According to reports, when the guy started posting his "jokes", a group were able to identify his home address and a 50-strong mob went to seek him out. I don't understand why this vigilante action hasn't been publicly condemned regardless of the actions of the accused.

What's the problem? I thought that lot were all in favour of vigilante-ism, mob rule, and 'trial by internet'?

What's up with the hounders? Don't tell me they are scared that, when Bennett's disgusting conduct is all over the tabloids once he has finally been hauled into court, the public are going to regard them all as EXACTLY the same as the wretch who has been rightly jailed for his obscenities?

Don't they want the people of Britain to know ALL about what they have been doing to the McCanns, and others?

There isn't a case even remotely linked to small children these days that is not subjected to such abuse of the parents. Anything that smacks of the parents turning their backs for even a second, and in they go with their abuse. This is a Witch Hunt, pure and simple.

Actually they are worse in one way than the lynch mobs who appear at courts. They are too cowardly to do that.

There will be more convictions for this behaviour. Police are now more aware that no libel is required and that harassment law and communications law will bring much easier convictions. There has recently been a change of priority in a number of police forces as to financing computer crime teams. It suits the police as well as society because they are still largely target driven and now they understand that convictions can be made with some reliablility in this field it will be more beneficial to them to do work on these crimes. Chief Constables love high conviction rates and even more so when that involves tackling crime which decent people abhor.

But why has it taken The Police so long? It was obvious to all of us some years ago that what Bennett and his Foundation were doing was Stalking and Harassment. Instead of which we are being subjected to this ongoing farce. All anyone wanted, including The McCanns, was for them to stop.

Just look at it - she is swearing at and abusing a total stranger, and threatening to commit an act of violence.

That would get her a date with a criminal court in real life - but mysteriously, the troll thinks it's acceptable. And her fellow-haters are cheering her on.

Thankfully, the law is now creaking into action to deal with the likes of her. Just watch her fan club scatter when she's the star of a Daily Mail piece about sicko trolls.

But it has long been against The Law to Stalk and Harass people, which is what Bennett did to several people. And The Telecommunications Act has been in place for a number of years. And who have they dealt with so far? One dotty old man and a couple of disaffected Youths.
Personally, I think The Police are getting fed up with complaints, finally. Something in the region of 100 complaints and the latest Youth is in Court within two days, so it obviously isn't difficult.
