Investigation
PJ has identified raptor Daniel
Kidnapper wanted to take care of the baby 18 months kidnapped in Madeira. CM tells all.
Looks like the PJ are going with our, Not quite right in the head, theory. Let's hope they aren't stitching up some poor woman to cover their own balls-ups.

Lily, I haven't even seen what they were living in. I don't think I want to say more than that.

Won't have done much for Madeira's image for footage of the family home - the area in general, actually - to have been so widely broadcast, Sabot.

Re: baby disappears in Madeira
Exactly, Bonny. That is the main reason why I think they are re-doing it. This would be explainable in a Third World country but inconceivable in a place like Madeira.

I don't think I even want to think about this. It is a sad day when a child has been found and I am more concerned with what The PJ might have done to them.

Re: baby disappears in Madeira
All's well that ends well, Sabot.
The baby was found alive, his family are getting a new house, and every single person following this saga has watched in open-mouthed horror at the sheer ineptitude of the PJ.
According to some reports, local searchers wanted to carry on overnight but the PJ wouldn't let them - presumably, they were needed elsewhere helping CdM get its double page Smear Special published.
And you have to enjoy the sheer desperation of Luz and co trying to spin this shambles as some kind of Cunning Plan by the PJ.

Re: baby disappears in Madeira
Sabot, the child came first but then we heard more about the PJ's bungling, and then saw that the state of the family's living conditions were outrageous. This is in the wonderful world that Luz paints.
Which is why she sounds like a raving lunatic.

I just cannot countenance them living in a shit hole in the first place. Another bunch of peasants for the likes of Morais and Luz to despise.
And believe me, I saw a few peasants during my forays to Portugal. But then I tend to notice things like that, being a closet socialist.

Yes, Sabot.

Re: baby disappears in Madeira
What scares me is how very near Daniel's parents were to getting the full smear treatment. If he hadn't been found, you can bet your bottom dollar they would both have ended up being jailed for a crime they didn't commit, and abused as child-killers by rags like CdM.
I never expected to see that scenario played out in front of us again - this time with an ending no-one had predicted. Least of all the PJ.

Well this is a case of Karma in action. It has gone global. They will have to be very careful of how they behave in the future.

This is the really scary thing. And so close it came. This is actually why I feel ill. There is nothing they could have done.
And nothing I can say. That's it. Nothing.

Agent PSP took and sold photographs with Daniel
By Lilia Bernardes Today7 comments
Police recorded phone pictures with the boy of 18 months at the time it was found and admits that sold them. Says that the money was to give the family of Daniel
The agent of the Police station Calheta took pictures of the boy's mobile phone after he was found and have sold pictures to the media, now claiming that the money raised is to be offered to the child who was missing family.
The act can be a serious disciplinary offense and set exposure and minor crimes of unlawful photography. This is a child, who despite having been missing, have the right to be protected and this is the duty of the authorities.
The PSP was questioned by DN but did not react.

Daniel is now at home with parents
By Lilia Bernardes and Lusa
(UPDATE at 16:20) Daniel, the baby of 18 months which disappeared a week ago and reappeared 70 hours later, already with parents, Calheta, Madeira, after being discharged from the hospital this morning from Funchal, the 10:30 AM.
Parents are the child happily and quickly went home. A few minutes later they were surprised by the arrival of a minivan Pingo Doce supermarket chain that emerged for, under the gaze of many journalists, delivering food and other goods - like diapers - the family.
This apparent solidarity action was not previously announced.
"Right now I've got what I most want at home is Daniel," said the mother of Daniel, Lydia Freitas.
Accompanied by Aunt Katie, Lydia Freitas arrived today to the house of in-laws, who live with the boy who was immediately taken out of the car and carried, wrapped in a blanket, into the housing.
"Daniel is well thanks to God, thanking you [media] that [we] give our space because Daniel at this time, want to be near family," he said.
Also grandfather, Augustine Abreu said to the boy at home "is happier."
Rosa Sousa, grandmother, also expressed his satisfaction saying he was "happy that the nightmare is over."
At the end of the morning, Miguel Ferreira, president of SESARAM, health services in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, told journalists that the child was discharged to be clinically well. He added that for security reasons the Judicial Police was informed that the child would leave the hospital.
The child was then handed over to the parents. When the DN found, Social Security was not called to intervene in this case.
The police continue to investigate what happened on Sunday afternoon when Daniel disappeared, Calheta, Madeira. The family was home for a few uncles when he failed to see the baby.
The police raided the place and asked the parents but Sunday until the early hours of Wednesday nothing was known.
It was a levadeiro, who works in the irrigation canals, he found Daniel brought by the New. The baby has since been in hospital in Funchal.
The abduction theory gains strength as an explanation for the case. The lowest was found at about 1500 meters from the family home. The Judicial Police continue to investigate.

Re: baby disappears in Madeira
It might be an idea for the Gonzo fan club to stop pretending that Daniel was found thanks to some Cunning Plan of the PJ and just admit that they stuffed up badly.
The ridiculous excuses being invented are making the PJ look desperate, frankly. And there's still the little matter of the double-page Smear Spread in CdM to be explained by whoever was passing 'information' to that rag.
