Re: BENNETT GETS HIS DAY IN COURT
One thing keeps niggling in my head. Why did he let it get this far? Surely he didn't expect to get away with his actions?
Has he allowed it to go this far just to stroke his own ego? Something isn't right with this and I cannot put my finger on what it is. He's devious man and I don't trust him one iota.

Re: BENNETT GETS HIS DAY IN COURT
It may be that he's fantasised about strutting around the High Court, declaring, I put to to you that... all his long, loser, life, Tony.
That, and getting his ego stroked by his fan club, has driven him to disaster. Not to mention his inability to grasp basic English.
For instance:
I am only a pitchforker
does NOT mean the same as
I am the only pitchforker.
How many times has he been told that, and he's chosen not to grasp it?
I think he was so carried away with himself, he thought the High Court was going to be dazzled by his display of rapier-like legal skills. Instead, he made a fool of himself, utterly.

This isn't over yet, he won't stop, Bonny. He can't stop because he is obsessed with the McCanns. Trust me, he'll be back, with a vengeance.

Well, if he does, he is heading the right way for a jail cell, Tony.

He could be trying to shaft Carter Ruck, and leave them with a pile of unpaid Costs. He is fast approaching "Nothing to Lose" so he won't care if they bankrupt him.
The Judge lifts The Undertaking. Bennett proceeds to more Libel. The McCanns will be more or less forced to pursue him for Libel. He gets to strut around The Courtroom He is Bankrupt and can't pay anyway.

He's had it.

Did Bennett actually grasp why he was in court? Because it doesn't seem like it, from the number of times the judge told him off.
It was not just anybody who asked him about that it was Justice Tugendhat himself who did.
Tug asked for clarification that TB had not included the Attorney General (final report) in any of his publications.
That is not going to go down well with the Judge.

Re: BENNETT GETS HIS DAY IN COURT
Question.
Bennett seems to have forgotten to mention that he appears to have sold a copy of Reasons to Carter Ruck in August 2011.
I wonder why that would be? He seems to have been inordinately careless about who he was selling them to.

Re: BENNETT GETS HIS DAY IN COURT
In my opinion, JT will not lift the undertakings. He may proceed to make them more onerous?
He understands what TB is like. He knows he picks and chooses and does not necessarily come to the correct conclusion. Heck, he could not have been clearer when he stated that TB did not include the final report.

Re: BENNETT GETS HIS DAY IN COURT
Agree, Lily - I can see some kind of restraining order being imposed, with the threat of instant jail, now the judge has seen for himself what Bennett's like.

That was the killer, in my opinion, Lily. Blatant Bias. It will even likely kill any Libel Trial.

Re: BENNETT GETS HIS DAY IN COURT
I am genuinely stunned at that - though it does explain a lot of hounder and forker thinking.
Oh, we're not going to pay attention to the final report, the one by the Portuguese Attorney General. No, we much prefer the half-time score, the one written by that mate of Gonc's that's been convicted of torture.
Madness! Bennett hasn't a hope in Hell after that.

The hounders and forkers always ignore that like it is NOT IMPORTANT. When IT IS.

Complete bias, Sabot. No way around it. Any possible libel trial is dead in the water.
You can bet your bottom dollar that JT fully appreciates and sympathizes with what the McCanns have been going through courtesy of TB and his hounders.

Re: BENNETT GETS HIS DAY IN COURT
Sticking the judge's photo on their banner, with words he hadn't said attributed to him, wasn't the brightest of things to do. For all they know, HE is a member, and knows exactly what's in their members' area.
And selling a copy of Reasons to Carter Ruck.....

That was not unlike this then
AP asked TB to repeat his earlier claim about what KM's last answer after her 48 questions.
TB did this.
AP then read out KM's actual words (which were not the same as TB's version).
JT told TB to step down.
JT did not get to be where he is by being stupid. He will have noted how TB has a habit of twisting things.

Re: BENNETT GETS HIS DAY IN COURT
That is actually a very, very serious one, isn't it? I don't know, maybe the judge will simply order Bennett to be committed to Broadmoor for the rest of his natural life...
I doubt if he has ever seen a performance like that in the High Court before.

Re: BENNETT GETS HIS DAY IN COURT
I honestly believe that JT will be feeling great empathy for the McCanns, in having had to endure the likes of TB and his gang for all this time.
Who in their right mind would base such serious accusations and a full on hate campaign against a vulnerable family, upon reading a half-time score?
It is as insane as it sounds.

A bit like The Only Assumption and Only An Assumption. But these aren't mistakes. These are deliberate misquotes designed to influence Public Opinion against The McCanns. And if that isn't Libel then I don't know what is.
Carter Ruck will make minced meat out of Bennett if this ever goes to Libel Trial.
But Judge Tugendhat already knows this.

Actually, I don't think it is Judge Tugendhat's place to feel empathy for anyone, difficult though that might be. But rest assured that he already knows what path this will follow, depending on what he decides to do. He is already light years ahead of all of us. And he will not allow Bennett to make capital out of this.
He has the power to put a stop to this if he thinks that this is best for everyone, including Bennett.

Re: BENNETT GETS HIS DAY IN COURT
I get what you are saying Sabot. He has to mete out what is correct according to the laws of the land, but he is still a human being. I do not see him as unfeeling somehow.
I completely agree with you in that he has the wisdom to be light years ahead of us and he will do the right thing.

Re: BENNETT GETS HIS DAY IN COURT
Bennett seems to be in the grip of some kind of mental illness, IMO.
He seems to think it's up to other people to tell him when he is doing something he isn't allowed to. He doesn't seem to grasp that
IT IS HIS RESPONSIBILITY NOT TO BREACH LEGAL UNDERTAKINGS, NO-ONE ELSE'S.

Re: BENNETT GETS HIS DAY IN COURT
A hounder suggests:
sharonl, is there a way that we could donate for Goncalo to come over for Tony's next hearing?
I think that's a fantastic idea - the judge could do a twofer on them!
