Re: Royal Prank Call Nurse 'Commits Suicide'
It's being overlooked in all this that KE VII isn't just a 'royal' hospital, it also takes patients from the armed forces and the NHS.
The Aussie Whingers claimed that they thought 'hundreds' of people would be doing the same as them. In reality, I cannot recall anyone ever doing anything as moronic as this before.
I can only assume they think the entire world is as braindead and nasty as they are - which happily, it isn't.
I suspect they thought they were going to wriggle out of responsibility after their crocodile tears act; it will be a nasty shock to have to explain themselves to the police, who will have seen crocodile tears many times before.

IMO, that is the key to it, Sabot. And from where I am sitting, the call WAS malicious - how can a call aimed at an ill, pregnant woman, nursing staff and a hospital be anything else?
It's no different to making hoax calls to fire stations; there are some things decent people just do not do for 'laffs'.
I don't think they set out to cause harm, Bonny. Just no sense of what is acceptable. Extremely juvenile in fact. But this tends to be the way of the world these days.
To my mind it is The Press who are being malicious, and after all that has happened this last ten years, The Press should bloody well know better.
I can hardly believe what they have lately done. And if this doesn't give Cameron a wake up call, then nothing will.

ETA: Apparently there have been suggestions, especially on certain ossie blogs, I am told by a reliable source, that Jacintha's suicide was over a failed marriage, hubby having an affair with her best friend, hubby admitting he is gay and so on. It is obvious that these hateful creatures do not understand what taking one's own life means for a practising Catholic - it is a mortal sin and as such debars the person from Heaven. As a marriage can be mended or problems in it tolerated, I cannot see this lady killing herself over such matters. However, if she felt that by her actions she hurt the Queen and the Royal Family she may well have decided that she had failed them and she would be better dead. I think it was a spur of the moment thing; that what had happened preyed on her mind so much, that her feelings of having betrayed the Royals, were just too much to bear. This is what I think; I could be very wrong and will be the first to admit it, but those who instigated the idea of this prank and those who gleefully carried it out should be dealt with harshly. LL
On reflection over the last few days it does seem likely that there was more to this than a hoax phone call, especially as she wasn't the one who released information. But perhaps without this added burden she might have coped.
Who knows what anyone is going through when tricks are played?

I pretty much agree, LL, the poor woman felt she had failed in her duty. Let's not forget that, though India is a republic, it is still a member of the Commonwealth, of which the Queen is head.
The shame would have been devastating, IMO, especially as she was so proud of working there, according to her relatives in India.

Re: Royal Prank Call Nurse 'Commits Suicide'
The Hospital needs to get itself a well trained Night Receptionist. Most of us would have spotted the ghastly, phony accents, among other things, but she wasn't a native English speaker. Was the other Nurse, I wonder? Not that this has much to do with it.

There's an awful lot we don't know, Sabot. I personally think we haven't heard the entire tape, and that there is material missing at least from the start of it.

Do you think someone pretended to be an Aide or an Equerry, Bonny? That would be a bit more normal than The Queen making the call herself.

I think there's something missing, Sabot, I don't believe it started, Hello, can I speak to my granddaughter Kate, as the radio station is claiming.
That makes no sense whatsoever.

If someone with a posh accent pretending to be an Aide first made the call, and then handed the phone to The Queen, supposedly, then that would make more sense, and the nurse being more easily taken in. This would be protocol for such a call.
There is so much that is wrong with the whole thing.

Re: Royal Prank Call Nurse 'Commits Suicide'
I agree with Sabot. The whole thing smacks of something nasty, I don't know what. But no way is the Queen or Charles for that matter going to dial anywhere; that's what Royal servants are for, initial contact would be by the Equery, who then would hand the phone to the Queen or her son. I think the tape was doctored once the radio station realised they were in deep doodah; someone called the hospital posing as the Queen's Equery, maybe the male half of this idiot pair, and then supposedly handed the receiver to the Queen. Jacintha does not strike me as a fool, but if she thought the person she was speaking to was the Equery, then she would have passed the call on. LL

