damaged.
BBC Scotland reporter Andreas Wolff said he had been told that witnesses saw three men in their 20s throwing stones at the house and spray-painting the walls at about lunchtime on Sunday. He said a black car was seen in front of the house with the doors wide open. Police in Fort William are investigating.
Savile bought the Glencoe cottage in 1998 and was described as an "adopted local" by community leaders after his death.
The cottage was to be sold earlier this year but the sale was halted by Savile's charitable trust, who announced plans to convert it into a respite centre for the disabled. That plan has now been shelved after the charity announced it is to close down.

Police Poised For More Savile Case Arrests
By Darren McCaffrey, Sky News Reporter | Sky News – 1 hour 28 minutes ago
Police investigating Jimmy Savile are preparing to make fresh arrests as today marks the anniversary of his death.
Yesterday, former pop star Gary Glitter became the first high-profile arrest under Scotland Yard's Operation Yewtree.
He may be one of many. Police have drawn up a detailed arrest strategy as 30 officers work through some 300 allegations of abuse.
Today marks one year since Savile's death. At the time he was saluted for his charity work and long TV career.
Now the depictions of Savile couldn't be more different, described as a predatory paedophile and one of Britain's most prolific sex offenders.
For many of Savile's victims, including his own great niece, too many turned a blind eye for too long.
Caroline Robinson told Sky News: "The rewards they got from Jimmy Savile's name and everything else kept them in a lifestyle that they became accustomed to.
"I am sure the BBC, if they could have stopped this in the 60s when they first found out about the allegations, I would not be a victim now.
"I would not be sat here. They have wrecked my world apart. They are to blame.
"I think a vast amount of people knew at the BBC, at the NHS and the council.
"I think everybody knew who surrounded themselves with Jimmy Savile."
Today former Court of Appeal judge Dame Janet Smith begins the first of two independent inquiries.
It will focus on whether the culture and practices at the BBC allowed Savile to carry out his abuse.
A further review will examine current sexual harassment policies at the corporation.

Who knows? But what jars with me is using as dead man, even one who might be guilty, allegedly, to start a witch-hunt, which is what it seems to be turning out to be. Also, it would please Murdock no end to bring the BBC crashing down; it loses the licence fee and he buys up, very cheaply, what remains, then fills up the airwaves with more bl**dy non-stop adverts. If the BBC were to go down because of this then I want someone to make sure that slimeball doesn't his hands on it. LLSabot wrote:

According to some highly disturbed person posting on Anna Raccoon, she was thrown naked into what appears to have been a padded cell, despite there being no evidence of such a room, according to others who were there at the time.
And Miss Jones headed up a Paedo Ring. Something to do with Wales and a Patriarchal Society.
Personally, I can see her Compo going down the pan, and she is not happy about this.
But she is getting short shrift.

I think someone should investigate the Mail. They appear to have been trawling the internet looking for 'abuse victims' BEFORE this blew up.

It was also reported yesterday that Newsnight editor Peter Rippon, who has been moved aside pending an inquiry, is considering suing the BBC for defamation. He was heavily criticised for calling a halt to the Newsnight Savile investigation, which he was reported to have told friends had been “horribly botched”.
Oh my, that will set the cat amongst the pigeons!
Anyone following this away from the screeching, lurid tabloid headlines will know already that his initial decision was almost certainly the correct one.
And ITV should have done a bit of fact-checking before it aired that show.

More cat/pigeon-setting:
Meanwhile, her niece Louise Perry wrote on Facebook: ‘No one in the family has a clue what you are on about. For you to paint such an awful picture of the family is beyond my belief.’
And Jane Perry, married to Mrs Robinson’s other brother Philip, said: ‘What a load of b*******’.

I wonder if she is actually aggrieved because she was left out of the will?
I have to say, some of the 'victims' are starting to sound about as credible as Tango's stalkerwalk.

