Civil Protection rejects responsibility in stopping child searches in Madeira

The President of the Regional Service of Civil Protection and Fire Wood ( SRPC ) today refused any responsibility for the decision to discontinue the search of missing child Sunday at Calheta , adding that the operation was coordinated by the police .

Eighteen-month-old Daniel Abreu, the baby who went missing on Sunday afternoon in Madeira, has been found alive and well, not far from the place from which he went missing.

News reports coming in say the little boy was found this morning by an irrigation canal. According to Antena 1, it was not one of the places searched by police (who called off their hunt on Monday late morning, saying they had run out of places to look in), but close nonetheless to the house where the child had been with his parents.

The news comes after Correio da Manhã ran a two-page spread this morning saying police inquiries were beginning to centre on parental involvement in their son’s disappearance.

Details of Daniel’s condition have so far been sketchy. Jornal de Notícias reports that he is “apparently healthy”, while other news channels say he has been taken to hospital, but only to be checked.

Frankly, it's a pity CdM can't be hauled in front of a public inquiry in Portugal - it's glaringly obvious that they are hand in glove with certain elements in the PJ, smearing when they're ordered to by....SOMEONE.

They've been caught red-handed this time, but it is very far from the first time CdM has been involved in whipping up lynch mobs.

As for that risible Team Gonzo broadcast by CMTV - the station would have been shut down in many democracies for broadcasting that load of lies.

Though perhaps as it's only CMTV, it should be regarded the same way as the more obscure satellite channels are - Jackass rather suits it. Or maybe one of the porn channels, given its obsession with sex.

Regarding the case of little Daniel, in Madeira, CMTV remind them of the missing children cases that have so far proved inconclusive. The Maddie McCann case proved to be a mystery.
Have the body of Joana Cipriano never appeared, although there were convictions.


That's an unusual admittance from CMTV - is the tide turning, tick-tock?

Seriously, there is bound to be some panic in the higher echelons of the PJ over this balls-up.

As has been demonstrated by Luz the poster-ripper and wannabee arsonist proclaiming that:

Calling off a search for a missing child because it's dark, and trying to smear said child's parents and making use of your chums in CdM to do so;

Doing-naff all else till said missing child is found, wet, hungry and distressed, in moorland, by a couple of workmen, not that far from where said child vanished;

Is somehow brilliant police work, indeed, an all-round Cunning Plan.

The total incompetence is stunning as is the lack of admitting responsibility by the PJ. There must be a few good ones in other areas?

I don't know how it works in Portugal, but a mess-up like this would often lead to investigations and sackings in the UK.

Someone in the PJ hasn't just been incompetent, they have acted with malice, IMO - who inspired CdM to start with their usual smears from Sources, and double-page spreads attacking Daniel's parents?

If Daniel hadn't - thank God - been found, then CdM would doubtless be whipping up a lynch mob, as they have done in the past.

And his poor parents would have been on the receiving end of the abuse that has been hurled at others with missing children in Portugal, and no doubt ended up in jail after a farce of a trial.
