Re: Death in the Middle East
They are able to get away with it because of the collective 'guilt' of those who looked away at what the Nazis did and the using of that guilt to ram home the evil that was perpetrated on the Jews. We know the Holocast took place, but how often does the plight of the Roma, Sinti, Jehovah's Witnesses, gays, etc get a mention in the Israeli press? LLlily wrote:It is barbarian.

Latest information. And israel says the wiping out of a complete family is 'an error'.
What blatant hypocrasy. And people in a cafe watching the World Cup semi-final were also killed.

Re: Death in the Middle East
AJ-
At least 75 people, including many children, have been killed in the Gaza Strip in two days of Israeli air raids, as Israel's army mobilised on the border for a possible ground invasion.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health said 550 people had been wounded since Israel launched its campaign in Gaza this week, which it said targeted Palestinians firing rockets into its territory.
At least the border has been opened, LL, that's about the only good news today.
It is, IMO, way past time the UN stepped in, this violence is simply never going to end if Israel carries on like this.
As I've said before about Obama's damned drones, when you kill innocent people, especially by remote control, you don't destroy terrorists, as the US and Israel seem to imagine, you create more.
People that have seen their homes destroyed and families blown up don't think, Oh, I must be nice to the US/Israel, or I might be blown up, too.
No, everything and everyone they cared about has been wiped out, so they will take revenge in any way they can.

One very big ongoing problem is the Israeli lobby in the USA, they have immense power in the Senate etc and they lobby every time the problems escalate. They are such hypocrites, they pump money into Israel but the thought that Israel might be defeated brings them out of the woodwork but live there, no way, Jacob. LL

Thing is, LL, disgruntled, angry people can't be held down by force forever, whatever their cause, wrong or right. And the US senate is a very long way from the Middle East, even if they don't appreciate that fact.
Also, there is no comparison between the damage and carnage Israeli missiles are wreaking in Gaza, and the few Hamas rockets that do get through. These days, the world can see pictures of what is happening on the ground almost as it happens and Israel does NOT look like the victim.

They aren't. This is barbaric, and NO different to the crusaders slaughtering innocent muslims when they stormed besieged towns nearly a thousand years ago.
If the world wants peace, it might be time to start thinking about expelling Israel and its ally from the UN, as they seem to be the catalysts for most of the world's misery.

Re: Death in the Middle East
This is just being reported:
http://rt.com/news/171320-gaza-hamas-israel-rockets/
22:00 GMT:
US President Barack Obama has told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Washington is willing to negotiate a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, the White House says.
Speaking to the Israeli leader on Thursday, Obama condemned the rockets fired from Gaza and said that Israel has the right to self-defense. However, he also urged both sides not to escalate the crisis and to restore calm.
If they've any sense, both sides will stop lobbing missiles at each other and join in shouting 'NOOOOOOOO' at Obama.
I can't think of anyone worse to negotiate a cease-fire anywhere.

Lebanese Rockets Hit Israel in Offensive's 4th Day
JERUSALEM — Jul 11, 2014, 1:21 AM ET
By KHALED KAZZIHA and JOSEF FEDERMAN Associated Press
Authorities say apparent rocket fire from Lebanon has struck Israel as long-range rocket fire from Gaza continued for a fourth day.
Military spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner said a projectile struck near Israel's northern border. The military responded with artillery fire toward the source in Lebanon.
He said it was unclear whether the new front was "symbolic or something more substantial."
Lebanon's state-run National News Agency said two rockets were fired Friday from the country. No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
Gaza militants already have fired more than 400 rockets against Israel in the offensive. Israel's "Iron Dome" defense system has intercepted most aimed at major cities. Air raid sirens sounded once more Friday across the country, including for the first time in the northern city of Haifa.

Re: Death in the Middle East
srael has continued its bombardment of Gaza but failed to stop rocket fire across the border, as the US offered to help negotiate a truce.
At least 98 Palestinians, most of them civilians, have been killed in Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip, Palestinian officials said on Friday. Hundreds of others have been wounded.
Among those killed were eight Palestinian family members, including five children, who died in a Thursday morning air raid in Khan Younis, southern Gaza.
Avichay Adraee, a spokesman for the Israeli military to Arab media, on Friday morning said Israel had hit 1,100 targets since its campaign was launched earlier this week.
"There are still hundreds to finish off," he said. "The terrorists continue their rocket attacks because of the painful attacks that aim to destroy their rocket power".