And in the best attention-seeker tradition, she has reported her irate family to the police, and got herself photographed outside a copshop:

I have no idea what is going on, or who is lying and who isn't. I wish the tabloids would stop stirring the pot and SHUT UP AND LEAVE THE INVESTIGATING TO THE POLICE.
By the time the lawyers have finished, there is going to be no money left, anyway - not for the family, not for the 'victims', not for the charities, the NHS - no-one.
The lawers will be laughing all the way to the bank, though.

Re: Jimmy Savile accused in ITV documentary
I will be surprised if the police do very much 'accusing' of anyone, Sabot, once they actually get peace to look into all this.
Gadd may well get charged with something or other to keep the baying mob happy, but he's horrible anyway.
If the 'victims' sue in civil court, then the BBC, etc., will employ horribly expensive lawyers to defend themselves. And on and on it will go, while the lawyers get richer and the truth ever more distant.

Re: Jimmy Savile accused in ITV documentary
Incidentally, I only found out today that the Mail group owns a large chunk of ITN:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daily_Mail_and_General_Trust
DMG Broadcasting owns a number of media companies and is the subsidiary of DMGT that controls its British radio, television, film and interactive areas.
DMG Broadcasting owns a 20% stake in ITN (Independent Television News).[13] The current ITN contract for ITV News expires at the end of 2012. On 2 April 2007 ITN signed a deal which superseded the existing contract, worth at least £42m per year. ITV, which owns 40% of ITN, is investing more than £15m to upgrade ITN's newsroom as part of the deal.
------------
And the contract is up for renewal in a couple of months.
Perish the thought that the Wail had another, financial agenda for making itself look good and the BBC bad! How could anyone possibly be so cynical!

Re: Jimmy Savile accused in ITV documentary
Oh My God, my life has been ruined, torn apart, shredded. Two marriages down the pan. I always knew I wasn't right in the head.. I am irredeemably emotionally scared. No one knows what agony I have been through. It was that Paedophile who gropped me in The Odeon Cinema in Neasden in...... when was it now? But I definitely was underage, even if I wasn't allowed to go to the cinema. And besides Mummy and Daddy are dead.
How can I sue The Odeon?
Neasden didn't have an Odeon? Well, it must have been The Gaumont then.

Re: Jimmy Savile accused in ITV documentary
I never used to be so cynical. I used to think that, if someone claimed to have been abused, then they had been, because no-one would invent stories like that.
That was before I came across the compulsive, bare-faced liars in the anti-McCann brigade. Tango being a fine example - I am surprised she hasn't 'remembered' that she met Savile when they were both running a marathon and he groped her, too, which is why she is so, er, unstable, nowadays.
I have no doubt that Savile was a sexual predator - but he is DEAD. The time for all these 'victims' to come forward was when he was alive, if not at the time of the payola/sex scandal, then most certainly when Gadd was first arrested and charged. All these people would have been listened to, then, when the investigations into Gadd were going on.
To me, they were exploited all over again when that ITV show was broadcast without any fact-checking, and there is worse to come for them.
There is a point in these witch-hunts when the baying mob comes to its senses - and turns on the people it blames for starting it in the first place. It ALWAYS happens.
As was pointed out elsewhere, Karin Ward has been writing 'fantasy autobigraphy' about sex abuse as 'therapy' - but the material itself would be regarded as child pornography in other parts of the English-speaking world.
The Bebe Roberts 'victim' has been caught telling an outright lie.
'Fiona' wanted Newsnight to bet the farm on a letter she wouldn't hand over, which turned out to be a forgery anyway.
Now, none of this means Savile wasn't a dirty old man and serial sexual predator - but it really doesn't look good when 'victims' are not honest.
I am sorry for the police who have to make sense of all this. I suspect they are going to be left with virtually nothing they can bring a prosecution of any substance with. Maybe one or two minor characters like Gadd, who is vile anyway - and a nonentity, despite the Mail's attempts to hype him into a 'celebrity'.
I suggest that those who are currently dribbling on their keyboards with excitement over 'peado [sic] rings' broaden their horizons a bit and go and read The Crucible.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moral_panic
A moral panic is an intense feeling expressed in a population about an issue that appears to threaten the social order.[1] According to Stanley Cohen, author of Folk Devils and Moral Panics (1972) and credited as creator of the term, a moral panic occurs when "[a] condition, episode, person or group of persons emerges to become defined as a threat to societal values and interests".[2] Those who start the panic when they fear a threat to prevailing social or cultural values are known by researchers as moral entrepreneurs, while people who supposedly threaten the social order have been described as "folk devils".
Moral panics are in essence controversies that involve arguments and social tension and in which disagreement is difficult because the matter at its center is taboo.[3] The media have long operated as agents of moral indignation, even when they are not consciously engaged in crusading or muckraking. Simply reporting the facts can be enough to generate concern, anxiety or panic.[4]
Preparing to burn a witch in 1544. Witch-hunts are an example of mass behavior fueled by moral panic.