Royal Prank Call Nurse's Body Is Released
The body of Jacintha Saldanha is released after a coroner's court hearing, as the DJs behind the call are moved to safehouses.
The body of a nurse tricked by a radio prank call has been released following a coroner's court hearing.
Jacintha Saldanha died days after falling victim to the hoax that targeted the hospital where the Duchess of Cambridge was being treated.
The opening of her inquest at Westminster Coroner's Court heard injuries were found on her wrists - and that she had left three notes.
Two were found in her room at London's King Edward VII hospital. The other was among her possessions.
The inquest was told police were exploring emails and texts sent by the 46-year-old, who was discovered by a colleague and a security guard on Friday.
Officers are also interviewing Ms Saldanha's friends and family and staff at the Australian radio station responsible for the prank.
Her body was released to undertakers on behalf of the family after the hearing, at around 11am.
Detective Chief Inspector James Harman said: "On Friday December 7 Jacintha Saldanha was found by a colleague and a member of security staff. Sadly she was found hanging.
"There were also injuries to her wrists. The London Ambulance Service was called to the scene. At this time there are no suspicious circumstances."
The inquest came as pressure mounted on bosses at the radio station to name the executives responsible for airing the hoax call.
Sky News understands Australia's independent media watchdog, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), has had 2,500 complaints from around the world over the 2Day FM segment.
ACMA has announced a rare fast-track investigation into the prank, which saw Ms Saldanha put two radio hosts through to a fellow nurse who unwittingly revealed details about Kate's treatment.
DJs Mel Greig and Michael Christian impersonated the Queen and Prince Charles, with the "monarch" making enquiries about her "granddaughter".
They have been moved into safehouse accommodation and been given 24-hour bodyguard protection, according to reports.
Australian news website news.co.au said police have launched an investigation due to staff receiving death threats, with one letter specifically targeting Christian.
The letter reportedly said there are "bullets out there with your (Christian's) name on" and contained further threats involving a shotgun.
Australia's radio broadcasting code stipulates that it is a breach to record a person in conversation, and also air it, without their knowledge.
The radio station insists it did not break the law and says it tried to contact the hospital on five separate occasions. The hospital disputes any contact was ever sought.

Safe houses? Death threats? 24-hour guards? Yeah, right, more likely just more of their stupid, unfunny 'pranks'. Unless Harry heading is their way in his gunship, of course.

Sorry, I don't believe they are sot important that someone would want to kill them. Duff them up, maybe, by why risk going to jail for such a couple of morons. It's a publicity stunt, and the reason why the ossie police etc are falling for it escapes me. They've already demonstrated to the entire world that their idea of 'fun' is telling lies, sorry, playing 'pranks' on hospitals. As you say, LL, they really aren't worth it, the law can deal with them.
Oh, is that it? Legal matters getting a bit hot so now they decide to play the 'death threat' trick to get sympathy?

It's all them offspring of Criminals that were deported. Although I have to say that a fair few of my Family seem to have suffered that fate, if you can call it, "Suffered."
But you have to admit that certain factions of Australian Society are not all that enamored of The Queen as such. But no doubt they would love it if she went to live there.
Read Nevil Shute, "In the Wet". Such an insightful story. Everything of The Spiritual, Foresight and Common Sense. But then all of his books are just that.

Re: Royal Prank Call Nurse 'Commits Suicide'
My my my, look at this, from:
http://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/kate-hoax-nurse-jacintha-saldanha-left-three-suicide-notes-8412411.html
It also emerged that the DJs who carried out the prank had been told previously not to air any hoax calls without permission. The claim directly contradicts statements by presenters Michael Christian and Mel Greig, who have claimed they were unaware of the approval process for prank calls
That puts rather a different complexion on things, doesn't it, if it is accurate? It would explain why the radio station paid out so much money, so quickly - they know they have done something totally indefensible.
If that is true, the pair of them are in very, very big trouble indeed.

Re: Royal Prank Call Nurse 'Commits Suicide'
If this is the case then it is more than indefensible. But the blame has to rest with The Company Lawyers who approved this. These two are just a couple of stupid dick heads who sought to attract publicity for The Radio Show, but they cannot have done this without approbation.
So, they are both very juvenile and that is sad. But the ultimate responsibility is not theirs.
And in my opinion The Company can forget half a million because it is no where near enough, even if this poor woman had lived.
It is so much more to do with trashing the lives of ordinary people for a bit of a laugh.
There is a vast Malaise at foot in the world today.
But, you see, we don't do things like this because we know that it is wrong. And by virtue of that alone there are still recognisable standards beyond which we do not go.
And it is such an ordinary thing.
Do not ever bear false witness. And never covet.

Re: Royal Prank Call Nurse 'Commits Suicide'
Mail:
However, while it was Mel Greig and Michael Christian who actually made the fateful phone call, it is unclear who was responsible for signing off on the cruel hoax.
The two DJs, as well as the chief executive of the radio station's parent company, have repeatedly claimed that correct legal procedures were followed, but refused to specify which executives or lawyers approved the call.
I cannot find anyone prepared to state, Yes, I OK'd it. There are a lot of Sources, and Claims, but nothing definite at all that I can find - others may have better luck.
I wouldn't take it for granted that it was properly cleared; I am sure the police, etc., can get to the bottom of it.

So no one is prepared to say who sanctioned this, either before or after The Event. Australia Sucks. Absolutely no accountability.
I am really sad about this because I believed that Australia was really okay. And perhaps it is. But not looking good at the moment.