'Finish off'? Israel is deluded if it thinks this is ever going to be 'finished off' by killing Palestinians. If the world feels anger watching this onslaught, then imagine what it is stoking in the Middle East itself.
Present day Israel is, IMO, acting like an abused child that then grows up to be an abuser itself.

Hamas: Israel's Main Airport Will Be Targeted
Militants warn airlines to keep clear of the Ben Gurion airport as the death toll from Israeli strikes reportedly hits 100.
The armed wing of Hamas has threatened an imminent attack on Israel's main airport in response to Israeli airstrikes on Gaza that have now reportedly killed 100 Palestinians.
The Izz el-Deen al-Qassam Brigades warned they planned to fire rockets at Tel Aviv's Ben-Gurion international airport and they urged airlines to divert their flights for the safety of passengers.
A spokesman for Israel's Airports Authority said activity at Ben Gurion was briefly halted after an air raid siren sounded, but operations has since resumed.
he Israeli army launched an offensive, named Operation Protective Edge, on Tuesday targeting Hamas militants in the wake of persistent rocket attacks from Gaza into Israel.
With no end to the violence in sight, US President Barack Obama has told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Washington would be willing to help negotiate a truce.
Mr Netanyahu has said international pressure will not stop his country acting against militants and the operation will continue until Gaza rocket fire is halted
As Netanyahu is on his high horse, perhaps a reminder of how Israel came to exist in the first place is timely?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sergeants_affair
The Sergeants affair (Hebrew: פרשת הסרג'נטים) was an incident that took place in Mandate Palestine in July 1947 during the Jewish insurgency in Palestine, in which the Jewish underground group the Irgun kidnapped two British army Intelligence Corps NCOs, Sergeant Clifford Martin and Sergeant Mervyn Paice, and threatened to kill them if the death sentences passed on Irgun militants arrested by the British authorities on charges of illegal possession of arms, and with 'intent to kill or cause other harm to a large number of people',[1] were carried out. When the executions were carried out, the Irgun killed its hostages and hung their booby-trapped bodies in a eucalyptus grove near Netanya. This act was widely condemned in both Palestine and the United Kingdom. Soon after hearing of the deaths some British troops and policemen attacked Jews in Tel Aviv, killing five and injuring others.[2] The killings also sparked off antisemitic rioting in some British cities.[2][3]
Far be it from me to condemn emerging nations to use whatever means they can against occupying, foreign, military, but for the current Israeli government (not people) to be behaving so hypocritically doesn't hold water.
Do bear in mind that the British soldiers that were lynched were conscripts.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/07/11/house-approves-resolution-backing-israel-right-to-defend-itself-against-hamas/
The House of Representatives on Friday approved a non-binding resolution backing Israel's right to defend itself against Hamas rocket attacks.
The vote comes as Hamas-fired rockets stream into Israel's airspace, though most are being intercepted by Israel's advanced defense system.
The House adopted the resolution by unanimous consent, and there was no roll call vote.
Rep. Steve Israel, D-N.Y., who co-sponsored the resolution with Rep. Tom Cole, R-Okla., called the Hamas attacks "unprovoked and unwarranted."
"Israel is one of America's most important and loyal friends. As the world has watched the unrest and tension reach a new height over the last several days with rockets fired into Israel by Hamas, we remain supportive of Israel's right to combat these terrorist acts," Cole said.
----------
Score so far.
One Israeli petrol station hit and several cars damaged.
100+ Palestinians dead.

So finally they have admitted what they are up to. Chaim said thatr he was sure the aim of all this had nothing to do with Hamas and everything to do with the land itself. He did tell me of the energy crisis, he has reliable sources in Israel - and this article does throw light on what Israel has been, and still is, up to. Re: Death in the Middle East
Yes, LL. In public, it looks as if tit-for-tat revenge is fuelling this, but I did wonder if there was some other, hidden aim. One thing that has been proven repeatedly over the past couple of ghastly decades is that terrorism isn't defeated by killing non-combatants - that simply makes more terrorists.
Which is why bombarding Gaza for revenge is likely to be counter-productive, especially nowadays when the entire world can see what's happening for themselves. Should have known it would really be about fuel and money.