Re: Jimmy Savile accused in ITV documentary
Savile 'Was Barred' From Children In Need
Sky News – 14 minutes ago
Jimmy Savile was barred from any involvement with the Children In Need charity, former BBC governor Sir Roger Jones has claimed.
Despite the late presenter's fundraising efforts, which resulted in millions going to good causes, Sir Roger - a former chairman of the charity - said he had been uncomfortable about allowing Savile to have any association with the charity.
Although he had "no evidence" that Savile was up to anything, he said he found the Jim'll Fix It star's behaviour to be strange, describing him as a "pretty creepy sort of character".
He told Sky News: "There were certain rumours about his behaviour, nothing proven, just allegations. All that we could do was to make sure that our child protection policies were strong enough to withstand any kind of attack.
He said it would have been impossible to make any claims about Savile without hard evidence but, as the charity was trying to protect itself, it did not need evidence.
He added: "I had no evidence, I'm not someone that would make unwarranted allegations. I'm sure my fellow governors would not have been too pleased to have uncorroborated accusations made.
"As long as my patch was absolutely clear, the charity was clear, that was all I could really do."
Sir Roger said he did not remember suspicions about Savile being discussed at any meeting of the BBC governors.
Today marks one year since Savile's death. At the time he was saluted for his charity work and long TV career. Now, he has been described a predatory paedophile and one of Britain's most prolific sex offenders.
On Sunday, former pop star Gary Glitter became the first high-profile arrest under Scotland Yard's Operation Yewtree, which is looking at child sex abuse allegations against Savile and others.
Police have drawn up a detailed arrest strategy for other suspects, as 30 officers work through 300 claims of abuse.
Met Police Commissioner Bernard Hogan-Howe said police and other organisations missed the pattern of Savile's alleged sex offending while he was alive.
Meanwhile, Savile's own great niece told Sky News that too many people turned a blind eye for too long.
"The rewards they got from Jimmy Savile's name and everything else kept them in a lifestyle that they became accustomed to," said Caroline Robinson.
Rick Parfitt, from rock band Status Quo, said he too was unsurprised by the Savile allegations.
"A lot of us, like everybody else, we all kind of knew. We were all kind of suspicious of Jimmy Savile. We all felt 'there's something not right there'," he told The Daily Telegraph.
"But we didn’t know what, and it was kind of in the back of our minds. But you could never quite suss him out. We did so many Top of the Pops, so many Jim’ll Fix Its."
Parfitt added it was common for young women of 17 or 18 to be found in dressing rooms with famous acts.
"If you watch those early editions of Top of the Pops, all the girls there have got skirts up to their chins. There were a lot of girls knocking around downstairs and people would invite them down to the dressing room."
Over the weekend, Savile's Highland cottage was been targeted by vandals, with graffiti spray-painted across the outside.
"Jimmy the beast" was written on the wall of the remote holiday home outside the village of Glencoe, and the door was badly damaged.
Former Court of Appeal judge Dame Janet Smith has started the first of two independent inquiries.
It will focus on whether the culture and practises at the BBC allowed Savile to carry out his abuse.
A further review will examine current sexual harassment policies at the corporation.

Oh please, don't let Status Quo groupies start coming out of the woodwork.....
Very clever, vandalising the cottage - I thought it was being treated as a possible crime scene? That's that out the window now, isn't it? This is exactly what happens when the media whip up hysteria, instead of letting the police get on with their job.
