What is wrong with them? Why are they so desperate to make the world believe a child is dead?

That is what they live for. Not forgetting getting her parents in jail for crimes perceived in their little hater brains, together with the twins being put into care somewhere. Then they may be satisfied. Or maybe not satisfied.

They do not care to think for a second that her parents are innocent, when they have a vigilante mob at the ready.   

Innocence or guilt is by the by. And always has been with these people. There is no Rule of Law in their heads.
Until one day it happens to them. Don't call me.

Sadly, Lily, I now hope that they will. Although it will serve no purpose. And they won't see the irony anyway. People of this mindset never do. They already have their own demons. They are already vastly damaged, almost certainly by their own inadequacies and past mistakes.
It is actually really sad that they have so lost their compassion because it becomes impossible to offer compassion to them.

Little wonder they pitchfork the McCanns then.

Have McCanns fallen out with their lawyer? It seems strange that as Kate suddenly decides to appear as a witness, Isabel has a day off? Isabel was very stressed at the last session, as the wonderful Anne Guedes found out. When Goncalo's lawyer was indisposed, the session was adjourned. I think there may be trouble at mill......

ORLY? Best she leave the thinking to the grown-ups, then, as she could scarcely be more wrong if she tried.      

Oh, and Guedes is anything but 'wonderful'.
