Re: baby disappears in Madeira
It most definitely was dereliction of duty. How could that have happened though?
How often have we been told about them loving children etc?

Re: baby disappears in Madeira
If the child has been alone all this time, it's going to take more than the usual smear pieces in CdM to get whoever was in charge of the search team out of this one, Lily.
Time will tell, but right now, it's not looking good for Madeira PJ. I wonder if Paiva was involved due to his expertise in NOT finding missing children?

Bonny, they are going to have to do something about it. The world is watching this failure of an infant. Paiva involved? Maybe.....
I feel badly for the professional elements of the Portuguese law enforcement.

Dreadful. Total incompetence. I wonder if all of the disgraced PJ Officers get sent to Madeira?
It can hardly be a promotion if Paiva is there.

I'm beginning to wonder if they've got any. The bad ones don't half seem to get around.

Re: baby disappears in Madeira
Sabot, I was wondering too. I wrote something else, to that effect, and deleted it as I thought it was too harsh.
No wonder they have all that whitewashing going on on the forums. It's times like this when we can honestly contemplate that they are paying people.
Madeira is another popular vacation spot. They are most likely worried about damage control there too.

Re: baby disappears in Madeira
It's the attitude I don't 'get', Lily. Normally, when a child goes missing, the police here, or in the US, pull out all the stops to find that child. Every police officer, every searcher, wants to be the person who finds the child alive - police officers will tell you that that is the best thing that can ever happen in their careers.
This, Oh, it's dead, the parents did it, attitude, seems to be peculiar to SOME - not all - elements in Portugal. Why the Hell weren't they looking overnight - don't they have torches on Madeira?
And we all watched the CdM smear machine being cranked up again, the sly innuendoes from 'sources'.
God bless the ordinary workmen who found little Daniel. If it hadn't been for them, the little boy would almost certainly have died, and we all know what his parents' fate would have been.

It's as though they could not be bothered to continue searching because they have something else to do.

And The Nasties are still trying to put it on the family.
By the way, it was not long past full moon, and almost as bright as day here for most of the night.

Re: baby disappears in Madeira
What, some person, maybe not quite right in the head, took the child on the spur of the moment? Then realised what he/she had done and left the child where the workmen found him?
Possible; I think I am past being surprised at anything.

Re: baby disappears in Madeira
In all honesty, Portugal and L.E. don't make much sense to me at all. It seems too antiquated and inefficient. Maybe they will proceed more quickly with their overhaul? Wasn't one proposed a few years ago?

J admits kidnapping in the case of child Madeira
'Remain open all possibilities, "said the coordinator of the PJ

The coordinator of the Judicial Police in Wood told Lusa that the latest steps taken can lead to think that it was facing a kidnapping in the case of the boy who was missing for three days in Calheta. A child was found wet, cold and hungry and in the same clothes that disappeared as well as with the pacifier. The images that TVI had access show Daniel to rest in the hospital bed after being rescued. Nobody knows for sure what happened, but the investigating officer in the region has admitted that 'the latest approaches, recent developments could suggest that this is a kidnapping, "he said. Eduardo Nunes added that 'remain open all possibilities. The PJ will continue to investigate until it is solved this case. " Engineer said that the PJ 'levadeiro talked with the man who found the child, and other people considered important. " Eduardo Nunes said that the Judicial Police "it is carrying out other steps and stood on the spot where the child appeared." Boy 18 months missing since Sunday afternoon when it was a family gathering at his uncle's house, located on the site of the Kings Above the zone High of Calheta, was found this morning by a levadeiro (professional responsible for the distribution of irrigation water in Madeira) between 07:00 and 08:00. A child was found alive , showing signs of cold, but ' clinically well, "said the pediatrician who watched the Hospital of Funchal, considering 'puzzling' that the baby was able to survive alone in the open for three days and nights in the highlands of Calheta. updated News
The photos are good, and the video is first class if you want to get a better idea of where the little boy was found.

There is no way he got up there on his own.
Half moon at the moment. At 5 o'clock this morning, 4 o'clock in Madeira, it was still bright enough to see.
