You will enjoy this, if you have a spare hour, Sabot:
ETA, you will too, LL, if you haven't seen it before. Everyone makes jokes about Neil Oliver's famous hair, but he is a wonderful presenter and story-teller. You will learn more history in an hour from him, than a month of that Starkey fool. You'll find the mystical parts fascinating, Sabot.

Sadly, I am missing an adobe flash player, Bonny. And can't seem to install one. But if you have the link to youtube that might work for me.

Re: Scareforce One Makes Day Trip To Aberdeen
Cameron's normal reaction to the sight of a Saltire:
Incidentally, I've just seen the latest Oh No! doom ad. It's awful. Lots of grainy black and white film of plucky, salt of the earth working class types in days of yore, when they knew their place, Scots soldiers getting mown down in the Great War, a homage to dead Scots Labour MPs, and Gordon Brown waving his hands around to inspire people....no mention of Tories or Lib Dems.

Re: Scareforce One Makes Day Trip To Aberdeen
http://www.heraldscotland.com/politics/referendum-news/analysis-why-the-uk-leaders-are-coming-north-for-a-final-campaign-flurry.1410267464
On Monday, No 10 was adamant that the Prime Minister would not be going to Scotland this week and would be making just one visit next week as he fights with "every fibre" of his being to save the Union.
But as David Cameron's spokesman was telling the Lobby this, the PM and Ed Miliband were chatting privately in the Tory leader's room in the Commons on how they could do more to boost the flagging No campaign and reverse the tide that was apparently flowing in Alex Salmond's favour.
Clearly, the Tories are toxic north of the Border but Mr Cameron is desperate to get stuck in politically; he's a natural campaigner.
Downing Street would not tell us whose idea it was but it was decided that the UK triumvirate would each venture north tomorrow to 'love bomb' Scotland in separate locations.
The plan is to capitalise on the momentum created by Gordon Brown's passionate defence of the Union and his setting out of a Plan of Action to guarantee Scotland would get more powers over tax, spending and welfare in the next Westminster Parliament following a No vote.
So, as the polls narrow and Whitehall suddenly realises the threat to the 300-year-old Union is real, the game is now afoot and, with just a week to go, the passionate final flurry of campaigning will begin.
It is not beyond the realms of possibility that the Cameron/Clegg/Miliband love bombing will be repeated next week, possibly Wednesday on the last full day of campaigning, to convince those undecided voters and waverers to stick with dear old Blighty.
They are failing to grasp how deeply loathed they are - which is good. And are they so deluded, they actually think:
is a vote WINNER? The man that sold off the UK gold reserves; the man that raided people's pensions....he'd have been better sticking to cleaning up Kirkcaldy beach.
The very thought of being love-bombed by Cameron, Clegg or Milipede.

Re: Scareforce One Makes Day Trip To Aberdeen
“someone with no powers offering us more powers if we vote for no powers.”
An absolutely perfect description from elsewhere of the Shiny Beads and Jam Tomorrow being tossed around by Brown and co. Brown in particular, as he's just a backbencher in Opposition who's rumoured to be quitting next year anyway.
Presumably to spend more time in the far more worthy enterprise of cleaning up his local beach. Ironically, it was the UK Ministry of Defence that dirtied it in the first place.
With radioactive waste.
http://www.thecourier.co.uk/news/local/fife/gordon-brown-urges-mod-not-to-stall-dalgety-bay-clean-up-further-1.518923
The Ministry of Defence has been asked not to stall a clean-up of Dalgety Bay’s radiation-strewn beach by a further year.
The announcement that it would be another 12 months before work to remove radioactive debris from the foreshore area started has been opposed by former prime minister Gordon Brown, who dubbed it an imposition on long-suffering residents.
The Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath MP has consistently called for a swift start to work following the MoD’s agreement to an extensive remediation package.
Mr Brown has now asked the MoD to review its plan to delay any work on Dalgety Bay beach. The postponement until the summer of 2015 was announced to the Dalgety Bay implementation group.
In a report to Dalgety Bay Community Council, Mr Brown said that the delay was “unnecessary and time wasting, given the three years we have waited and the need to get rid of the pollution on the beach as soon as possible”.
He doesn't seem to see the irony....

Ah, but do they have RADIOACTIVE beaches at major population centres? Anyway, I can't see his particular brand of gloom going down any too well in England these days, they hated him when he was PM.

Re: Scareforce One Makes Day Trip To Aberdeen
Elizabeth, Queen of Scots, squashes any moves by her idiot political servants to drag her into this - from Sky:
Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace insisted the Queen had not expressed any preference ahead of the forthcoming vote.
"The sovereign's constitutional impartiality is an established principle of our democracy and one which the Queen has demonstrated throughout her reign," a spokesperson said.
"As such the monarch is above politics and those in political office have a duty to ensure that this remains the case.
"Any suggestion that the Queen would wish to influence the outcome of the current referendum campaign is categorically wrong. Her Majesty is firmly of the view that this is a matter for the people of Scotland. "

Re: Scareforce One Makes Day Trip To Aberdeen
Cameron's a genius, he really is. He's annoyed thousands of English people by flying a 'foreign' flag over Downing Street, and annoyed thousands of Scots by being a patronising tw@t.
He even seems to have annoyed the flag.

Re: Scareforce One Makes Day Trip To Aberdeen
The mockery continues in the Guardian:
And Alex Salmond has said that if he'd known those three were coming north, he'd have paid their bus fares, as they're such a bonus for the YES campaign.
They've spent the last few months insulting/threatening us, and a week before they're finally kicked to the kerb, they promise us shiny things and jam tomorrow, because they love us really? Aye, right.

Re: Scareforce One Makes Day Trip To Aberdeen
Surely, with all these last minute offers of goodies, Westminster is admitting that they have treated Scotland shamefully for years and years.
What sort of message do they think that is sending?

Oh, we all they don't mean a word of it, Sabot, they've pulled this stunt too often in the past for anyone bar the terminally stupid to fall for it.
I actually have no idea what message they THINK they are sending, but I doubt if it's the one they are actually sending - pure, blind panic. Not one of them gives a flying f*ck about Scotland as anything other than exploiting our natural resources to shore their corrupt Westminster bolt hole.
Just look at Cameron using the Daily Mail to tell us how much he loves us. The Mail HATES Scots; they will just about tolerate Scotland as it's got golf courses and is 'quaint' in their minds. The Mail prints the most appalling abuse of Scots, which if aimed at any other nation, would be condemned as racist. I simply don't know what audience he imagines he's addressing, it's not as if it's widely read in Scotland, like the Sun.
Cameron should pack it in after the flagpole incident. After all, what would the ancients have thought if their leader had dropped an Eagle standard on the eve of battle? It's an omen!!!!!!!
