Re: Death in the Middle East
Any chance of Israel explaining how destroying the Gaza sewage plant is going to stop Hamas hating them? Why did they regard something so essential to life as a military target?

Re: Death in the Middle East
Ah, bonny, but no sewage plant, hospitals, schools, water plants, electricity, building materials, fishing rights and food equals a hellhole that, they hope, will force all the Gazans to pack up and leave tout suite. Bit like the Nazis eradicating Lidice in WW2, except that the Nazis lost the war, while the Czechs built a new Lidice. Gaza may well still be there long after Israel has vanished. Re: Death in the Middle East
I was sickened to find out the truth about Israel's so-called 'humanitarian supplies' they allowed into Gaza, LL. That they'd counted out the minimum number of calories Gazans needed to live on, and that that was all they allowed.
Hence the so-called 'terror tunnels' - which were actually bringing in fresh food.
Yes, I too think that sooner or later, Israel is going to be gone, just the same as the crusaders were kicked out nearly a thousand years ago. Their methods have much in common.

The Israelis say they've achieved one of their main goals - dismantling smuggling tunnels. But Mark Perry, a military and foreign affairs analyst, questions that.
The question is why did Israel do this to begin with? Did they really think they were going disarm Hamas as they said they would? Because they didn't.
Did they think they were going to demilitarise Gaza? They didn't. They have a lone friend now in the Arab World who's sitting on a throne in Cairo. And they've offended their best friend in the world and slurred the American leadership.
What's really been accomplished? If you're sitting in the prime minister's office in Israel and you look around the room, no one is smiling manifestly. That's because this is a significant political defeat for Israel.

Re: Death in the Middle East
We will see how things progress - I wonder if the Israelis will allow building materials into Gaza so the people can rebuild their destroyed homes, let alone their shattered lives. Re: Death in the Middle East
In January 2010, the Israeli group Gisha took Israeli authorities to court, forcing them to reveal which goods were permitted and which goods weren't. The Israeli government replied that canned fruit, fruit juices and chocolate are blocked, while at the same time canned meat, canned tuna, mineral water, sesame paste, tea and coffee are allowed into the Gaza Strip.[126] Banned items also included coriander, shampoo and shoes.[127]
Who knew coriander was Evil? As for banning shampoo - words fail me. Especially when Garnier has been handed out freebies to those females in the Israeli army.
This business of food is utterly shocking, worthy of North Korea. They're getting enough calories to live on, but it's empty calories with little nutrition.
Israel should be deeply, deeply ashamed of itself.

Fat chance of that, bonny. Israelis are God's Chosen People, what they do is sanctioned by Him. LLIsrael should be deeply, deeply ashamed of itself.

I've often noticed, Lily, that the more religious people pretend to be, the more they ignore things they don't like, such as instructions not to kill, covet, bear false witness, etc.

Re: Death in the Middle East
Funny thing is, previous Israeli armies have been regarded, rightly or wrongly, with a lot of respect, Lily - fighting off odds that looked impossible, etc.
Not this lot - this generation are going to be regarded as a bunch of child-killing criminals, great at bombing, shelling and droning civilians that can't fight back, but pretty useless against other armed men.
There are supposedly only some 5,000 Hamas fighters in Gaza, against tens of thousands of Israeli military, but you wouldn't think it from the casualty figures. If this lot of young Israelis had been around at the time of the Seven Days War, Israel would have been overwhelmed, IMO.
One of these days, they are going to get a nasty shock and discover that actually, no, God is not on their side.

79% of Palestinian casualties were civilians.
96% of Israeli casualties were military.

They certainly did, Bonny.

They better locate the Ark of the Covenant pronto then.

Re: Death in the Middle East
I am not a religious man, but surely most of the Ten Commandments have been broken in the last month:
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. broken
(Shelling and fighting on each day over the month)
You shall not murder. broken
(Nearly 2,000 civilians in a month)
You shall not commit adultery. broken in thought if not in deed
(Threats to rape the mothers of Palestinians and Hamas)
You shall not steal. broken
(Looting of damaged property etc)
You shall not bear false witness broken
(False statements re what was happening in Gaza)
You shall not covet. broken
(Theft of land that belongs to the Palestinians)
I rest my case. LL

Six out of ten Commandments deliberately broken by people who say they live by those rules. What does that say about the total hypocrisy of these subhumans? LLlily wrote:Enough said, my learned friend.

Israel pulls troops out of Gaza
Israel has withdrawn its troops from the Gaza Strip to "defensive positions" outside the Palestinian territory.
