State terrorism? I call it genocide. You can bet that, unlike the Serb leaders, no-one one from the Israeli army, government etc will ever end up on trial in The Hague. LL

Palestinians Urged To Leave Homes As Truce Fails
A group of children are reportedly hit by an Israeli shell, after thousands of Palestinians were urged to leave their homes.
Four Palestinian children have allegedly been killed after a shell fired from an Israeli ship landed on a beach in Gaza.
Reports of the attack, described by the Gaza Health Ministry as "cowardly", are being investigated by officials in Israel.
Earlier, the country dropped thousands of leaflets, urging Palestinians living in northern and eastern parts of the territory to leave their homes.
More at link.
And in ten years or less, the friends of those children are going to be 'terrorists', as are all the children who have seen their families killed and homes destroyed by Israel.

Details emerge of Israeli naval strike that killed 4 children #GazaUnderAttack All four children killed on the naval strike were on the beach in Gaza when the attack took place, with Israeli shelling hitting the area
http://www.middleeasteye.net/news/details-emerge-attack-killing-four-children-gaza-1298891664
Four children were killed in Gaza City on Wednesday, medics said, in Israeli shelling witnessed by AFP journalists.
All four were on the beach when the attack took place, emergency services spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra said, with several injured children taking refuge at a nearby hotel where journalists were staying.
Qudra confirmed four children were killed and at least five others injured, some of whom sought refuge at a hotel used by journalists, in an Israeli strike on a beach in Gaza.
The first strike hit at around 13.00 GMT, prompting children and adults on the beach to scatter, as others rushed out to see what had happened.
A second and third missile struck as they ran, setting fire to huts on the beach as terrified children shouted that there were dead and injured.
The strikes appeared to be the result of shelling by the Israeli navy against an area with small shacks used by fishermen.
Several children ran inside the hotel where AFP journalists saw at least three with shrapnel injuries.
The Hamas Health Ministry has now named the four kids killed on the Gaza beach by an Israeli naval bombardment as Zakaria Ahed Bakr, 10, Ahed Atef Bakr, 10, Mohammed Ramez Bakr, 11, and Ismail Mohammed Bakr, 9.
There was no immediate comment from the IDF on the reports of the killed Palestinian children.

Exactly, Lily. It seems to be escaping the notice of Israel and certain western nations that there are now ten - a hundred - times more 'terrorists' than there were before the supposed War on Terror was launched.

It's a biblical attitude, rather like the idea that you wipe out all the male children of your enemies so they will not come after you when they are adults. And one piece of the Israeli mindset is that the world owes them for what was done to them since the original Diaspora and the exile to Babylon. Israel's stuffed up this time - the children were playing in front of a hotel full of Western press:

Four children were killed in Gaza City on Wednesday, medics said, in Israeli shelling witnessed by The Telegraph and other foreign journalists.
The four were among a group on the beach when the attack took place, emergency services spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra said, with some of the surviving injured children taking refuge at a nearby hotel where journalists were staying.

Journalists heard two loud explosions outside the Gaza City hotel, before children were pulled into the restaurant area for treatment.
A journalist who saw the incident said some of the children who survived were running away when another shell seemed to be aimed at them.

Israel's pretty much kept the western media away from the slaughter till now, though AJ and RT have both been reporting from inside Gaza. They won't like having western media as witnesses to this.

Israel is expected to temporarily stop airstrikes for "humanitarian reasons" after a shell kills four children on a Gaza beach.

'Humanitarian reasons'? More like, the children were killed and injured right in front of western media, and they can't think of a way to lie their way out of this one by blaming 'terrorists'.

RT has footage taken minutes - seconds - after the attack, it's horrible.
israel isn't doing anything for 'humanitarian reasons', it's in a panic because it's blown up a bunch of kids right in front of western journos eating their lunch.

When you're blowing up children on beaches, and when over 70% of the victims of your bombs and missiles are civilians, you are not 'protecting your people' - and note the racism in that phrase.
No, you're committing genocide against people that can't fight back, that you regard as less than human.

Re: Death in the Middle East
That's a bit of good news, LL, let's hope it's a genuine ceasefire this time, not another, Do as we say or else! from Israel.
I don't think for one moment that Israel feels guilty about killing the kids on the beach, they're just in a jam now because it happened right in front of the world's media, a lot of which is showing unedited video. Which is horrible - AND SO IT DAMNED WELL SHOULD BE.
I am sick of wars and death being sanitized as if it all looks like some stupid video game.

Re: Death in the Middle East
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/students-offered-grants-if-they-tweet-proisraeli-propaganda-8760142.html
In a campaign to improve its image abroad, the Israeli government plans to provide scholarships to hundreds of students at its seven universities in exchange for their making pro-Israel Facebook posts and tweets to foreign audiences.
The students making the posts will not reveal online that they are funded by the Israeli government, according to correspondence about the plan revealed in the Haaretz newspaper.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office, which will oversee the programme, confirmed its launch and wrote that its aim was to “strengthen Israeli public diplomacy and make it fit the changes in the means of information consumption”.
The government’s hand is to be invisible to the foreign audiences. Daniel Seaman, the official who has been planning the effort, wrote in a letter on 5 August to a body authorising government projects that “the idea requires not making the role of the state stand out and therefore it is necessary to adhere to great involvement of the students themselves, without political linkage or affiliation”.
According to the plan, students are to be organised into units at each university, with a chief co-ordinator who receives a full scholarship, three desk co-ordinators for language, graphics and research who receive lesser scholarships and students termed “activists” who will receive a “minimal scholarship”.
Mr Netanyahu’s aides said the main topics the units would address related to political and security issues, combating calls to boycott Israel and combating efforts to question Israel’s legitimacy. The officials said the students would stress Israeli democratic values, freedom of religion and pluralism.
But Alon Liel, the doveish former director-general of the Israeli foreign ministry, criticised the plan as “quite disgusting”. “University students should be educated to think freely. When you buy the mind of a student, he becomes a puppet of the Israeli government grant,” he said. “You can give a grant to do social work or teach but not to do propaganda on controversial issues for the government.”

Re: Death in the Middle East
I see there's been a tragedy, LL - one Israeli has been killed.
http://www.aljazeera.com/news/middleeast/2014/07/gaza-toll-rises-as-israel-launches-invasion-2014718614359527.html
Benjamin Netanyahu has said that Israel is prepared for a "significant expansion" of the ground invasion in Gaza, after overnight bombardments killed 24 Palestinians.
The Israeli prime minister on Friday said that he instructed the army to "prepare for the possibility of significantly widening the ground operation".
"We don't want to kill civilians, but Hamas is a terrorist organisation that hides behind human sheilds," said Netanyahu. He added that the ground invasion's stated aim of destroying tunnels used by Hamas fighters could not be done "only from the air".
His comments came after a night of bombing throughout the strip, which killed 24 Palestinians and injured a further 200.
The Israeli army announced that a soldier had been killed, and two others were wounded, in operations inside the Gaza Strip.
The overall death toll has risen to at least 259 Palestinians since the beginning of Israel's operation eleven days ago.
----------
There's never going to be anything resembling peace there as long as Israel thinks it can bomb everyone into submission.
