THE BABY IS ON ITS WAY!!!! UPDATE - IT'S A BOY!

Only one of my children was born at full moon, and spot on. It was by far the easiest of the three so there could be something to it, Lily.
Moon influences are a scientific fact, and not the munbo jumbo some would have us believe. The Moon does affect the tides, every body knows that, and this is hardly airy fairy nonsense.

I was listening to some items on the radio and one of the Canadian reporters said words to the effect that the grandparents, Charles and DIANA were elated. She corrected herself with adding "sorry the late Diana", and very pointedly added "William's mother"! At no point did anyone mention the camel!! LL   

I don't resent a few pennies of my taxes going towards the royals. I very much resent ANY of my taxes going to a bunch of pitchforking layabouts whose idea of 'work' is lying on their grubby sofas watching Jeremy Kyle for tips on 'body language' whilst tweeting abuse.

Just think how many monarchs would have given their eye teeth to have three generations of male heir in direct line of succession - despite the fact that many of the most memorable and strong rulers in England and Europe have been female....

It's unfortunate that Scotland's contribution to female monarchy was Mary. Who was certainly memorable, but for all the wrong reasons.

It is pretty awesome, Bonny. And I make no apology for being a believer in male heredity.
I have three sons, all of whom I am rightly proud. Sadly, no daughter, but I would probably have turned her into a harridan if I had one.
This does not mean that I think women are incapable, because clearly they aren't. But there is a natural order to things. The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.

It doesn't bother me one way or another, Sabot. The Duke of Windsor was proof that strict adherence to the rules can lead to disaster. Though tens of millions of people owe their lives and freedom to him keeping his brains in his Y-fronts.

No, that was okay, Bonny. He ruled himself out. He did have a choice, and fortunately for Britain, he made the right one. Although you might blame his mother for that, or not. She really scared me. That was a German if ever I saw one.

I do have some difficulty with the Teutonic influence on The Royal Family, but Elizabeth the Second put paid to that. Or maybe her mother. And she was a Scot. And she never put a foot wrong either.

It is all now going rather well, apart from the minor blip with Diana.

"In the Wet" by Neville Shute is worth a read. But then everything he ever wrote is.

I never 'got' Diana, I didn't like her melodramas, and her need to manipulate people into taking sides....

It was a shame for the boys to lose their mum, but that applies to any children whose mother dies when they are young.

I suspect Camilla is a far more stable influence; I can't imagine her throwing herself down the palace stairs because Charles wasn't paying her enough attention. She's more likely to breath a sigh of relief and go and ride an 'orse.

And no, I don't believe Di's death was any great conspiracy - I am pretty sure she died in a stupid, avoidable accident because she wasn't wearing a seat belt.

If she hadn't died, she would most likely have caused endless scandal with a succession of tacky 'boyfriends' and would now be persona non grata at royal functions, a la Duchess Fergie.

No, I never got Diana either, Bonny. Poor, silly little girl who just didn't know how to behave. Kate Middleton is nothing like her. We won't ever see The Duchess of Cambridge behaving like Diana, even if she feels like it. Her mother would soon put her right on that one.

All is looking very good to me from my far off shore. At the moment I have more faith in Britain than I have had for a very long time.

And at 2pm the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery and the Honourable Artillery Company will both carry out the ceremonial salutes in honour of the new addition to the Royal Family. There will be a 41 gun salute at Green Park and 62 gun salute at the Tower of London.

The bells at Westminster Abbey, where Kate and William married just over two years ago, will also ring out for three hours from 2pm this afternoon.

Oh, and Kate's hairdresser has arrived at the hospital, so the media is in a frenzy over who's going to get the first picture...

I confidently predict that Royal Baby is going to turn out to be rather a large baby, with the right number of everything. Oh, and wrapped in a shawl.

I'd forgotten about that, and how spiteful it was. I don't think Diana would have been able to resist meddling between Wills and Kate.

It is just not possible for a Royal to raise a child single handedly. And in my opinion, no mother should be expected to anyway. Unless she wants to.
I was so very lucky. I had a truly lovely Amah for my youngest son. I didn't care about the fact that he loved her. I only cared about the fact that she loved him. And we all benefited. My son was well loved, and I got on with doing what I was good at, which was actually running a nursery school. Call that ironic, if you like. It was a very happy time in my life, and I got an enormous amount of satisfaction from dealing with small children that weren't my own, while my own children were never neglected.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will at some time in the future have to rely on the help of a Nanny or some such thing. Call it what you like. Kate will know if it is good.

about: "her need to manipulate people into taking sides....", with all do respect, I disagree, do you think that Diana´s care for those in need, which she helped, was manipulation? well, if you people have that type of thoughts, with all do respect but you are wrong. But, this is an issue which is not related with this topic.

It's nothing to do with 'thoughts', Pedro, Dodi was just the last in a long line of them, married and single -Diana was no saint.

No, possibly not the right time or the right place. But most people outside of UK didn't know what Diana was doing. She was the one who first broke their marriage vows.
This does not necessarily exonerate Charles, who incidentally should never have married a spoiled brat in the first place. But there were signs of how ridiculous she was likely to be before he even tied the knot.
Refusing to turn up at some official function because she was offended for some reason that escaped us all.
