Why on earth did The Mail print a story that they know will upset The Duchess of Cambridge who is in a fragile state at the moment? I shudder to think what will happen if she has a miscarriage.
The hoax call was bad enough, but at least it wasn't deliberately malicious. Printing that article is malicious.
Even The Press coverage of Diana was in some part encouraged by her, and she did court The Media to her own advantage. But The Duchess of Cambridge has done nothing to deserve this. A large part of her newly married life has been spent behaving perfectly correctly and in promoting Britain. And if The Media don't treat her with a measure of respect then something drastic will have to be done. But then something drastic would have to be done if The Media treated a common and garden pregnant woman in this fashion.

Royal Prank Call Nurse 'Left Three Notes'

The nurse tricked by a radio prank call was found hanging from a wardrobe by a scarf, an inquest has heard.

Jacintha Saldanha died days after falling victim to the hoax that targeted the hospital where the Duchess of Cambridge was being treated.

And the opening of her inquest at Westminster Coroner's Court heard injuries were also found on the nurse's wrists - and that she had also left three notes.

Two were found in her room at London's King Edward VII hospital and another was among her possessions.

The inquest was told police were exploring emails and texts sent by the 46-year-old, who was discovered in her nurses' quarters by a colleague and a security guard on Friday.

Officers are also interviewing Ms Saldanha's friends and family, and staff at the Australian radio station responsible for the prank.

Detective Chief Inspector James Harman said: "On Friday December 7 Jacintha Saldanha was found by a colleague and a member of security staff. Sadly she was found hanging.

"There was also injuries to her wrist. The London Ambulance Service was called to the scene. At this time there are no suspicious circumstances."

The inquest came as pressure mounted on bosses at the radio station to name the executives responsible for airing the hoax.

Sky News understands Australia's independent media watchdog, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), has had 2,500 complaints from around the world over the 2Day FM segment.

ACMA has announced a rare fast-track investigation into the prank, which saw Ms Saldanha put two radio hosts through to a fellow nurse who unwittingly revealed details about Kate's treatment.

DJs Mel Greig and Michael Christian impersonated the Queen and Prince Charles, with the "monarch" making enquiries about her "granddaughter".

Australia's radio broadcasting code stipulates that it is a breach to record a person in conversation, and also air it, without their knowledge.

The radio station insists it did not break the law and says it tried to contact the hospital on five separate occasions. The hospital disputes any contact was ever sought.

I know who I believe, and it isn't the morons at the radio station. Apart from anything else, nothing says GUILTY like handing over hundreds of thousands of pounds before being asked.

Did she have other underlying problems? Although Asians do have a far greater sense of loss of face than The Western World.
Not that any of this makes a vast difference. It is illegal to steal an identity, and to broadcast a tape recording of a person without permission, unless an inherent threat is made.
I am appalled by the lack of respect for The Queen, although I don't think that in itself is a crime. But more to the point, a complete lack of concern for a young, pregnant woman who is ill at the moment.
In the end The Press yet again have made things so much worse.

This is obviously a lie, Tony. The hospital almost certainly knew nothing about this until the tape was broadcast. So was no one answering the phone that day for some inexplicable reason. Make excuses by all means but lying about it is just stupid, and so easily seen through.

IMO, that is the key to it, Sabot. And from where I am sitting, the call WAS malicious - how can a call aimed at an ill, pregnant woman, nursing staff and a hospital be anything else?

It's no different to making hoax calls to fire stations; there are some things decent people just do not do for 'laffs'.

I don't either, tony. Assuming that, like most hospitals etc they have a log in automatic system then there would be proof (?) that such calls were made on the manifest. The KEV11 is a very modern, up-to-date hospital - it has to be considering who its patients are. LL

ETA: Apparently there have been suggestions, especially on certain ossie blogs, I am told by a reliable source, that Jacintha's suicide was over a failed marriage, hubby having an affair with her best friend, hubby admitting he is gay and so on. It is obvious that these hateful creatures do not understand what taking one's own life means for a practising Catholic - it is a mortal sin and as such debars the person from Heaven. As a marriage can be mended or problems in it tolerated, I cannot see this lady killing herself over such matters. However, if she felt that by her actions she hurt the Queen and the Royal Family she may well have decided that she had failed them and she would be better dead. I think it was a spur of the moment thing; that what had happened preyed on her mind so much, that her feelings of having betrayed the Royals, were just too much to bear. This is what I think; I could be very wrong and will be the first to admit it, but those who instigated the idea of this prank and those who gleefully carried it out should be dealt with harshly. LL
