1. Russians aren't impressed with woolly political correctness.

2. The Cold War is over; Reagan 'won' it, but Obama has thrown away everything since then.

That's the Russian nationalist Pravda.

The other one is the descendant of the Communist Pravda. Doesn't say much for his intelligence skills that he didn't even get that right.

It breaks my heart to see America going this way. All this is showing is ignorance by McCain.

As for that phoney PhD person, I did read that when it came out and was sickened.

That's about the size of it. McCain seems to think Russians aren't quite capable of using the internet, reading the US media, watching US news, etc., and seeing all the extremely nasty scandals swirling round Obama.

Patronising Russians as if the communists were still in charge was foolish; indeed, the current Russian regime is MORE capitalist, if anything, than Obama's US appears to be.

Maybe McCain thinks Russians don't know about Benghazi? I doubt if Putin would let a Russian ambassador and others be slaughtered by Jihadists in the first place. And if it did happen, there would soon be a smoking hole where said Jihadists had been based.

The whole Benghazi issue stinks to high heaven. We read the news. We know that help was available in the form of a short flight away.

Once again, the Obama administration was lying through its teeth.

I find it very sad that it has come to this, Lily. I doubt if anyone in the West greatly likes Putin, but they have a healthy respect for him. He's one of the few who don't pussyfoot around being politically correct about what these 'rebels' actually are, and isn't scared to say so.

He also has a grip on what is going on in the Middle East; he isn't getting his information from twitter, YouTube and 26-year-old females with fake degrees who are actually working for the so-called 'rebels'.

Yes, Bonny, the word is respect where Putin is concerned. That came as something of a shock, believe me.

It says it all that McCain didn't even write for the 'correct' Pravda - this is the one he seems to think he was writing for...



He was writing for the nationalist online one, not the paper communist one. Perhaps he asked a 26 year old 'Russian expert' for advice?

Paid for by US and UK taxpayers, no doubt. Obama and Cameron would be well-advised to STFU on subject of Islamic terrorists, as they've been helping to fund the scum.

People giving money to help millions of refugees from the civil war in Syria are inadvertently supporting terrorism, the charity watchdog has warned.

A team of weapons experts have begun destroying Syria's chemical stockpiles and production facilities, a UN source has told AP news service.

The source said members of the team from the UN and The Hague-based Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) "have left for a site where they are beginning verification and destruction".

"Today is the first day of destruction, in which heavy vehicles are going to run over, and thus destroy missile warheads, aerial chemical bombs and mobile and static mixing and filling units," the source added.

I do hope the ones being run over are the ones which are harmless till they're mixed...

But isn't that better than bombing the daylights out of civilians who are already trapped in a horrible civil war?

No-one believes all the crap about smart bombs and pinpoint accuracy in civilian areas these days; too many schools, hospitals, busloads of refugees, old men on donkeys and embassies have been hit for that one to work any longer. In practise, their 'smart bombs' don't seem much improvement on dropping bombs out of Lancasters - and less accurate in some cases.

I think that the oxymoron is in the word smart.  

I can see their point if attacking a brigade of enemy tanks in the middle of a desert, Lily - though even then, they'd probably manage to blow up some harmless goat herder.

But in civilian, residential areas? They seem to be little better than carpet-bombing.

That's the problem, Bonny. I think they use those terms to induce a sense of 'comfort' in the public? I use the word comfort loosely.

It's the pretence that annoys me, Lily. If you are going to bomb a country, then just say so, knowing innocent civilians are going to be killed.

Don't pretend you have 'smart' bombs that are only going to neatly destroy Evil Buildings, and that your 'smart' bombs are mysteriously going to make civilians immune to injury and death from blast waves, exploding masonry, being in the wrong place at the wrong time - and malfunctioning guidance systems that think a hospital is a 'command centre'.

I cannot fault your post one bit, Bonny. The other words are 'surgical strike'.

Britain will face at least one attempted major terror attack every year for the next few years, the head of MI5 has warned.

In his first speech since taking over the Security Service in April, Andrew Parker told a private audience at the Royal United Services Institute: "Since 2000, we have seen serious attempts at major acts of terrorism in this country typically once or twice a year.

"That feels to me, for the moment, unlikely to change."

Among the reasons for this are the increasing numbers of Britons going to Syria to try to become jihadists.

In his off-camera speech, Mr Parker said: "A growing proportion of our casework now has some link to Syria, mostly concerning individuals from the UK who have travelled to fight there or who aspire to do so.

"Al Nusrah and other extremist Sunni groups there aligned with al Qaeda aspire to attack Western countries."

Syria Rebels Parade Child Hostages On YouTube
Islamist fighters systematically shot dead people in their beds in what could amount to a crime against humanity, HRW says.

Rebel forces in Syria have killed at least 190 civilians and seized dozens of child hostages, who they have paraded in a video posted on YouTube, Human Rights Watch says.

Fighters burned villages, threw bodies in mass graves and kidnapped women and children in acts described as likely "crimes against humanity" by HRW.

Witnesses gave harrowing accounts of family members being executed in their beds during an attack on August 4.

One man said he was forced to flee, leaving his paralysed son and wife to die at the hands of armed rebels.
